For most PlayStation or PC buyers choosing on documented hardware, the Thrustmaster T300 RS GT is the stronger specification-led pick. Its brushless dual-belt drive and 1080-degree range should offer a different feedback character from the Logitech G29’s geared, dual-motor system and 900-degree range. The G29 remains a sensible alternative if you prefer its fixed wheel and control layout, find a substantially better local deal, or want the simplest established package. No reliable source here proves that one wheel is universally faster, stronger, quieter, or more durable, so treat subjective claims as impressions rather than measured facts.
Quick verdict
| Choose this wheel | Why |
|---|---|
| Thrustmaster T300 RS GT Edition | You want the documented brushless motor, dual-belt drive, 1080-degree rotation and a clearly documented path to compatible pedals, shifters, a handbrake and interchangeable rims. |
| Logitech G29 | You prefer its fixed wheel and familiar control arrangement, or its verified local price and warranty make it better value. |
Both are PlayStation/PC models. Do not assume either works on Xbox: Logitech’s Xbox counterpart is in the G920 family, while Thrustmaster’s Xbox-compatible products are in the TX family. The best choice therefore depends first on your console, then on the type of force-feedback mechanism and upgrade path you want.

What is actually different?
The central distinction is how each base creates force feedback. Logitech specifies the G29 with two motors driving a helical gear system. Thrustmaster describes the T300 RS GT Edition as using a brushless motor and a dual-belt system. Those mechanisms can produce noticeably different sensations, but the available material does not include a controlled, head-to-head measurement of force, response time, noise or smoothness.
That distinction matters because the drive system is the part you interact with in every corner, correction and curb strike. It is also the point at which marketing language can be mistaken for a test result. A belt system is a documented construction choice, not proof that every driver will find it smoother or stronger. Likewise, the G29’s gears identify its architecture but do not establish a universal disadvantage.

Gear-driven feedback in the G29
The G29’s dual-motor, helical-gear arrangement is a conventional design in which motor movement is transmitted through gears to the wheel shaft. Logitech publishes the mechanism and a maximum 900-degree rotation, along with a three-pedal set. The specification establishes what is inside the product; it does not establish a comparative torque figure against the T300 RS GT.
For a buyer, the practical appeal is a defined, fixed-wheel package with the controls and pedals supplied together. If you already know you prefer Logitech’s button placement or are replacing another Logitech setup, familiarity can outweigh a paper difference in rotation range. Evaluate the actual seller’s bundle rather than assuming every listing has identical accessories.
Belt-driven feedback in the T300 RS GT
The T300 RS GT uses a brushless motor and dual belts. Thrustmaster advertises 1080 degrees of force-feedback rotation and identifies the motor as nearly 25 watts in its official shop listing. The belt architecture is the reason many buyers expect a different feedback feel from the G29, but “smoother” or “stronger” remains a subjective description unless supported by a repeatable test.

Specification comparison
| Specification | Logitech G29 | Thrustmaster T300 RS GT Edition |
|---|---|---|
| Feedback drive | Dual-motor force feedback with helical gearing | Brushless motor with a dual-belt system |
| Advertised rotation | Maximum 900 degrees | 1080 degrees |
| Included pedals | Three: throttle, brake and clutch | GT Edition three-pedal set |
| Listed platforms | PS5, PS4, PS3, Windows and Mac, with game support required | PC, PS4 and PS5; PS5 use is subject to Thrustmaster’s supported-game list |
| Upgrade documentation | The cited Logitech specification confirms the bundled controls and pedals, but is not a complete accessory-compatibility guide | Official compatibility documentation lists selected pedal sets, shifters, a handbrake and interchangeable wheel rims for T300-family bases |
These are manufacturer specifications, not independent comparative statistics. The 900-degree figure comes from Logitech’s current G29 technical specification; the 1080-degree figure and nearly-25-watt motor description come from Thrustmaster’s T300 RS GT listing. A larger rotation number does not by itself make a driver quicker, and the wattage figures cannot be compared as torque because a comparable official force measurement for both products is not supplied.
How the two wheels feel in practice
Rotation range and steering inputs
The T300 RS GT’s advertised 1080 degrees gives it a wider maximum range than the G29’s 900 degrees. In a simulator that models several turns lock-to-lock, that extra range can provide more room for gradual steering corrections. It does not automatically make a driver quicker: the game, car setup, wheel calibration and your own technique determine whether the range is useful.
Both wheels can be configured by supported games for common racing disciplines. A title may apply its own steering lock, so the number printed on the box is not the angle you will use in every car. Before judging the range, set the correct wheel rotation in the game, calibrate the center and confirm that the on-screen wheel follows your physical wheel through its full travel.

