Start by locating the break: is your encoder’s video reaching Livepush, and is Livepush forwarding it to the intended YouTube event? Check those two links in order before changing settings. Livepush describes this encoder-to-Livepush-to-destination workflow and provides connection analytics in its dashboard. If you are using Livepush to relay a stream, the relevant fix depends on whether the source connection or the YouTube destination has failed.
1. Check whether your encoder reaches Livepush
Livepush is an intermediary: your encoder sends a source feed to Livepush, which forwards it to configured destinations. Livepush says an encoder is required and lists OBS, Streamlabs OBS, XSplit, Wirecast and vMix as examples. Livepush’s overview describes this workflow.
- Confirm the encoder is running and streaming the intended source.
- Check the encoder’s output status and Livepush’s connection analytics to see whether the source is arriving.
- If Livepush is not receiving the feed, troubleshoot the encoder and its connection to Livepush first. YouTube destination settings cannot fix a source feed that never reaches Livepush.
2. Check the YouTube destination in Livepush
Once the source reaches Livepush, check the destination configuration. The steps differ depending on whether you connected your YouTube account or entered a stream key manually.
If you connected your YouTube account
- Open your Livepush destination settings and check that the Google/YouTube account is still connected. Livepush identifies a disconnected social account as a common reason a connection stops.
- Reconnect the account if needed, then save the destination again.
- Confirm that the YouTube destination is enabled. If the event was not selected or created, use the connected-account flow to select or create one, set its details and privacy, save, and enable the destination.

If you entered a stream key manually
- In YouTube Live Control Room, create or select the event you intend to stream.
- Copy that event’s stream key into the YouTube destination in Livepush. A key for a different event may send the feed to the wrong place or prevent the intended event from receiving it.
- Save the destination and turn its switch on. Livepush says a manual destination must be set up for each event.
Keep the stream key private: anyone with access to it may be able to send video to your stream.
3. Confirm YouTube live streaming is enabled
The channel must be eligible to stream live. Livepush says live streaming may take up to 24 hours to become available after it is enabled on a new account. If you have just enabled the feature, allow for that activation period before treating the destination configuration as the cause.

4. Refresh the key if YouTube reports an encoder start error
If YouTube displays an error when starting your encoder, YouTube Help advises getting a new stream key in Live Control Room and updating the third-party encoder. If your software signs in to YouTube without a stream key and that connection fails, YouTube directs you to the software provider’s support team. Apply the fix to the system that actually holds the key: if Livepush is configured with a manual key, update that destination and save it.
Do not post a stream key in a support forum or send it in an unsecured message.

5. Check encoder health and outbound internet
Look at the encoder’s output, error messages and CPU load. If the encoder reports errors or is under heavy load, address those problems first. YouTube’s troubleshooting guidance says that when encoder output looks and sounds healthy, the outbound internet connection may be the issue: test the connection and contact your internet provider if the test identifies a problem.
A wired connection can be useful as an optional way to test outbound connectivity, but it is not a remedy for an incorrect stream key, disabled destination or disconnected account.

6. Check RTMPS only when it applies
Investigate RTMPS if that is the transport configured in your setup or the error points to it. Copy the actual RTMPS server URL from YouTube Live Control Room and confirm your encoder supports RTMPS. For an SSL error, YouTube advises checking that the URL uses RTMPS and mentions port 443 as a configuration to try. For a timeout, verify the server URL and encoder support. Use the URL for your event, not a sample hostname. See YouTube Help’s encoder troubleshooting guidance.

When the cause is still unclear, note which link fails and how the destination is authenticated. This narrows the next step without changing unrelated settings.

When escalating, share the observed status or exact error and whether the source feed reaches Livepush. For a connected-account integration problem, use Livepush’s help-center live chat route. For a failure in software that logs in to YouTube directly, YouTube directs users to that software provider’s support. Never include your stream key in a public report.
