To change the aspect ratio on an LG OLED TV, open Settings → Picture → Aspect Ratio and choose a fit. Older webOS versions use additional menu levels. If the picture is stretched, cropped, or enlarged, check the selected ratio and any zoom option; the available choices depend on the TV model, input signal, and picture mode.
Change the aspect ratio by webOS version
LG lists different menu paths for different webOS generations. Use the labels displayed on your TV, since menu wording and layout can vary by model. The paths below come from LG’s aspect-ratio guide.

- webOS 24 or 23: Press Settings on the remote, open Settings, then choose Picture → Aspect Ratio and select an option.
- webOS 22 or 6.0: Press Settings, then go to All Settings → Picture → Aspect Ratio → User Selection.
- webOS 5.0 or older: Press Settings, then go to All Settings → Picture → Aspect Ratio Settings → Aspect Ratio.
If the menu does not match these paths, look up the user guide for your exact TV model rather than assuming every LG OLED has the same choices.

Fix a stretched, cropped, or oversized picture
If the picture looks stretched
Check whether the TV is set to 16:9. If the image still looks wrong, try Original Ratio. LG recommends these checks for picture-fit problems, though the labels and availability can vary by model. See LG’s picture-fit troubleshooting guide.

If edges or captions are cut off
Look for a setting named Zoom, Cinema Zoom, or another zoom option, and switch away from it to compare the picture. A zoomed image may enlarge the frame and cut off part of the screen, including captions. LG describes these symptoms in its screen and caption troubleshooting guide.
Choose between filling the screen and preserving the image
Filling more of the display can crop the edges or change the source’s shape. Preserving the source’s proportions can leave unused screen area. If you want the whole image without distortion, favor a setting that avoids zooming and stretching; use zoom only when you prefer an enlarged presentation.

Why the setting may change between inputs or apps
Aspect-ratio settings may differ when you switch between HDMI, Live TV, and other inputs. If your TV offers Apply to All Inputs, selecting it may carry the adjustment across inputs. LG also notes that built-in apps can return to their defaults after you leave the app or turn off the TV. If the fit changes, check which input or app is active and adjust it there if needed.
