Choose the 34-inch LG 34GS95QE if you work with small text, want a sharper desktop image, or have limited desk space. Choose the 45-inch LG 45GS95QE if immersive gaming and a much larger field of view matter more than pixel density. Both 2024-generation displays use a 21:9 OLED panel, 3440 × 1440 resolution, 800R curvature, a listed 240 Hz refresh rate and 0.03 ms GtG response. The 45-inch model spreads those same pixels over substantially more screen area, so it looks less crisp for text and fine desktop detail. If you want a 45-inch screen without that compromise, LG’s later 45GX950A is the model to investigate, subject to local availability and price.
What you are actually comparing
This is a comparison of LG’s 2024 UltraGear OLED families: the 45GS95QE and 34GS95QE. Regional suffixes matter. LG’s UK pages identify the products as the 45GS95QE-B and 34GS95QE-W, while LG’s US announcement uses the family names without a suffix. A retailer listing with a different ending can have different ports, speakers, firmware or included cables.

Do not treat the earlier 45GR95QE as the same monitor. RTINGS compared the 45GR95QE-B with the 34GS95QE-B, not the 45GS95QE-B. Its observations about shared resolution, relative sharpness and SDR brightness are useful context, but its scores are not a direct test of the exact 45GS95QE-B in this comparison. RTINGS also used different testing-methodology versions for the products.

The decisive difference: size versus pixel density
Both panels render the same number of pixels
At 3440 × 1440, each monitor has the same horizontal and vertical pixel count. On the 34-inch model, those pixels are packed into a smaller diagonal, so text, interface controls and fine lines appear denser. On the 45-inch model, the same image is physically larger but each pixel occupies more area. That is why the larger screen can look softer when you sit at the same distance and use the same scaling.
The difference is easiest to notice in a browser, code editor, spreadsheet or game with small HUD text. Large cinematic objects benefit from the 45-inch panel, while thin fonts and tightly spaced UI elements favor the 34-inch model. Windows or your operating system can increase scaling on either screen, but scaling changes the amount of usable workspace; it does not create additional pixels.
What the larger panel adds
The 45-inch display gives games and films a physically larger image that fills more of your peripheral vision. The 800R curve bends the panel toward you, helping the wide screen remain viewable without turning your head as far from the center. LG positions the model as an immersive gaming display; that is manufacturer positioning rather than an independent guarantee that every game will feel comfortable or support the full 21:9 image.
What the smaller panel preserves
The 34-inch model still provides the 21:9 format and the full 3440 × 1440 desktop canvas, but it occupies less width and is easier to keep within a conventional viewing distance. Its higher pixel density makes ordinary productivity work less tiring for many users, especially when text clarity matters more than the physical size of a game world.
How much desk space the 45-inch model needs
LG lists the 45GS95QE-B at 992.7 mm wide, 457 mm display height and 335.1 mm depth; its total height with the stand is 537.7 mm. Measure the usable desk surface rather than the nominal desk width, because monitor arms, speakers, a keyboard and wall clearance also need space. A desk that technically fits the panel can still leave you sitting too close to the curve.
- Width: allow room for the nearly one-metre panel and for the stand or arm to move without hitting a wall.
- Depth: place the screen far enough away that the outer edges do not dominate your vision. The ideal distance depends on eyesight and preference; the 800R curve is pronounced on both models.
- Height: set the top edge near eye level so you are not looking upward at the upper corners.
- Viewing position: sit near the center. Extreme off-axis seating makes the curved geometry less useful and can make the edges feel uneven.
No comparable dimension set for the 34GS95QE is established in the available specifications, so check the exact regional product page before ordering a stand, arm or desk shelf.
Gaming: choose the experience you value
Why 45 inches suits immersive games
Racing, flight, role-playing and cinematic action games can benefit from the 45-inch panel’s physical scale. A large 21:9 image can make cockpit instruments, landscapes and distant objects easier to appreciate without using a television-sized 16:9 screen. The curve keeps the side portions angled toward you rather than flat and distant.

Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →That advantage is experiential, not a frame-rate advantage. Both monitors have the same listed maximum refresh rate and native resolution, so a graphics card rendering 3440 × 1440 at high frame rates is driving the same number of pixels on either display. The 45-inch model does not show more game detail merely because it is larger.
Why 34 inches can be better for competitive play
The 34-inch screen puts the entire 21:9 image into a smaller physical area. You can see the edges with less eye movement, and its denser pixel layout makes small targets and interface text appear more defined at a comparable distance. Whether that translates into better results depends on the game, your eyesight and your seating position.
Check ultrawide support before buying
Both displays use 21:9, but games do not all handle ultrawide output equally. Some titles render a wider field of view; others add side bars, crop the vertical view or expose interface elements awkwardly. Check support for the specific games you play rather than assuming that a 21:9 panel guarantees a wider view. Competitive titles may also restrict aspect ratios or apply their own field-of-view rules.

240 Hz and 0.03 ms are not the whole story
LG lists 240 Hz and 0.03 ms GtG for both models. A 240 Hz mode can reduce sample-and-hold blur when your system can sustain high frame rates, but the published response number does not establish identical overshoot, input lag or pixel-transition behavior in every mode. Use independent measurements for the exact SKU if those details determine your purchase.

Work, text and everyday desktop use
The 34-inch advantage
For documents, email, spreadsheets, coding and browser tabs, the 34GS95QE’s smaller panel gives the shared 3440 × 1440 resolution higher pixel density. Characters and UI edges therefore look tighter at native scaling. You can keep multiple windows side by side without the screen becoming physically overwhelming, and the display is easier to position at a normal desk distance.
When 45 inches can still work for productivity
The 45GS95QE can be effective if you prefer large text, sit at an appropriate distance and value a broad, uninterrupted workspace. It is also useful when the monitor doubles as a viewing screen for games and films after work. Expect to adjust operating-system scaling and application zoom more often than on the 34-inch model, particularly if small text is a daily task.
OLED-specific working habits
OLED panels can show excellent contrast, but static desktop elements are a different use pattern from moving game scenes. Use the monitor’s pixel-refresh and screen-protection features as instructed, allow the display to run its maintenance cycle, and vary static content when practical. The supplied evidence does not establish a burn-in lifespan, failure rate or universal burn-in warranty, so read the warranty terms for your country and seller before treating either model as a risk-free long-term office monitor.
HDR, color and bright-room considerations
LG lists DisplayHDR True Black 400 and DCI-P3 coverage of 98.5% for both products. These shared labels indicate the same published category and gamut target; they do not prove that the panels reach the same measured full-screen brightness or produce the same HDR experience.

RTINGS’ comparison found the 34GS95QE-B test unit brighter in SDR than the 45GR95QE-B test unit. That observation involves the older GR 45-inch SKU rather than the 45GS95QE-B, and the products were tested under different methodology versions. Treat it as a qualified clue, not a definitive brightness ranking for the exact GS pair.
- Bright room: control window light and reflections first. OLED black levels cannot compensate for a room that washes out the image.
- HDR priority: seek measurements for the exact regional models and firmware, including sustained brightness and highlight behavior.
- Color work: verify the calibration mode, color-management support and your application requirements instead of relying on the DCI-P3 percentage alone.
Ports, suffixes and what to verify in the box
LG’s UK page lists two HDMI ports, DisplayPort and USB connectivity for the 45GS95QE-B. The 34-inch UK listing is the regional 34GS95QE-W variant. Before paying, open the specification page for the exact suffix sold in your country and confirm the ports you need, the cable types included and whether the stand supports your preferred adjustment.
The 45GS96QB is a separate variant. LG’s 2024 announcement identifies that model with speakers and USB-C; those features must not be transferred to the 45GS95QE-B. A retailer title that shortens or mixes model numbers is a reason to request a photograph of the rear label or a complete specification sheet.
- Confirm the exact model suffix, not just “45-inch UltraGear OLED.”
- Check whether USB-C carries video, power delivery or only data on the version you are buying.
- Verify HDMI and DisplayPort versions against your graphics card and console.
- Confirm speaker presence rather than assuming every 45-inch model includes audio hardware.
- Check the included stand, VESA information and cable list before disposing of packaging.
The 45GX950A: the sharper 45-inch alternative
LG Italy announced the 45GX950A on 15 April 2025 as a separate 45-inch 21:9 OLED with 5120 × 2160 resolution, 800R curvature and a stated 125 pixels per inch. That substantially changes the central trade-off: it keeps the large physical format while adding many more pixels for text and desktop detail.

