LG TVs have a built-in Energy Saving setting that can reduce power use by lowering peak screen brightness. It costs nothing to try, but it can make the picture dimmer, and LG does not publish a universal monthly-bill saving: the result depends on your TV, how long you watch, the setting you choose and your electricity rate.
What LG TV Energy Saving does
LG USA Support describes the feature this way: “The Energy Saving Feature reduces power consumption by adjusting peak screen brightness.” In practical terms, the TV limits how bright the screen can get, which may reduce electricity use. A darker picture is the trade-off.

Depending on the model, the choices may include Auto, Minimum, Medium, Maximum and Off. Auto uses ambient-light detection on supported models. The options and their behavior are not identical across every LG TV.
How to turn Energy Saving on or adjust it
Menu names and locations vary by model and webOS generation. Try the path that matches your TV; if the labels differ, use the TV’s built-in help or its model-specific manual.

Why your LG TV may keep getting darker
Energy Saving is one possible cause of brightness changes. LG also advises checking the picture mode when troubleshooting a screen that looks unexpectedly dim. Menu labels and troubleshooting steps vary by model and software generation.

Does Energy Saving actually save electricity?
It can, because reducing peak screen brightness can reduce power consumption. The amount is not fixed: it varies with the TV model and selected level. LG’s published figures for older LH200C models illustrate that variation, but they are historical measurements—not estimates for a current TV or a prediction of a household bill.

| LG model | Maximum setting | Off setting | LG-reported saving at Maximum |
|---|---|---|---|
| 42LH200C | 60.3 W | 128 W | 52.9% — LG Electronics USA Business, 2010-era document |
| 37LH200C | 54.1 W | 112 W | 51.7% — LG Electronics USA Business, 2010-era document |
| 32LH200C | 41.2 W | 88.6 W | 53.5% — LG Electronics USA Business, 2010-era document |
| 22LH200C | 16.6 W | 36.15 W | 54.1% — LG Electronics USA Business, 2010-era document |
Those figures come from LG Electronics USA Business’s legacy product document and apply only to the listed models and LG’s stated measurement conditions. The same table shows that Minimum slightly increased measured use over Off on some listed models, underscoring that settings do not produce the same result on every model. The document does not establish a precise publication year, so the measurements should not be treated as current-TV performance.

What that means for your monthly bill
There is no supported universal dollar figure for monthly savings. The bill impact depends on your particular TV’s power use at the chosen setting, viewing hours and local electricity price. Energy Saving is a free setting to try on a TV you already own; no replacement TV, special remote or plug-in meter is needed to enable it.
