For most PlayStation and PC buyers, the Logitech G29 is the value choice when it is substantially cheaper. Choose the G923 instead when you are buying the correct platform edition, your favorite games support Logitech’s TRUEFORCE system, and you are comfortable paying the premium for that feature.
The decision is not simply “older wheel versus newer wheel.” Platform compatibility, title-specific TRUEFORCE support and the current store price matter more than the model number. The most expensive mistake is ordering the wrong hardware version. Logitech’s G29 listing covers PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3 and Windows. The G923 is sold in two platform families: PlayStation/PC and Xbox/PC. The wheel’s connector, console authentication and supported software depend on selecting the matching edition.

PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3
Both the G29 and the PlayStation/PC G923 are the relevant choices for the PlayStation consoles listed by Logitech. Confirm that the product page specifically identifies the PlayStation edition before placing the order. A listing that merely says “G923” is incomplete because the Xbox/PC version is a separate selection.
Windows PC
Windows appears in Logitech’s compatibility information for the G29, and both G923 platform editions are sold for PC use. On a shared household PC, either G923 edition can be appropriate, but the console you intend to use later should determine which one you purchase.
Xbox
Do not choose the G29 listing for an Xbox setup. Logitech’s shop presents the G923 Xbox/PC model for that platform. Verify the Xbox designation in the exact listing, packaging and compatibility information rather than relying on a photograph or a seller’s shortened title.

Why a platform check is still needed on PC
“PC compatible” does not mean every racing game will map every button or recognize every force-feedback mode automatically. The game must support the wheel, and its control settings may require calibration. Check the game’s current controller list and Logitech’s support information before buying for a particular title.
What the G29 gives you
The G29 is a conventional Logitech Driving Force wheel-and-pedal set. Logitech’s product information lists the steering wheel, pedals, power adapter and user documentation in the box. That establishes what is supplied; it does not establish a particular lap-time advantage or a measured difference in feedback compared with the G923.
Its strongest buying argument is straightforward compatibility at a lower observed price. If you play on a supported PlayStation console or Windows PC, and the games you care about support the G29, the money saved can be more important than a feature you may not use. The G29 remains the logical baseline for a first wheel when the price gap is large and TRUEFORCE is not a requirement.

What is not included in the standard box
The listed contents are the wheel, pedal set, power adapter and documentation. A separate racing seat, cockpit or shifter should not be assumed. Logitech advertises a Driving Force Shifter as an optional accessory for these wheel families; it is not required to operate the wheel and its current compatibility and price should be checked separately.
What the G923 adds
The G923’s defining feature is Logitech’s TRUEFORCE system. Logitech describes it as connecting directly to in-game physics and markets the result with the statement, “Exclusive TRUEFORCE feedback connects directly to in-game physics for unprecedented realism.” That is Logitech’s product description, not an independent performance measurement, so it should be read as a feature claim rather than proof that every driver will find the wheel more realistic.
Logitech lists a 2.3 Nm rating for the TRUEFORCE system and identifies a pressure-sensitive brake. These are manufacturer specifications. They describe the product, not a comparative test showing that the G923 is stronger, faster or more precise than the G29 in every game.
TRUEFORCE is not universal feedback
TRUEFORCE depends on game support. Logitech maintains a compatibility list and marks titles that support TRUEFORCE. In a supported title, the game can provide the physics data that the feature is designed to use. In a wheel-compatible title without TRUEFORCE support, the wheel can still function as a racing controller, but you should not assume that the headline mode is active.
Before paying the G923 premium, identify the exact games you play and check Logitech’s list for the relevant platform and title. A buyer who mainly plays unsupported games may receive little practical value from paying extra for TRUEFORCE.
How to compare game support correctly
- Write down the platform. Record PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox or Windows, because support can differ by platform.
- Check ordinary wheel compatibility. Confirm that the game recognizes the G29 or the specific G923 edition.
- Check TRUEFORCE separately. For the G923, look for the game on Logitech’s TRUEFORCE compatibility list. A title can support the wheel without supporting TRUEFORCE.
- Check the game version and updates. Support lists and game patches can change, so use the current list and the current version you intend to play.
- Plan calibration. Even when supported, you may need to assign steering, throttle, brake and buttons in the game’s controller menu.
This two-level check prevents the common assumption that buying a G923 automatically enables TRUEFORCE in every racing game.