LG’s announcement describes a dual mode: 165 Hz at 5K2K and 330 Hz at WFHD. Those are announced specifications, not the result of a direct comparison test. The announcement’s preorder information was specific to Italy at that time, so availability, pricing and final regional configuration must be checked locally. Consider the 45GX950A when all three of these statements are true:
- You want the physical immersion of a 45-inch screen.
- You regularly read small text or use detailed desktop applications.
- You can accept checking a newer model’s regional stock, price, inputs and warranty separately from the GS-series models.
If your main goal is a high-refresh gaming screen at 3440 × 1440 and you have limited desk depth, the 34GS95QE remains the simpler choice. If the large format is the priority and softness is acceptable, the 45GS95QE is the more affordable-style decision only after you confirm its local terms.

A practical buying and setup checklist
- Write down your dominant use. If more than half your time is small-text work, start with the 34-inch model; if the monitor is primarily for immersive games, start with the 45-inch model.
- Measure the desk. For the 45GS95QE-B, reserve at least the listed 992.7 mm width and 335.1 mm depth, then add clearance for the stand, cables and seating position.
- Check your graphics output. Confirm that your GPU, cable and operating system can drive 3440 × 1440 at the refresh rate you expect. A display’s 240 Hz specification does not make a slower graphics system render at 240 frames per second.
- Confirm the SKU. Match the retailer’s suffix to the manufacturer page. Do not substitute the 45GR95QE, 45GS96QB or a differently suffixed regional model without checking every feature.
- Check game compatibility. Look up ultrawide behavior for your regular games, including field-of-view controls, interface placement and competitive restrictions.
- Plan text scaling. Test native scaling first, then adjust operating-system and application zoom until the 45-inch model’s larger pixels remain comfortable or the 34-inch model’s denser text is readable.
- Inspect the return and warranty terms. Confirm dead-pixel policy, OLED burn-in coverage, return window, shipping damage procedure and service region before opening the panel.
- Set up protection features. Enable the monitor’s OLED maintenance and pixel-protection functions, and avoid leaving a static desktop image on screen for unnecessarily long periods.
Common mistakes to avoid
Assuming “45-inch” means higher resolution
The 45GS95QE and 34GS95QE both use 3440 × 1440. The larger diagonal changes scale and immersion, not the amount of rendered detail. The 45GX950A is the separate model that changes the resolution to 5120 × 2160.

“UltraGear OLED 45-inch” is not a complete product identity. Confirm the full model number and suffix, because LG’s own lineup includes closely named variants with different connectivity and speakers.
Using a test of the wrong generation as a verdict
The frequently cited RTINGS comparison is between 45GR95QE-B and 34GS95QE-B. It can inform the discussion of shared resolution and relative pixel density, but it should not be presented as a direct scorecard for 45GS95QE-B versus 34GS95QE.
Expecting universal 21:9 support
Some games handle 21:9 correctly, while others add bars, crop the image or constrain the field of view. Check the titles you actually play before making ultrawide support a deciding assumption.
Ignoring the room
The 800R curve is strong on both models. A large, close screen can feel excellent for one person and uncomfortable for another. Desk depth, seating distance, lighting and the ability to sit centrally matter as much as the diagonal measurement.

Buy the LG 34GS95QE when your monitor is also a work surface: its shared 3440 × 1440 resolution is sharper on the smaller panel, and the physical footprint is easier to manage. Buy the LG 45GS95QE when the monitor’s main job is to make games and films feel larger and more enveloping, and your desk can place the 800R display at a comfortable distance.
For readers who want both a 45-inch image and sharper text, investigate the LG 45GX950A instead. Its 5120 × 2160 resolution and announced 125 PPI address the key weakness of putting 3440 × 1440 across 45 inches, but its regional availability, price, warranty and final configuration need separate confirmation.
Whichever route you take, verify the exact suffix, local stock, return policy, warranty and OLED burn-in coverage with the manufacturer and seller. Those terms vary by region and time, and they are not established uniformly for every market.
