Little Kitty, Big City is scheduled to arrive on iPhone, iPad and eligible Android devices on October 12, 2026, according to developer Double Dagger Studio. The mobile release is free to try, with a one-time purchase to unlock the rest of the game. The studio says it will be available everywhere except China at launch, with China coming later.
When does Little Kitty, Big City come to Android and iOS?
Double Dagger Studio’s mobile FAQ gives October 12, 2026, as the launch date for iPhone, iPad and eligible Android devices. There is a date discrepancy to be aware of: when checked, the US Apple App Store listing showed “Expected Dec 31, 2026,” rather than October 12. That store entry is an expected date, not a second confirmed launch date; the studio’s FAQ is the source for the stated October 12 release.

Which phones, tablets and regions are included?
The studio says the game is coming to iPhone, iPad and thousands of Android phones and tablets. That wording is broad rather than a guarantee for every device: some Android devices do not meet Google Play’s requirements. The FAQ reviewed does not specify a minimum Android version, so check the Google Play listing on the device you intend to use.

The FAQ does not give a date for China.

- UK e-store account may be required for any online features
Is the mobile game free?
You can download and play a portion of the game for free, then make a one-time in-app purchase to unlock the full adventure. Google Play describes the unlock as permanent and says there is no subscription. On Apple’s US App Store listing, the full-game unlock was shown at $12.99 when checked; that is a US storefront price, not a global price, and store prices can change.
Where does the free trial end?
The Apple listing says the trial ends after you collect and turn in 25 Shinies to Crow. Your progress carries over if you buy the full game. Camera and augmented-reality features are not available during the trial; the store listings say they require the full unlock.

Are there ads or extra paid content?
Double Dagger Studio says the mobile game has no ads and no paid DLC. The full-game unlock is the separate purchase described by the studio.

The studio says mobile contains nearly all of the original adventure, with controls rebuilt for touchscreens and an exclusive augmented-reality mode. The game follows a cat exploring a city, meeting stray animals, collecting hats and trying to find its way home. Camera and AR features require the full-game unlock.

There are two important platform limits: the studio says controllers are not supported at this time, and saves from PC or console versions cannot transfer to mobile.
Do PC or console owners get the mobile game?
No. The mobile release is a separate purchase from the PC and console versions. Owning the game on another platform does not unlock the mobile version, and mobile progress does not transfer to PC or console.

- BUILDS PLANNING & SEQUENTIAL THINKING — Cats & Boxes develops five STEM-connected cognitive skills with every puzzle: planning, logic, spatial insight, problem solving and concentration. Because you move the box pieces one at a time — and each must fit back on the board before the next move — you have to think several moves ahead and picture the whole sequence, the multi-step reasoning that underpins mathematics, coding and logical thinking. It's so much fun to play, you'll forget you're building real skills.
- DESIGNED FOR AGES 7 TO ADULT — 60 CHALLENGES TO WIZARD LEVEL — Starter challenges solve in just a few moves; Wizard challenges make you cover a cat with a box only to move it again later, and genuinely test adults. Early challenges welcome a 7-year-old; the hardest push seasoned puzzlers. One game the whole family puzzles through together, each at their own level.
- MOVE THE BOXES, HIDE THE CATS — These cats are dying to get into a box! Choose a challenge and place the cats and box pieces on the board as shown. Then move the box pieces around — one at a time, each fitting back onto the board before you move the next — until every cat is tucked snugly inside a cardboard box. Plan the order carefully, because you'll often need to cover one cat, then shift that box later. One solution every time.
- THE PERFECT TRAVEL BRAIN GAME FOR EVERY GENERATION — Everything packs into the compact case with a lid — just close it and go. It's ideal for planes, road trips, restaurants and grandparents' houses, with no loose pieces to lose. The same puzzle that builds a child's planning gives adults a satisfying screen-free challenge and offers older adults an engaging mental workout that helps keep the mind sharp and active — a purr-fect, thoughtful gift across generations.
- AWARD-WINNING BELGIAN DESIGN — Cats & Boxes comes from Raf Peeters, one of SmartGames' most celebrated designers, who set out to create something complex from very simple rules. From SmartGames, the worldwide leader in multi-level logic games, with 30+ years of award-winning design from Belgium, trusted by families, educators and puzzle lovers in 80+ countries. Portable case included, plus a free companion app with hints for the trickiest challenges.
Does one mobile purchase work on both iPhone and Android?
No. The purchase is tied to its app-store platform: an App Store purchase does not also unlock the Google Play version, or vice versa. You would need to purchase the game separately on the other platform.