Gear versus belt character
Gear teeth and belts transmit motor movement differently. Buyers commonly describe a geared wheel as having more perceptible mechanical texture around the center and a belt-driven base as having a different, more continuous response. Those descriptions are impressions, not a lab result for these two exact units. The cited comparison published October 3, 2026 explicitly relies on manufacturer specifications and owner reports rather than testing either wheel on the author’s rig. Use that evidence to understand possible character, not to claim a universal winner for smoothness, noise or strength.
Mounting and software settings can change what you feel. A wheel that is not secured firmly can seem less consistent, while a game’s force-feedback level can make either product feel weak, harsh or overly active. Compare like-for-like settings and the same car and track before drawing conclusions from a short demonstration.
Fixed controls and rim plans
The G29 is presented as a fixed-wheel package, which favors a buyer who wants one established control layout and no decision about changing rims. The T300 RS GT belongs to a base family for which Thrustmaster documents interchangeable rims. That is a meaningful difference in ownership plans, not proof that one wheel’s supplied rim is faster or more comfortable for every driver.

If you expect to move between different driving styles, list the accessories you might actually buy and verify their compatibility first. If you only want to connect the supplied wheel and pedals and start playing, the simpler package may be more attractive regardless of the theoretical upgrade ceiling.
Pedals and the first upgrade
Both packages include three pedals, so either can support throttle, brake and clutch inputs without an immediate accessory purchase. Confirm the exact bundle with the seller: listings can vary by edition, region or used-market condition even when the model name is similar. A missing pedal cable or a different T300 variant can change the value of an otherwise familiar listing.
For the T300 family, Thrustmaster documents a broader upgrade route. Its compatibility material names selected pedal sets, including T-LCM pedals, TH8A and TH8S shifters, the TSS handbrake and interchangeable rims. Check the base, connector, console and game requirements for each accessory before buying; “compatible with T300” does not mean every connection method works in every setup.
The Logitech specification page used for this comparison verifies the G29’s supplied controls but does not provide an equally complete accessory-compatibility guide. That is an evidence limitation, not proof that no third-party or platform-specific options exist. Ask the seller or consult Logitech’s current documentation for any specific add-on rather than extrapolating from the wheel’s name.
Setup and calibration before your first race
- Identify the exact model. Confirm G29 or T300 RS GT Edition, not a similarly named G920, TX or another T300 variant.
- Connect the base and pedal set. Follow the manufacturer’s connection order and use the supplied cables where applicable.
- Install current software on PC. Use the relevant Logitech or Thrustmaster driver and control-panel utility when the platform or game requires it.
- Set the wheel in the game. Select the device, assign steering, throttle, brake and clutch, and check that each input reaches its full range.
- Calibrate rotation and center. Match the game’s steering lock to the car or title’s supported setting; do not assume the maximum printed range is the correct value for every vehicle.
- Test force feedback safely. Start at a moderate setting and confirm that the wheel responds before increasing effects. If a title does not support the wheel, changing gain settings will not create support.
On console, the same principle applies: a compatible USB wheel is not automatically supported by every game. Read the title’s input documentation and, for PS5, compare the game with Thrustmaster’s supported list.

