The Linux Foundation’s July 2025 newsletter, published July 16, was an ecosystem roundup: it covered the launch of the Agent2Agent Protocol Project and OpenSTX Foundation, Open Source Summit North America in Denver, research and project updates, and events. Its promotions and event dates are historical, not current offers or schedules.

What the July 2025 issue covered

The issue was not limited to Linux kernel news. It combined foundation and protocol announcements with Linux Foundation Research highlights, training promotion, project updates, and an August events calendar. The descriptions below report what the newsletter said at publication; they do not establish that project arrangements, schedules, or offers remain current.

Major announcements

Open Source Summit North America in Denver

The newsletter thanked developers, maintainers, and members who attended Open Source Summit North America in Denver, describing it as a major community gathering that month. It linked to a SiliconANGLE recap, but the newsletter did not itself detail or substantiate that recap’s claims.

Agent2Agent Protocol Project

The Linux Foundation announced the launch of the Agent2Agent Protocol Project. The newsletter described A2A as an open standard developed by Google for secure, interoperable communication between AI agents. It did not explain the protocol’s technical mechanisms or provide a security analysis or comparison with other agent protocols. Read the July 2025 newsletter.

OpenSTX Foundation

The newsletter reported that the Joint Development Foundation launched the OpenSTX Foundation to standardize Synchronous Transmission (STX)-based wireless networking. It also said the foundation and associated structures would oversee some of the Linux Foundation’s largest projects, including CNCF, and that Bryce would serve as Executive Director. The issue did not give further detail about the scope of that oversight or identify Bryce more fully.

Research and education

Japanese tech talent and AI

LF Research featured its 2025 State of Tech Talent Report, including a report on Japan. The newsletter said Japan lagged other regions in public-cloud infrastructure use, faced larger talent gaps in cloud and other areas, and that nearly all Japanese organizations expected AI to provide significant value. It supplied no survey figures or methodological detail, so these are the newsletter’s summary of the report rather than quantified findings presented in the issue.

Open-source AI strategy forum

The issue also highlighted a publication summarizing the 2025 GOSIM Open Source AI Strategy Forum, held May 5, 2025, in Paris.

Training promotion

The newsletter advertised 40% off Linux Foundation training and certifications with code JULY25TT, describing it as a two-day offer. The promotion was time-limited in July 2025 and has expired; it should not be treated as a discount available now.

Project updates

KernelCI

Under “What’s New in KernelCI?” the newsletter reported new participation from Linaro and ELISA; work on kcidb-ng and infrastructure cost and performance; test result submissions from Qualcomm, RISC-V International, and Texas Instruments; and a proposed .kernelci.yml standard. These are updates reported in July 2025, not confirmation of present project status.

OpenJS Foundation

The OpenJS roundup included the JSConf 2025 speaker announcement, Harper’s Silver membership, and an OpenJS Security Checkpoint update. The newsletter said JSConf talks would cover areas including AI, WebGPU, performance, authentication, accessibility, Node.js, and open-source culture.

For present-day event schedules, use the Linux Foundation’s current events calendar rather than relying on this historical issue: July 2025 newsletter.
