Steam lists those accessibility options, along with save-anytime play and the ability to play without quick-time events. On PC, a controller is supported but optional; a May 14, 2024 controls guide reports that the developers recommend one. On mobile, controls were rebuilt for touch and controllers were not supported according to the official FAQ. If Kitty falls out of the world or becomes stuck, use Main Menu > Options > Unstick Me.

Little Kitty, Big City uses different button labels on PC, Xbox and Nintendo Switch. The table below reproduces the defaults reported by Dot Esports on May 14, 2024. A later patch can change an input, so treat these as the listed defaults and check the current in-game prompt when something does not match.

On PC, Steam lists full controller support. The same Dot Esports guide reports that the developers recommend a controller, but neither source says that a gamepad is required or that it is faster for every player. Choose based on the hand position, button labels and camera control that feel most comfortable to you.
Which accessibility settings should you change first?
Steam’s store listing identifies several accessibility features, but it does not document the exact menu path, individual slider behavior or a universally best value for any of them. Open the current version of the game’s options and review the labels below rather than assuming a setting has a particular toggle or numerical range.

1. Adjustable text size
Change text size first if objectives, prompts or menu labels are difficult to read. Larger text can reduce the need to lean toward the screen or repeatedly open a menu. The listing confirms that text size is adjustable; it does not state which screens are affected or provide a recommended percentage. Increase it only as far as needed to keep prompts readable without obscuring other interface elements.
2. Camera comfort
Review camera-comfort options before a long session if camera movement makes you uncomfortable or makes it harder to judge a jump. Steam names “camera comfort” as an accessibility feature but does not specify whether the current build exposes sensitivity, motion reduction, smoothing, field-of-view or another control. Because the individual effects are not established, read each description in your installed version and change one option at a time. If a change makes navigation less predictable, return to the previous value.
3. Custom volume controls
Use the custom-volume controls to build a mix that is comfortable for your room, headphones and hearing needs. The listing confirms that separate or adjustable audio levels are available, but it does not enumerate the channels or prescribe values. Lower any level that masks dialogue or environmental cues, and confirm that important sounds remain audible after adjusting the mix. Steam also lists stereo and surround sound support; the available output depends on your platform and audio equipment.

4. Save anytime
Steam lists “save anytime” as a gameplay accessibility feature. That means the store listing represents saving at any time as part of the game’s accessible design, but it does not explain the exact save command, whether a save is manual or automatic, or how many save slots are available. Check the live menu wording before relying on a particular sequence during a difficult activity.
5. Play without quick-time events
Steam also says the game is playable without quick-time events. This is useful if timed button prompts are uncomfortable or inaccessible. The listing does not explain whether the option appears during initial setup or inside the options menu, so look for the current in-game label rather than following an undocumented path.
PC controls: keyboard, mouse or controller?
PC players have two documented input choices. Keyboard and mouse use the keys in the table above, while Steam confirms full controller support. The reported developer preference for a controller is a recommendation, not a requirement.

When keyboard and mouse make sense
- You already use the WASD layout comfortably.
- You prefer the direct menu shortcuts: Esc for the menu, I for inventory, T for the to-do list, C for photo mode and M for the map.
- You want the mouse button for interaction and are comfortable holding keyboard keys for movement, sprinting or crawling.
The precise-jump input is a hold action: hold Space while aiming with WASD. Sprinting uses Left Shift, crawling uses Ctrl, and swiping uses either 2 or R. Practice those holds in a safe area so you know whether your hand position is comfortable before attempting a narrow jump.

When a controller may be more comfortable
- You prefer analog movement from the left stick.
- You find simultaneous movement and camera adjustments easier with two sticks and face buttons.
- You want the same general style of input used on Xbox or Switch.
An Xbox-compatible PC controller is a reasonable optional choice for someone who prefers gamepad input. The available evidence does not identify a particular model, test a specific controller or establish that a gamepad improves performance for everyone. Confirm that your controller is recognized by the operating system and by the game, then use the in-game prompts to verify the buttons.
Xbox and Nintendo Switch: avoid the button-label trap
Xbox and Switch share the same left-stick movement and A-button jump, but several face-button labels differ. On Xbox, interaction is X and meow is Y; on Switch, interaction is Y and meow is X. Their sprint, crawl and swipe shoulder-button labels also differ. Use the column for the console in your hands rather than translating from a PC guide or another console.

- Zoomies: hold RB; crawl: hold LB.
- Swipe: LT or RT.
- Meow: Y; hold Y to react or emote.
- Menu: Menu button.
- Inventory: D-pad right; to-do list: D-pad left.
- Photo mode: D-pad down; map: D-pad up.
Nintendo Switch defaults
- Movement: left stick.
- Interact: Y; jump: A.
- Precise jump: hold A and aim with the left stick.

The sources establish these defaults but do not document console-level remapping steps. If your platform or controller offers its own button-remapping facility, treat that as a separate system feature and verify the resulting prompts in the game.

The official Double Dagger Studio FAQ says the mobile controls were rebuilt for the mobile version. It also says controller use was not supported at the time of that FAQ. For mobile, plan to use touch controls rather than assuming that a Bluetooth or wired gamepad will work.

What to do if Kitty gets stuck
If Kitty is trapped, falls out of the world or reaches an invalid position on PC or console, use the official recovery command:
- Open the Main Menu.
- Choose Options.
- Select Unstick Me.
Double Dagger Studio describes the result as: “This will teleport Kitty back to a safe, valid location on the map.” Use this recovery option before closing the game or repeatedly retrying the same jump. It is a position-reset tool, not a control remapping feature, so it does not change your bindings or accessibility settings.
A practical first-session setup
- Identify the platform. Use the PC, Xbox, Switch or mobile guidance that matches your copy.
- Check the live prompts. The published PC, Xbox and Switch defaults are from May 14, 2024, so compare them with the current version after an update.
- Choose an input device. On PC, try keyboard and mouse or an optional supported controller. On mobile, use touch because the official FAQ says controllers were unavailable at that time.
- Increase text size if needed. Confirm that objectives and menus remain readable from your normal seating position.
- Review camera comfort. Change only the camera option whose description matches your concern, then test movement and jumping.
- Set custom volume levels. Adjust the available channels for your listening environment and check that useful sounds remain audible.
- Look for save-anytime and no-QTE options. Steam lists both features, but the exact controls and menu locations can vary by current build.
- Practice the compound actions. Test precise jump, Zoomies, crawl and swipe before using them in a risky location.
Languages and listing details
Steam lists 13 interface and subtitle languages. The Xbox listing also reports 13 supported languages. These are store-listing language counts, not a measure of accessibility quality or reading difficulty. Select the language that best supports your reading needs in the platform’s current settings, then use adjustable text size if the interface remains hard to read.
How to choose the most comfortable setup
There is no documented performance test showing that one input method is objectively easier for every player. Compare the options on four concrete factors:
- Platform: PC, Xbox, Switch and mobile expose different controls and, in mobile’s case, different controller availability.
- Preferred device: keyboard and mouse, a supported PC controller, a console gamepad or touch input.
- Button-label comfort: Xbox and Switch swap the labels used for interaction and meow, so familiar symbols matter.
- Physical comfort: consider whether holding Shift, Ctrl or Space is more comfortable than holding a trigger, bumper or face button.
Start with the arrangement that minimizes strain and makes the most-used actions easy to reach. Recheck the prompts after patches, because the published defaults are a dated reference rather than a guarantee that every current build is identical.
