Crashes, No Sound, or Screen Glitches?

Its biggest usability compromise is a touch-sensitive strip along the right edge: PC Gamer found it fiddly for adjusting volume and brightness, and the hardware makes the case wider than earlier Flow models. It comes in 68-, 84-, and 100-key layouts, so the right choice depends on whether you need a number pad and how much desk space you have.
Is the Lofree Flow 2 good to type on?
Independent reviewers describe the Flow 2 as a satisfying keyboard to type on. RTINGS highlights its anodized aluminum case, factory-lubed switches and stabilizers, and gasket mount, which gives the keys some cushion at bottom-out. It also says the low-profile design can be used comfortably without a wrist rest. Tom’s Guide reported about a 4% improvement in typing accuracy over the original Flow in its own test, with speed unchanged; that result applies to that reviewer’s testing, not to typists in general.

Sound is less settled. PC Gamer found the overall sound pleasing and “thocky,” while noting that the space bar sounded different. Tom’s Guide considered the two units it tested substantially noisy. Those impressions need not conflict: the sources do not isolate the effects of switch choice, sample variation, or reviewer setup, so there is no basis for assuming every Flow 2 will sound identical. RTINGS specifically cautions that the tactile switch option is somewhat loud.
What is awkward about the Flow 2’s design?
The right edge has a touch-sensitive strip. PC Gamer says it adjusts system volume by default and screen brightness when used with the Function key, but found it fiddly and not responsive at the desired speed. Unlike a physical knob or buttons, it offers no tactile control. Tom’s Guide notes that the case is wider than earlier Flow models to accommodate the touch-bar hardware, status light, and branding. The result is a distinctive control that takes up space without necessarily being easier to use.
#1 Best Overall
- CNC Forging:Precision CNC machining accurate to 0.01 mm shapes aluminum into a clean, solid unibody with no seams. Finished with a precise #205-grit bead-blasted anodization for scratch resistance and fingerprint protection.
- Unibody Anodized Aluminum Alloy:Features a solid, flat base plate crafted from a single piece of material, with rounded corners that eliminate sharp edges—delivering a sleek look while maintaining ergonomic comfort.
- Cloud Series Switches:Offering linear, tactile, and silent linear options. Three low-profile mechanical switches engineered for exceptional smoothness and control. Each switch features advanced self-lubricating POM material to reduce friction and deliver a satisfyingly smooth keystroke—offering a lighter press, stable bottom-out, and resilient initial feedback. They enhance crisp responsiveness and lighter actuation while maintaining smooth travel. A linear silent pre-lubricated option is also available, providing a whisper-soft, deeply satisfying tactile experience.
- Side Touch Bar:Swipe to control—command at your fingertips. A capacitive touch bar built into the side replaces traditional knobs and buttons with smooth gestures, designed for both efficiency and style, putting full control right where your fingers rest.
- Gasket Mount: The housing fully unlocks the potential of the gasket structure, enabling precise calibration with five layers of sound-dampening material for exceptional feel and acoustics.
The Flow 2 also has white-only backlighting, not RGB lighting. PC Gamer reports VIA support for remapping keys and creating macros, but readers who want a conventional volume knob or dedicated gaming controls may prefer a different keyboard.
Which Flow 2 size should you choose?
| Layout | Key count and format | Best fit |
|---|---|---|
| 68-key | 65% | Choose it if desk space is tight and you can do without a number pad. |
| 84-key | 75% | A middle ground if you want a compact layout but more keys than the 68-key version. |
| 100-key | 96% | Choose it if you want a number pad and a fuller keyboard layout. |
Switch availability can vary by configuration and retailer, so verify the exact option before buying. Tom’s Guide identifies Surfer as linear, Void as silent linear, and Pulse as tactile. RTINGS describes the tactile option as somewhat loud; if quieter typing is a priority, consider the silent-linear option where it is offered.

What features and connections does the 100-key model offer?
Lofree’s official 100-key product page lists an aluminum body, PBT + PC double-shot keycaps, white backlighting, hot-swappable switches, and a choice of 0° or 7° typing angle. It lists USB-C wired, Bluetooth 5.3, and 2.4GHz connections, with a 1000Hz polling rate over wired and 2.4GHz. The 100-key model measures 398.2 × 126 × 21.5 mm and weighs 870 g, according to Lofree.
The same product page lists compatibility with Windows, Android, macOS, iPadOS, and iOS. Lofree claims up to 120 hours of battery life over Bluetooth with the backlight off, or up to 14 hours with it on; these are manufacturer estimates, not independent measurements. RTINGS describes Bluetooth multi-device pairing and a 2.4GHz receiver for the Flow 2 lineup.

Lofree says the keyboard has full VIA support for customization. PC Gamer also reports VIA support for remapping and macros; the vendor’s customization claim should not be taken as independent validation of every possible configuration.

A customer review on Lofree’s site reports missing or incorrect legends for one buyer’s Nordic/Mac combination. That is an individual report, not evidence that all regional layouts have the same issue. If you use a non-US language layout or switch the keyboard between operating systems, confirm that the selected keycap legends and layout match your needs before ordering.

Is the Lofree Flow 2 worth it?
The Flow 2 makes the most sense for someone who values a low-profile mechanical keyboard’s typing feel and aluminum construction, and who is comfortable choosing a layout and switch configuration carefully. Its touch strip is a genuine ergonomic tradeoff rather than a must-have feature: it handles volume and brightness, but at least one reviewer found it frustrating to use, and it contributes to a wider case. If you prefer physical media controls, want RGB lighting, or need dedicated gaming controls, the design may be a poor fit.