PlayStation, PC and Xbox compatibility
PlayStation
Logitech lists the G29 for PS5, PS4 and PS3. A game must support steering wheels and the relevant input features; console compatibility alone does not guarantee that every title exposes force feedback, clutch or all buttons.
Thrustmaster lists the T300 RS GT for PS4 and PS5 as well as PC. The manufacturer’s product statement calls it an officially licensed PlayStation and Gran Turismo product and says it is compatible with PS5, PS4 and PC. On PS5, read the supported-game list: the listing does not promise universal support for every PS5 title and also identifies supported PS4 games.
If you are buying for a particular console generation, check both the wheel’s platform label and the game’s own support page. A listing that says “PlayStation compatible” may still require the correct console mode, firmware or title support.
PC
Both models are listed for Windows use, and Logitech’s page also lists Mac requirements for the G29. On PC, compatibility still depends on the game’s wheel implementation, driver or control-panel setup and the USB connection. Install the current manufacturer software where required, then select the wheel in the game’s controls menu and calibrate steering and pedals.

Xbox
Neither the G29 nor the T300 RS GT is the correct model to buy simply because a listing says “racing wheel.” The G29 and T300 RS GT are the PlayStation/PC versions. Xbox buyers should verify the separate Logitech G920 or Thrustmaster TX product family and confirm support for the specific Xbox generation and game.
Which wheel should you buy?
Choose the T300 RS GT if its specification priorities match yours
- You value a documented brushless, dual-belt design over a geared design.
- You want the advertised 1080-degree range rather than 900 degrees.
- You may add compatible pedals, a shifter, a handbrake or another rim later.
- You play on PC, PS4 or PS5 and are prepared to check the PS5 supported-game list.
- You are willing to verify accessory connections and game support as your setup grows.
This is a specification-led recommendation. It does not claim that every driver will perceive the T300 RS GT as stronger or smoother, and the available sources do not provide a comparable official force measurement for both products.
Choose the G29 when layout, simplicity or value matters more
- You prefer Logitech’s fixed wheel and documented button/control arrangement.
- You want a three-pedal package from a well-established PlayStation/PC model without choosing among wheel-rim options.
- Your verified regional price, seller reputation and warranty are better than the T300 RS GT offer you can actually buy.
- You are replacing or matching an existing Logitech setup and want familiar controls.
- You do not need the T300 family’s documented path to selected rims, shifters, a handbrake and pedal upgrades.
Do not describe the G29 as objectively weak merely because it uses gears. The available evidence confirms its drive type and 900-degree limit, but not a head-to-head torque deficit.
Value, price and warranty
There is no single fair price winner because the amount you pay depends on country, seller, condition, shipping and the warranty attached to that particular listing. Current prices and warranty terms were not verified for a specific region. Compare the complete offer rather than a headline number.
For a new wheel, include delivery, local taxes and the seller’s return process. For a used wheel, ask whether the three-pedal set, power supply, USB cable and original mounting hardware are included and whether the wheel has been tested on the platform you use. A lower sticker price can lose its advantage if an essential cable is missing or the seller offers no practical warranty.
When prices are close, the T300 RS GT’s documented accessory route may justify choosing it for a planned multi-stage setup. When the G29 is substantially cheaper and already includes the controls you need, its simpler fixed-wheel package can be the more sensible value. Make that judgment from the actual local offers, not from an assumed global price.
Purchase checklist
- Confirm the platform. For PlayStation or PC, verify the exact G29 or T300 RS GT model. For Xbox, stop and check the G920 or TX families instead.
- Check the game. Look up wheel and force-feedback support for each title. For PS5, consult Thrustmaster’s supported-game list rather than assuming blanket support.
- Verify the bundle. Confirm that the listing includes the three-pedal set and identify whether it is the T300 RS GT Edition rather than another T300 variant.
- Inspect connection requirements. If you plan to add T-LCM pedals, a TH8A/TH8S shifter, a TSS handbrake or an interchangeable rim, check the exact base, cable and platform requirements in Thrustmaster’s compatibility documentation.
- Compare the complete local deal. Price and warranty were not verified for a particular region here. Compare the delivered cost, return policy, seller and warranty at the time you purchase.
- Plan the mounting space. Both are force-feedback wheels with pedal sets; measure your desk, cockpit or wheel stand and allow room for cable routing and pedal movement.
- Save the documentation. Keep the model number, receipt and compatibility pages so you can verify firmware, accessories or a return later.
Common mistakes and how to avoid them
Buying the wrong console version
Model names are easy to confuse across console families. A G29 listing is not an Xbox listing, and a T300 RS GT listing is not a TX listing. Read the platform line on the manufacturer’s page and on the seller’s box photographs before ordering.

