Its published specifications make it a large-capacity option, but its 914 mm width, water connection requirement and E energy grade are important buying considerations. The available evidence covers manufacturer specifications and a retailer listing, not independent hands-on testing, so this is a specification-based assessment rather than a performance review.
What capacity does the GMG96CRAFT offer?
LG lists 638 litres of total capacity: 364 litres for the refrigerator and 274 litres for the freezer. The freezer figure includes a 15-litre two-star compartment and a 13-litre ice-making room, so the headline total is not all conventional fridge or freezer storage. That split is more useful than the 638-litre headline when judging whether the appliance suits your household. Check whether the refrigerator and freezer proportions match the food you typically store, and remember that compartments reserved for ice or with a different star rating are not equivalent to general-purpose freezer space.

Will it fit in your kitchen and through the delivery route?
LG gives the dimensions as 914 mm wide, 1,792 mm high and 729 mm deep; the depth without the door is 684 mm. The appliance weighs 148 kg. Measure the intended space and the route from the entrance to the kitchen, including narrow doorways, turns and stairs. A cabinet-space measurement alone does not confirm that a large appliance can be delivered or positioned.

Before arranging delivery, check ventilation clearances and door movement against the current GMG96CRAFT owner’s manual. Ask the installer whether doors need to be removed to get the appliance into place and whether the access route allows for that work.
Does it need plumbing?
Yes. The dispenser and automatic Slim SpacePlus ice maker require a connection to the home’s water supply. LG describes a plumbed fridge as one connected directly to the supply for its ice and water dispenser. The model dispenses both cubed and crushed ice.
If there is no accessible water feed where the appliance will stand, account for the extra installation work before buying. If plumbing is impractical, a model with a water tank—or no dispenser—may be a better fit. Do not assume that a generic connection kit or filter is compatible without checking the model requirements.

LG’s product information sheet lists an E energy grade, estimated electricity consumption of 359 kWh per year, and sound power of 40 dB with a sound power grade of C. These are label and specification values, not independent test results or a promise of what the appliance will cost to run in your home.

For a meaningful running-cost estimate, multiply 359 kWh by your electricity unit rate; the result is an estimate based on the published annual consumption, not a bill forecast. Actual use can differ with room temperature, settings, door opening and how the fridge is loaded. When comparing alternatives, use the same regional energy-label figures and compare capacity as well as annual consumption.
Which features does LG advertise?
InstaView
The glass panel lights the interior when tapped twice, letting you look inside without opening the door. That may be convenient for checking contents, but whether it is worth prioritising depends on how useful the viewing panel is in your kitchen. Cooling and frost-free functions
LG lists Linear Cooling, DoorCooling+ and Total No Frost. The company says Linear Cooling limits temperature fluctuation to ±0.5°C. Treat that as LG’s description of its technology, not an independent measurement of food freshness or a comparison with other models.
Connectivity and fast freezing
ThinQ Wi-Fi and Smart Diagnosis are listed alongside Express Freeze. These provide app connectivity, a diagnostic feature and a fast-freezing mode, respectively. The product information establishes their presence, but not how well they work in day-to-day use or how useful they will be for a particular household.

What warranty applies?
LG’s product page states that compressor parts have a 10-year warranty and also advertises a five-year warranty registration offer. Costco’s listing describes a five-year parts-and-labour promotion subject to purchase terms and registration. Those are not interchangeable coverage descriptions: the compressor-parts statement does not mean the whole appliance has ten years of parts-and-labour cover.
Before purchase, confirm the offer period, registration deadline, territory, covered components and labour, and the proof-of-purchase requirements with the retailer or LG. The terms that apply to your transaction matter more than a general promotional headline.
Price and availability
Costco UK showed the GMG96CRAFT at £2,699.98 and out of stock on 7 October 2026. Who should consider the LG GMG96CRAFT?
- It may suit you if you need substantial fridge and freezer capacity, have room for a wide multi-door appliance, and can provide a water connection for the dispenser.
- Look carefully at alternatives if your kitchen is tight, you want a dispenser that does not require plumbing, or low energy consumption is a priority. Compare the usable capacity split, dimensions, annual kWh, noise rating, ice features and warranty terms—not just the total litres.
On the available specifications, the GMG96CRAFT’s case rests on its large capacity and convenience features. Whether those justify its footprint, installation needs and running-energy rating depends on your kitchen and priorities. Independent reliability and real-world performance are not established by the published specifications.
