The LG xboom Grab is a small, strap-equipped Bluetooth speaker built for carrying outdoors, not for filling a large space with sound. LG rates it IP67 and claims up to 20 hours per charge under specific test conditions; RTINGS’ review supports its outdoor suitability but finds limited maximum volume, little deep bass, mono playback from stereo sources unless you pair another unit, and Bluetooth delay that can disrupt video lip-sync.
What the LG xboom Grab is—and who it suits
At 211.0 × 71.6 × 70.0 mm, the Grab is designed to travel easily. LG highlights its built-in strap, and its CES 2025 announcement says it can be held, stood upright, placed on its side, or secured to objects such as a bicycle bottle cage. It makes sense for personal listening, a picnic, or a bike ride where portability and weather resistance matter more than room-filling output.

LG lists Bluetooth Auracast, AI Lighting, AI Sound, and Space Calibration on its UK product page. Those features add flexibility, but they do not change the core trade-off: this is a compact speaker, and independent testing finds it does not get especially loud.

RTINGS describes the Grab as acceptable for music, with balanced midrange and treble when Bass Boost is enabled and audible punch in the high bass. It does not reach far into deep bass, so bass-heavy tracks will sound less weighty than they would on a larger speaker.
#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Maximum loudness is another constraint. RTINGS reports that compression at high volume can reduce punch, so turning it all the way up does not necessarily deliver a proportionate increase in impact. For close-range listening outdoors, that may be an acceptable compromise; for a noisy gathering or a larger area, a louder speaker is a better fit.
Does the Grab play stereo?
Not by itself from a stereo source. RTINGS says the Grab downmixes stereo audio to mono unless you pair it with another unit. If stereo separation matters, check the pairing setup you intend to use or choose a model that preserves stereo playback without needing a second speaker.

How long does the battery last?
LG’s 2026 manual lists a 4,700 mAh battery and approximately 20 hours of operation. That is an internal LG test result at 50% volume, with lighting off and Voice Enhance EQ; LG says actual runtime varies with use. LG lists charging at three hours or less, while cautioning that charging time depends on battery and operating status.

Is the LG xboom Grab waterproof?
LG rates the Grab IP67. Its 2026 manual describes the water-resistance test as immersion in fresh water up to 1 meter for up to 30 minutes under controlled laboratory conditions. This rating does not establish protection against every liquid, water pressure, or real-world exposure.
LG says to dry the speaker before using it and not to charge it while wet. Its CES 2025 release also describes compliance with Military Standard 810G durability claims; that is LG’s claim, not an independent verification of durability in every condition.

Can you use it to watch videos?
Bluetooth latency can make audio and video fall out of sync, according to RTINGS. Some devices or apps compensate for that delay, but the correction is not guaranteed across every setup. The Grab is a safer choice for music than for watching video over Bluetooth when precise lip-sync matters.
How it compares with alternatives
These are RTINGS’ comparative findings, not universal rankings. The best fit depends on whether you value loudness, battery life, stereo behavior, or design more than the Grab’s portability and feature set.

| Speaker | What RTINGS says relative to the Grab |
|---|---|
| JBL Flip 7 | Gets louder and has IP68; the Grab has longer battery life and microphone support for a phone assistant. |
| LG xboom Bounce | Lasts longer, gets louder, and plays stereo without downmixing; the Grab has better bass extension. |
| UE BOOM 4 | Provides 360-degree sound and avoids mono downmixing. |
| Bose SoundLink Flex (2nd Gen) | A more understated design alternative. |
Verdict
The LG xboom Grab is a practical compact speaker if you want a rugged, easy-to-carry design, lighting and sound modes, and long battery life under LG’s stated test conditions. Its limits are meaningful: modest output, restrained deep bass, mono playback from stereo sources unless paired, and possible video-sync delay. Choose it for portable outdoor music rather than maximum volume, standalone stereo, or Bluetooth video watching.