900 versus 1080 degrees describes the maximum steering range, not a measured performance advantage. Games can impose their own steering locks, and a wider range can require larger hand movements in cars that use less than the maximum.
Assuming “belt” proves every subjective benefit
The T300 RS GT’s belt system is a documented design choice. It is not evidence by itself of a universal advantage in noise, smoothness, strength or reliability. Those characteristics can vary with software settings, mounting, age and individual perception.
Adding accessories without checking the chain
Thrustmaster’s accessory ecosystem is useful only when the selected pedal, shifter, handbrake, rim, connector and console combination is supported. Check the compatibility table for the exact accessory and base before spending money. A compatible base does not guarantee that every accessory works through every connection method or with every game.

Comparing prices without comparing warranty
Current prices and warranty terms vary by country, seller and condition and were not established in the available source material. A lower sticker price may not be better value if it is used, missing a pedal cable, sold without local warranty or difficult to return.

Calling owner impressions measurements
Reports that one wheel feels quieter, stronger or smoother can help you understand what owners notice, but they are not a controlled statistic. Mounting, settings, age and the game itself affect the experience. Use those comments as context and give priority to documented specifications when making a comparison.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What the evidence can and cannot establish
The manufacturer pages are the strongest evidence for the core specifications and platform lists. They establish the G29’s dual-motor helical gearing, 900-degree maximum rotation and three pedals, and the T300 RS GT’s brushless dual-belt system, 1080-degree advertising, nearly-25-watt motor description, three pedals and listed platforms.
The secondary comparison updated October 3, 2026 says it is based on specifications and owner reports, not hands-on testing. No named study, independently measured head-to-head dataset or owner-population statistic was identified for these wheels. Consequently, this article does not assign a torque winner or present noise, smoothness, durability or response claims as measured facts.
The safest conclusion is therefore conditional: the T300 RS GT leads on documented drive architecture, rotation range and upgrade documentation, while the G29 remains credible when its fixed controls, familiar ecosystem, local price or warranty fit your priorities better.

Is the T300 RS GT better than the G29 for beginners?
It is the better specification-led choice if you want the belt-driven base, 1080-degree range and documented upgrade path. The G29 can be the better beginner purchase when its control layout or verified local value matters more. Neither is proven universally superior by the available evidence.
Does the T300 RS GT work with every PS5 game?
No. Thrustmaster lists PS5 compatibility subject to its supported-game list, which also identifies supported PS4 games. Check that list for each title before buying.
Can I use either wheel on Xbox?
Not these PlayStation/PC models by default. Verify the Logitech G920 or Thrustmaster TX family for Xbox and then confirm the exact console and game support.
Which one has more upgrade potential?
Thrustmaster documents selected compatible pedal sets, TH8A and TH8S shifters, a TSS handbrake and interchangeable rims for T300-family bases. The cited Logitech specification page confirms the G29 package but is not a full accessory-compatibility guide.
Is the T300 RS GT quieter than the G29?
The drive mechanisms differ, but the available sources do not provide a controlled noise measurement. Treat owner descriptions of noise as individual impressions.

Do both wheels include a clutch pedal?
The G29 specification lists throttle, brake and clutch pedals, and the T300 RS GT Edition includes a three-pedal set. Confirm the exact contents of the seller’s bundle before purchase.
Should I buy based on the advertised wattage?
No. The T300 listing describes a nearly 25-watt brushless motor, but there is no comparable official force measurement for the G29, so wattage alone cannot establish a performance winner.
Is 1080 degrees always preferable to 900 degrees?
Not automatically. The T300 RS GT offers the wider advertised maximum, but games can apply their own steering locks and some cars use less than the maximum. Calibration and the title’s support determine how useful the extra range is.
