Its 15.3-inch 2.8K panel, two Thunderbolt 4 ports, HDMI and USB-A make it unusually practical for a thin laptop. The main cautions are configuration differences, soldered memory and the absence of a reliable independent battery-runtime figure in the available review evidence.
What the Yoga Slim 7i Aura Edition is
Lenovo identifies this 15-inch Gen 9 model in its PSREF material as the Yoga Slim 7 15ILL9. It is an Intel Evo Edition Copilot+ PC built around Intel Core Ultra Series 2 processors. Lenovo’s 2024 launch announcement says the neural-processing unit (NPU) delivers more than 45 TOPS, but Copilot+ features and their availability can depend on Windows updates, software support and market.

The family is sold in multiple configurations. Lenovo lists up to 32 GB of LPDDR5X memory and up to a 1 TB PCIe Gen 4 M.2 SSD; those are maximum configuration options, not specifications shared by every retail unit. The memory is soldered, with zero memory slots listed in Lenovo’s specifications, so choose RAM capacity carefully.

#1 Best Overall
- Durable design: Laptop backpack features a durable, water-repellent snow yarn polyester fabric and streamlined design with a padded interior to protect your laptop, notebook and other important stuff
- Comfortable fit: This compact backpack has a quilted back panel and fully adjustable shoulder straps making it comfortable for all day use, plus a quick access front zippered pocket for extra storage

- Convenient storage: In addition to the laptop compartment, there are separate pockets for mobile devices, business cards, and other daily tools in quick-access compartments. The main compartment offers extra space for magazines, notepad and other laptop accessories
Display: the primary reason to buy it
The 15.3-inch, 16:10 touchscreen runs at 2880 × 1800. Lenovo’s support specification lists 60 Hz and 120 Hz modes, while the launch datasheet describes a 120 Hz LCD with 500-nit brightness, Delta E below 1, 100% sRGB and 100% DCI-P3 coverage. Check the retail listing for the specific panel and refresh-rate implementation rather than assuming every regional configuration is identical.
This combination gives you more vertical workspace than a conventional 16:9 screen and enough resolution for crisp text, photographs and video editing interfaces. A 120 Hz mode can make scrolling and cursor movement feel smoother, while 60 Hz may reduce power use. The glossy glass touch surface is useful for direct interaction but can reflect windows and overhead lighting.
Performance: excellent graphics and AI results, mixed CPU evidence
WIRED reviewed a Core Ultra 7 256V system with 16 GB of RAM and a 1 TB SSD. In that test context, the laptop produced very strong AI benchmark results among systems without discrete graphics and high integrated-graphics scores. WIRED reported roughly 50% higher graphics and gaming frame rates than Snapdragon X Elite systems and about 20% higher performance than first-generation Core Ultra laptops on the tests it described.

General CPU results were less impressive. Geekbench 6 was reported as 40% below a typical Snapdragon X-powered laptop and 20% below WIRED’s average Core Ultra 1 result, while PCMark 10 was not markedly different from first-generation Core Ultra results. These are reviewer results from one configuration, not a universal ranking of the Core Ultra 7 256V. Power mode, firmware, cooling, memory capacity and the selected comparison systems can materially change outcomes; WIRED also cautioned against broad CPU conclusions from a single laptop.
For everyday office work, browser-heavy multitasking, video calls, photo work and casual gaming at sensible settings, the integrated graphics and efficient platform should be capable. Buyers whose workloads are dominated by sustained compiling, rendering or other heavily threaded CPU tasks should compare current systems using the same benchmark and power settings rather than relying on the Aura name.
Battery: 70 Wh is capacity, not a runtime promise
Lenovo specifies a 70 Wh battery. That figure describes how much energy the battery stores; it does not establish a number of hours. The available WIRED review passage does not provide an independent runtime result, and battery life will vary with brightness, 60/120 Hz selection, workload, wireless activity, power mode and configuration. Treat any retailer’s runtime estimate as a claim to verify under comparable test conditions, not as a guaranteed result.

Ports and wireless connectivity
The port layout is one of this laptop’s practical advantages:
| Location | Connections |
|---|---|
| Left side | Thunderbolt 4 USB-C and HDMI 2.1 |
| Right side | Thunderbolt 4 USB-C and USB-A |
| Audio | 3.5 mm headphone/microphone combo jack |
Lenovo also lists Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4. HDMI and USB-A mean many users can connect a monitor, drive or older accessory without an adapter. A Thunderbolt 4 dock is optional for a desk with multiple displays, wired networking and several peripherals; check the dock’s power-delivery and display requirements before buying.
Design, size and camera
Lenovo describes an aluminum chassis and MIL-STD 810H durability positioning. Those are manufacturer claims; WIRED’s comments about the 15.3-inch format and the laptop’s heft are subjective review impressions rather than standardized comparative measurements.

Lenovo’s announcement gives dimensions of 343.8 × 235.4 mm and a thickness as low as 13.9 mm. Official support documentation lists 13.9 mm at the thinnest point and 15.2 mm at the thickest. Starting weight is listed as 1.46 kg in the announcement, while the datasheet gives a 1.53 kg target starting weight. Configuration and market explain the discrepancy, so verify the exact listing. A 15-inch sleeve may not fit: check its internal dimensions against the chassis.
The launch table lists an FHD infrared camera with a privacy shutter, suitable for Windows Hello where supported and for video meetings. Lenovo’s product materials also position the machine as an Intel Evo design, but certification does not replace checking the exact regional configuration.

Lenovo announced European availability from September 2024 at a starting price of €1,399. That was launch-period guidance, not a current 2026 price or stock statement. Who should buy it?
Good fit
- You want a large but still portable 16:10 touchscreen for documents, coding, media and creative applications.
- You value HDMI, USB-A and two Thunderbolt 4 ports in a thin chassis.
- You want Intel’s current integrated-graphics and NPU capabilities without a discrete GPU.
- You can select enough soldered memory at purchase time.
Look elsewhere if
- Your priority is the fastest sustained CPU performance for professional rendering or compilation.
- You need a guaranteed all-day runtime based on independently comparable testing.
- You require upgradeable RAM or a discrete GPU for demanding 3D workloads.
- Your budget depends on a current price that has not been checked in your market.
How to check a listing before ordering
- Confirm the exact model or machine type, not merely “Aura Edition.”
- Verify Core Ultra processor, 16 GB versus 32 GB memory and SSD capacity.
- Check that the listing states the desired 60 Hz or 120 Hz display mode and touch support.
- Compare the seller’s weight, warranty and return terms with Lenovo’s regional documentation.
- Measure your sleeve or bag’s internal compartment for a 343.8 × 235.4 mm-class chassis.
- For dock use, confirm Thunderbolt display support, charging wattage and the number of external screens required.
Verdict
The Yoga Slim 7i Gen 9 Aura Edition is most compelling as a well-connected, high-resolution 15.3-inch Windows laptop rather than as an unquestioned CPU-performance leader. The 2.8K touch display, practical port mix, Wi-Fi 7 and strong integrated-graphics results give it a clear premium-laptop identity. Buy the exact configuration that provides sufficient soldered RAM, and treat battery capacity, launch pricing and benchmark percentages with their proper qualifications.
