LG’s Oct. 14, 2026 software update gives the Sound Suite H7 soundbar DTS:X decoding and Google Cast streaming. The update also enables two W7 wireless subwoofers in compatible systems, adds support for Wi‑Fi 6 GHz networks and 5 GHz DFS channels, and expands the modular system’s placement options. Availability depends on the Sound Suite model, country, router and installed software version.
What LG announced
The H7 is the Sound Suite component receiving both headline features. DTS:X support is intended for compatible movie, television and game content played from a source device that can output the format. Google Cast lets users send music, podcasts and other entertainment directly to the H7 from compatible apps and devices, rather than routing playback through a television.

LG says these capabilities arrive through software updates. The company has not said that every Sound Suite product receives every feature: model, regional firmware, router compatibility and network configuration can affect availability.

Wireless-network changes
The same update broadens Sound Suite networking to compatible 6 GHz Wi‑Fi networks and stereo configurations using 5 GHz DFS channels. DFS channels are subject to radar-detection rules, so a router may move channels or temporarily make them unavailable. A compatible router and current Sound Suite firmware are required; support should not be assumed merely because a router advertises Wi‑Fi 6E or Wi‑Fi 7.

What DTS:X support means on H7
DTS:X is an object-based surround format. On H7, the feature matters only when the source device and the program provide a DTS:X soundtrack; it does not convert every stereo or surround track into native DTS:X. Users should check the player’s audio-output setting and the content’s soundtrack label, then allow the H7 to receive the bitstream over a supported connection.
LG positions DTS:X alongside Dolby Atmos FlexConnect, the calibration system used to coordinate compatible wireless speakers around the room. The two technologies address different audio formats and should not be treated as interchangeable.
Google Cast streaming on H7
With Google Cast enabled, a phone, tablet or computer on the same network can select the H7 as a playback target in a Cast-enabled app. Music and podcasts can continue streaming to the soundbar while the controlling device handles browsing and volume commands. The exact app list and regional service support are controlled by Google and may vary by country.

Google Cast requires the H7 and controller to reach the same compatible network. If the H7 does not appear, verify that both devices are on the same SSID, disable client isolation or guest-network separation, install pending firmware, and restart the router and soundbar.

Adding two W7 subwoofers
Compatible Sound Suite layouts can now use two W7 wireless subwoofers. LG says the second subwoofer can improve bass consistency between seats by distributing low-frequency output around the room. It is not a guarantee of louder bass, and the benefit depends on room dimensions, placement, listening position and calibration.
One W7 or two?
| Configuration | Best fit | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| One W7 | Small or medium rooms, one main seating position, lower cost | Low-frequency response can vary more between seats |
| Two W7 units | Larger rooms or multiple seats where smoother bass matters | Requires a second subwoofer, suitable placement and a compatible H7 layout |
Pairing limits and setup instructions are firmware-dependent. Confirm that the H7, W7 units and intended speaker arrangement are listed as compatible before buying a second subwoofer.
How Sound Suite can be configured
Sound Suite is modular: H7 is the soundbar, M7 and M5 are wireless surround-speaker options, and W7 is the wireless subwoofer. LG’s 2025 launch material described 27 possible configurations. Its 2026 U.S. announcement described expansion to a maximum 13.1.7-channel system, provided the required components and a supported layout are used.
M5 and M7 surround speakers
M5 is a mono speaker. LG therefore says at least two M5 units are required for a Dolby Atmos FlexConnect setup. M7 can be used as a wireless surround-speaker component in supported arrangements. Placement, channel assignment and the number of speakers determine which layouts the system can create; adding a component does not automatically produce the 13.1.7 maximum.

TV connection requirements
LG says H7 can enable Dolby Atmos FlexConnect with any television through HDMI. Direct wireless speaker-to-TV connections, however, require a supported LG TV. Check the television model and firmware before choosing a TV-dependent configuration. HDMI eARC or ARC behavior, source-device output settings and the TV’s passthrough support can affect whether a DTS:X or Dolby signal reaches H7 unchanged.

LG Electronics USA listed these prices on Jan. 6, 2026. They are dated U.S. list prices, not a worldwide price list, and can change.
| Component | Listed U.S. price | Role |
|---|---|---|
| H7 | $999.99 | Soundbar and the component receiving DTS:X and Google Cast |
| M7 | $399.99 | Wireless surround speaker |
| M5 | $249.99 | Mono wireless surround speaker |
| W7 | $599.99 | Wireless subwoofer |
At those listed prices, an H7 plus two M5 speakers totals $1,499.97 before tax, while an H7 plus two W7 subwoofers totals $2,199.97. Those calculations exclude stands, delivery, discounts and any additional speakers; they are not current quotes or guarantees of availability.
Which setup makes sense?
Choose H7 alone when
- You want the newly announced DTS:X and Google Cast features without buying a full surround system.
- Your room is small or medium and one listening position is the priority.
- You already have a compatible TV and can place the soundbar correctly beneath or near it.
Add M5 or M7 speakers when
- You want stronger surround envelopment than a soundbar alone can provide.
- Your room allows rear or side speaker placement and your TV and firmware support the intended FlexConnect layout.
- You are prepared to verify channel compatibility rather than assuming every mix of M5 and M7 is supported.
Add a second W7 when
- Several seats need more even bass, especially in a large or irregularly shaped room.
- You can place both subwoofers in locations that the calibration process can measure effectively.
- The H7 software identifies the two-W7 arrangement as compatible in your region.
What to check before updating or buying
- Record the exact model numbers of the H7, M5, M7 and W7 components.
- Install the latest firmware offered for your country and confirm that the release notes list the feature you need.
- Check the TV’s HDMI ARC/eARC and audio-passthrough capabilities, plus the source device’s DTS:X output settings.
- Confirm that the router’s 6 GHz or 5 GHz DFS configuration is supported; use a non-DFS 5 GHz or 2.4 GHz network as a fallback during setup.
- For Google Cast, place the controller and H7 on the same non-guest network and update the casting app.
- For a second W7 or additional speakers, verify the exact layout in LG’s compatibility information before purchase.
Availability caveats
LG’s announcement describes a software-enabled expansion, not a promise that every country, hardware revision or router receives the same functions simultaneously. Features can be withheld by regional firmware, certification requirements, hardware limits or network compatibility. If a menu item or pairing option is missing after updating, do not force an unsupported configuration; check the model-specific support page or contact LG support for that region.
