Lido’s Community Staking Module (CSM) does require operators to provide collateral, but the required bond depends on the assigned bond curve and the operator’s validator-key count or position. Without the exact proposal and a like-for-like comparison, the multiplier should be treated as unconfirmed.
What Lido’s entry bond is for
Lido describes CSM as permissionless for community stakers able to operate validators and supply a bond. The bond is collateral associated with a node operator’s validators, intended to cover losses linked to operator conduct; it is not a separate bond for each individual validator. Why “the default bond” is not one fixed comparison
A new operator is typically assigned a default bond curve, but the required amount per validator key depends on both the curve and the operator’s total number of keys. The amount can also differ by key position along a curve. So a claim that one route needs “over 13 times” the default bond is incomplete unless it identifies the proposed route and curve, the default curve used as the baseline, and the same operator and key-count assumptions for both sides. The available official proposal material does not substantiate the comparison. LIP-33 discusses Curated Module v2 and a migration from the legacy curated module, but the available material does not name the route described in the claim or supply the bond figures needed to calculate the multiple. That is not enough to conclude LIP-33 is the proposal in question. LIP-33

Until the specific proposal and its parameters are identified, the “over 13 times” figure cannot be independently confirmed. A reliable comparison needs the proposed and default curve values, the validator-key count and sequence being compared, and the units used. It should also distinguish a proposed parameter from one that has been approved or put into effect.
The bond is part of ongoing accounting, not simply an entry fee
Lido accounts for Node Operator rewards separately from rewards generated by rebasing stETH held as bond. Its rewards guide describes claimable excess as what remains after the required bond is subtracted from the operator’s bond and rewards. Because the bond is held in stETH, its effective value when measured in ETH can change with rebases. LIP-26 notes that a negative rebase can reduce that ETH-denominated value. A bond should not be described as a fixed ETH amount unless the proposal itself specifies one. LIP-26
