The LG C6 OLED is a premium 4K OLED TV for 2026, built around LG’s Alpha 11 AI Processor Gen3 and a gaming feature set aimed at high refresh-rate play. It is not one product in four sizes. Independent reviews describe the 42-inch model as less bright, the 48-inch as using a different panel construction, and only the 65-inch as tested directly. RTINGS reads the C6 as a very minor upgrade over the C5, while TechRadar calls it a clear step up. Whether it is worth its launch price depends on the size you need, the room you put it in, and what discounted C5 stock is available when you shop.
What LG launched and what it cost
LG Electronics USA’s 2026 flagship pricing and availability announcement lists the C6 family at six sizes, from 42 to 83 inches, with U.S. availability in March 2026. The four models covered here carried these U.S. launch MSRPs:

LG’s footnotes also limit which features apply to which sizes. Hyper Radiant Color Technology is listed only for the 77- and 83-inch OLED evo C6 models. Brightness Booster Pro is listed for those larger sizes. Brightness Booster is listed for the 48-, 55- and 65-inch C6. The 42-inch model is not on that list. None of the four models in this review should be assumed to carry the larger C6H feature set.

Four sizes, four different products
The naming pattern suggests one TV in four sizes. The independent reviews point to real differences between them, and the reviewers do not treat every size the same way.
OLED42C6PUA: the brightness trade-off
RTINGS says the 42-inch model lacks Brightness Booster and is not as bright as the larger sizes. For a small desk or bedroom display, that matters less than it would in a bright living room, but it is the clearest difference in the lineup. LG’s product page for this model lists NVIDIA G-SYNC, AMD FreeSync Premium and a 0.1ms response time. Those are LG’s product claims, not measurements from a reviewer.
OLED48C6PUA: the outlier
RTINGS describes the 48-inch as an outlier that uses a tandem panel similar to the one in the C6H. Because of that, RTINGS says its main C6 review does not apply to this size. If you are considering the 48-inch, look for review data on that model specifically rather than assuming the 65-inch results carry over.

OLED55C6PUA: tested by inference
RTINGS bought and tested the 65-inch set and says those results also apply to the 55-inch. That is the reviewer’s own transfer of findings, not a separate test of the 55-inch. Treat it as a reasonable expectation, not a confirmed measurement for this size.
OLED65C6PUA: the size with direct review data
The 65-inch is the only model in this group that both RTINGS and TechRadar reviewed. Both describe it as a step up from the C5, though they weigh the improvement differently, as covered below. If you want the most direct review evidence for the C6, this is the size with it.
What the independent reviews found
RTINGS: a very minor upgrade over the C5
RTINGS calls the C6 a very minor incremental upgrade over the C5. It reports a small brightness improvement with some content, especially brighter HDR scenes, slightly brighter colors, and substantially improved gradient handling. It also says buyers may be better served by discounted C5 stock, given the C6’s launch price.

TechRadar: a clearer step up at 65 inches
TechRadar’s review, headlined “LG C6 review: a brighter, faster and more accurate-looking OLED TV,” is more positive. It describes the set as a nice step up over the C5. It also notes that the C5 was significantly cheaper when the C6 was reviewed. The review concerns the 65-inch model and does not extend its findings to the other sizes.
Tom’s Guide: the price objection
Tom’s Guide’s review carries the headline “The best OLED TV you shouldn’t buy (yet),” which signals the same price concern the other two reviews raise, framed more skeptically.
Gaming and HDR: LG’s claims and what reviews confirm
LG lists the C6 for 4K at 165Hz with VRR, along with NVIDIA G-SYNC and AMD FreeSync Premium support on the 42-inch product page. TechRadar’s specification summary confirms a 165Hz panel and four HDMI 2.1 ports. Response time and input lag figures in LG’s materials are manufacturer claims; the reviews cited here do not provide independent numeric results that can be quoted for them.

On HDR and audio formats, the reviews agree on the gaps. The C6 supports Dolby Vision, HDR10, HLG and Dolby Atmos. TechRadar says it supports neither HDR10+ nor DTS, and that Dolby Vision 2 is unsupported. RTINGS also reports no HDR10+ support and no DTS passthrough. If your sources or audio system depend on HDR10+ or DTS, the C6 is not the right fit. Specifications were taken from the reviews, so confirm them against the exact regional model before relying on them for compatibility.

- Choose the size first. The 42-inch and 48-inch models differ from the 65-inch in ways that change the value calculation, so decide the size before comparing prices.
- Find the current C6 price for that exact model number. Compare the listing against LG’s launch MSRP in the table above, and check whether the seller is an authorized retailer.
- Find the current C5 price for the same size. RTINGS and TechRadar both point to discounted C5 stock as the obvious alternative. Only the price on the day you buy determines whether the gap is worth it.
- Judge the brightness gain against your room. RTINGS describes the C6’s brightness improvement as small and content-dependent, so a bright room with mostly SDR content will see less difference than one that relies on HDR highlights.
- Check your external audio and sources. If you need HDR10+ or DTS passthrough, the C6 is ruled out regardless of price.
Before you buy
- Confirm that the listing shows the exact model number you want: OLED42C6PUA, OLED48C6PUA, OLED55C6PUA or OLED65C6PUA.
- Verify the wall-mount or stand requirements for your exact model. A compatible mount was not confirmed for each size in this article, so check the manufacturer’s specifications before buying a mount.
- Read the retailer’s return window, since a size mismatch or a brightness shortfall is easier to fix early.
- Check the current price and C5 availability on the day of purchase rather than relying on launch figures.
The Bottom Line
The C6 is a worthwhile 4K OLED for buyers who want the newer LG platform and the 165Hz gaming feature set, and who are not depending on HDR10+ or DTS. It is a modest improvement over the C5 by RTINGS’ measure and a clearer step up by TechRadar’s. At launch prices, the case is harder to make, and the 65-inch has the most direct review evidence. Choose the size first, then buy the C6 only if its current price beats discounted C5 stock for that same size.
