The LG Gallery TV is best understood as an art-display-first television, not a top pick for movie picture quality or advanced console gaming. Its framed look, included snow-white bezel, matte screen, and Gallery+ artwork access are the draw. But RTINGS’ evaluation of the 65-inch model found low peak brightness, poor contrast, and no local dimming—limitations that can make movies look flat and leave the screen struggling in bright rooms.
LG sells the Gallery in 55-inch and 65-inch versions in the US. The prices shown on LG’s product pages on October 5, 2026, were promotional offers, not guaranteed current prices. Here’s what the design and features offer, what independent testing found, and who should consider buying one.

What makes the LG Gallery different?
Framed design and matte screen
LG positions this set as a television that can blend into a room as displayed art. Both sizes include a snow-white attachable frame; other frames are sold separately. The matte screen is intended to minimize reflections, and an automatic brightness control feature senses room lighting and adjusts screen brightness. Those are LG’s descriptions of the features, not a guarantee of how the TV will look in every room.
Gallery+ artwork and smart-TV features
The TV runs webOS and includes access to LG Gallery+. LG says Gallery+ lets users explore and display over 5,000 works of art. That is LG’s count, not an independently audited library total. Some features require an internet connection, an LG account, and a Gallery+ subscription, so check the service terms for the features you plan to use.

In a May 18, 2026, announcement, LG said a complimentary three-month Gallery+ subscription was available in select markets, including the US, at launch. That dated announcement does not establish whether the trial is still available or whether a particular purchase qualifies.

RTINGS reviewed the 65-inch LG Gallery and describes its findings as valid for the 55-inch model, with no reported difference beyond screen size. Its overall assessment is disappointing: it cites low peak brightness, poor contrast, and no local dimming. RTINGS says the TV is not bright enough to overcome glare or produce an impactful picture, and that movies can look flat and dull. These are RTINGS’ test conclusions, not a universal result for every room or a hands-on assessment by this publication.

The distinction matters for a set marketed around art. A matte finish and brightness adjustment may support its intended display role, but they do not establish that it will perform well in a sunlit room. If you care about movie impact, compare independent picture-quality assessments alongside the styling features.
Is the LG Gallery good for gaming?
RTINGS reports that the set lacks support for higher refresh rates and HDMI 2.1 bandwidth, while it does offer VRR and basic gaming features. Gaming is possible, but the reported limitations make it a less compelling choice for players seeking the higher-refresh-rate and bandwidth features associated with modern consoles and gaming PCs.

Should you buy the LG Gallery 2026?
It may suit you if
- You want a television designed to resemble framed wall art and value the included white frame.
- You expect to display artwork and are comfortable checking Gallery+ subscription and account requirements.
- You are choosing between the 55-inch 55LX7BPUA and 65-inch 65LX7BPUA based on room fit, and the price you find is acceptable.
Look elsewhere if
- Movie brightness, contrast, and a more impactful picture are your main priorities; RTINGS reports limitations in those areas.
- You want advanced gaming support, including higher refresh rates and HDMI 2.1 bandwidth.
- You need an art-style TV whose performance in a bright room is already established by the evidence you trust; LG’s feature descriptions alone do not settle that question.
What to compare before choosing an art-style TV
RTINGS names Samsung The Frame 2026, Hisense CanvasTV 2026, and TCL NXTVISION as comparison candidates. That does not establish a winner across current regional versions or prices. Compare the exact models you can buy, using the same screen size where possible.
