What the LG TWIN171216T includes
LG Australia lists three distinct capacities: a 16 kg front-loading main washer, a 2.5 kg MiniWasher and a 9 kg dryer. The 18.5 kg combined wash capacity is the sum of the two washers; it is not the capacity of one drum, and the drying capacity is lower than the main washer’s wash capacity. These are manufacturer specifications, not independent measurements. LG Australia’s TWIN171216T listing and its 2017 specification sheet describe the main washer as model WD1216HTE and the MiniWasher as WTP2071V.

Who benefits from the second washer?
The practical case for this design is parallel laundry: LG describes the MiniWasher as suitable for specialty items such as delicates, while the main washer takes a regular load. You can therefore separate a small load without waiting for the larger wash to finish. Whether that convenience matters depends on your routine; the 2.5 kg mini capacity and cold-water-only operation constrain what it can handle. The product sheet presents simultaneous washing as a system feature, not as independent evidence of a particular time saving or cleaning result.
Will it fit, and can it be installed?
LG Australia lists overall dimensions of 700 mm wide × 1340 mm high × 835 mm deep. It gives the main unit’s weight as 105 kg and the MiniWasher’s as 48.7 kg. Those figures make delivery access, placement and floor suitability important checks, not afterthoughts.

What independent testing is publicly available?
CHOICE’s LG TWIN171216T review page identifies the model as a front-loading washing machine, but its expert rating and performance measures—including dirt removal, rinse performance, gentleness, water and spin efficiency, cycle time and noise—are available to members only. The public page does not provide enough information to report a test score or reach a tested-performance verdict. Warranty, availability and parts
LG Australia lists two years of parts and labour coverage plus eight additional years of Inverter Direct Drive motor parts coverage. The additional motor coverage is not an eight-year full-appliance warranty.