Price: how large is the G923 premium?
The observed PlayStation Direct catalog showed the G29 at $199.99 and the G923 at $279.99, a difference of $80. The Logitech US shop showed the G923 at $299.99, which is $100 above that observed G29 price. These were indexed store prices, not synchronized offers, guaranteed current prices or universal MSRP figures. Inventory, promotions, regional taxes and shipping can change the comparison.

Use the live price at the store you will actually buy from. Compare the same condition, warranty, shipping and platform edition; a lower price on the wrong console version is not a saving.
Is the G923 worth the extra money?
There is no universal yes or no. The premium buys access to a manufacturer-described feedback system whose benefit depends on compatible games. It is easier to justify when your regular titles are marked as TRUEFORCE-supported and the current premium is within your budget. It is harder to justify when your games are not on the list, you are buying your first wheel cautiously, or the G29 is substantially cheaper.

- You use PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3 or Windows and have confirmed the game support.
- You want the lower-cost option and the live G29 price is meaningfully below the G923.
- Your favorite games do not support TRUEFORCE, or you do not consider that feature important.
- You would rather keep the difference for an optional shifter, a stand or future game purchases.
Choose the G923 when these conditions fit
- You select the correct PlayStation/PC or Xbox/PC edition for your hardware.
- The games you actually play appear on Logitech’s TRUEFORCE support list.
- You want the G923’s listed 2.3 Nm TRUEFORCE specification and pressure-sensitive brake as part of your buying decision.
- The current premium is acceptable after checking the complete delivered price.
Wait or recheck when the choice is unclear
If you cannot confirm your platform edition or your games’ TRUEFORCE status, do not decide from the model number alone. Verify those two facts first. If the G923 price falls close to the G29 price, the premium becomes easier to accept; if the gap widens, the G29’s value case becomes stronger for buyers who do not need TRUEFORCE.

Setup and first-use checks
After delivery, place the wheel on a stable surface, connect the pedal set and power adapter according to Logitech’s documentation, then connect the wheel to the console or PC. In the game’s controller settings, assign steering, throttle and brake, set the steering range if the game offers that control, and test every input before starting a race.
On PC, install or update the software recommended by Logitech for the wheel model and allow the game to detect the device before changing advanced settings. On console, use the game’s supported-controller instructions and check for a required USB connection or startup sequence. Exact menus vary by game, so the game’s current documentation takes precedence over a generic setup guide.

If the wheel is not detected
- Recheck that the USB cable and power adapter are firmly connected.
- Confirm that you bought the correct platform edition, especially for Xbox versus PlayStation.
- Close and restart the game after connecting the wheel.
- Look for the wheel in the game’s controller or input menu and assign controls manually if automatic detection failed.
- On PC, check Logitech’s current support software and the game’s controller requirements.
If TRUEFORCE does not appear to work
First confirm that the game is marked as TRUEFORCE-compatible, not merely wheel-compatible. Then check that the game and wheel software are current and that force-feedback options are enabled. If the title is absent from Logitech’s TRUEFORCE list, the feature may simply not be supported there; changing settings cannot add physics integration that the game does not provide.

Ordering a G29 for Xbox
The G29 listing is for PlayStation platforms and Windows in Logitech’s compatibility information. Xbox buyers should verify the Xbox/PC G923 model instead.
Assuming every G923 game uses TRUEFORCE
TRUEFORCE is title-specific. A compatible wheel connection is not the same as TRUEFORCE support.
Using one store’s price as a permanent benchmark
The observed prices differ between PlayStation Direct and Logitech’s US shop. Retail prices and inventory move, so compare live listings immediately before checkout.
Reading marketing language as test data
