In HotHardware’s 2024 test of the 16IMH9 with an Intel Core Ultra 9 185H, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 Laptop GPU and 3.2K Mini-LED touchscreen, graphics performance and the display stood out; battery endurance was a significant trade-off. The results apply to that configuration and review setup, not every Yoga Pro 9i listing.
Which Yoga Pro 9i configuration did HotHardware test?
HotHardware’s Page 2 performance review, published August 16, 2024, covers an upper-end 16-inch Yoga Pro 9i Gen 9 (16IMH9) with a Core Ultra 9 185H, RTX 4060 Laptop GPU, and 3.2K Mini-LED touchscreen. The page describes a 1 TB SK Hynix PCIe 4 NVMe SSD in the test system. The author says testing began with a fresh-from-box system after Windows updates, with drivers, firmware, and BIOS updated through Windows Update and Lenovo’s app.

That is not the only configuration. The review described a U.S. base model at the time as a Core Ultra 7 155H system with 16 GB soldered LPDDR5X, 512 GB SSD, RTX 4050 Laptop GPU, and 3.2K 165 Hz IPS panel rated at 400 nits. Lenovo’s official 16IMH9 user guide lists display and hardware options that vary by configuration. Check the precise SKU before applying the review’s results or specifications to a listing.

The results are mixed rather than universally dominant. In Geekbench 5, HotHardware says the Yoga Pro 9i ranked first in multi-core and second in single-core among the systems in its comparison. The review also describes its multi-threaded Cinebench R23 and Cinebench 2024 results as respectable for media and graphics rendering.
#1 Best Overall

- Powered by the Intel Core Ultra 9 386H processor and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 50 Series Laptop GPUs, it’s a portable production house. The Force Pad and Yoga Pen Gen 2 act as the perfect assist for drawing while the 16” PureSight Pro OLED touchscreen display brings clarity.
- Plenty of Ports: 1x USB-A (USB 10Gbps), Always On; 1x USB-A (USB 10Gbps); 2x Thunderbolt 4, with USB PD 65-100W and DisplayPort 2.1; 1x HDMI 2.1, up to 8K/60Hz; 1x Headphone / microphone combo jack (3.5mm); 1x SD card reader (UHS-II); 1x Slim tip power connector.
- NVIDIA GeForce RTX 50 Series Laptop GPUs deliver game-changing AI performance for gamers and creators alike. Boost frame rates with NVIDIA DLSS 4, harness RTX-enhanced generative AI to create visuals at incredible speed, and accelerate demanding creative and AI workflows.
- The stunning 16" 2.8K OLED touchscreen display is a true standout, delivering professional-grade clarity and color accuracy with HDR 1000 True Black and 100% DCI-P3 color gamut. Featuring 500 nits of brightness and a smooth 120Hz refresh rate, it offers an incredibly responsive, vibrant, and immersive workspace for all your creative projects.
Other measures were less impressive: the laptop trailed a Core Ultra 7 MSI Prestige 16 in some single-thread and browser tests, and lower productivity and essentials scores pulled down its PCMark 10 overall result. HotHardware also ran Speedometer 2.0. These rankings describe the publisher’s tested systems and methods, not a universal leaderboard or a guarantee of performance in every workload.
How well does the RTX 4060 handle graphics and games?
Graphics are a strength of the tested configuration. HotHardware describes its 3DMark Fire Strike Extreme result as strong for an RTX 4060 system and reports good performance in its 1080p game tests. The review tested Middle-earth: Shadow of War at 1920 × 1080 on High settings, and Gears Tactics at 1080p using low, medium, and high presets.

The review’s charts are image-based, and its extracted text does not provide numerical scores. It is therefore possible to report the author’s qualitative assessment and the test settings, but not to give reliable frame rates or benchmark totals from this page. Also, 1080p gaming does not demonstrate what to expect at the panel’s native 3200 × 2000 resolution, where games place a greater load on the GPU. The Yoga Pro 9i is a creator-oriented laptop with capable gaming graphics, not a dedicated gaming model.
Is the Mini-LED display worth prioritizing?
For the tested unit, the 3.2K Mini-LED touchscreen was a major strength. HotHardware praised its color and brightness and described the panel as 165 Hz with up to 1,200 nits brightness; the reviewer also noted that reflections could be handled better. Lenovo’s PSREF specifications list a 16-inch Gen 9 Mini-LED option with a 165 Hz refresh rate and 1,200 nits peak brightness.

Those figures are not universal to every Yoga Pro 9i. Lenovo’s guide lists 3200 × 2000 and 2560 × 1600 display resolutions, with refresh-rate combinations reaching 165 Hz depending on configuration. The review’s base-model description, for example, names an IPS screen rather than Mini-LED. Confirm panel type, resolution, refresh rate, and brightness in the exact listing if the display is your main reason to buy.

Battery and power
HotHardware regarded battery endurance as a significant weakness in the high-output Mini-LED configuration and advised treating it as a laptop used near an outlet. The reviewer also observed that demanding use could draw from the battery even while the machine was plugged in. These are observations about the review unit and workload, not controlled battery-life figures for every SKU.

Lenovo lists an 84 Wh battery in its 16IMH9 guide. Adapter options vary: integrated-graphics configurations use a USB-C adapter rated up to 100 W, while discrete-GPU systems use Lenovo’s rectangular connector rated up to 170 W. Check the machine’s configuration before buying a replacement adapter.

Memory is onboard LPDDR5X, and Lenovo lists zero DIMM slots, so the RAM is not a user-upgradeable component. Storage is more flexible: the guide lists two M.2 2280 PCIe Gen 4 SSD slots. A second or replacement SSD may be an option, but verify compatibility for the specific SKU and drive before purchasing.

What should you check before buying?
- Processor and graphics: Confirm whether the listing has the Core Ultra 7 155H or Core Ultra 9 185H and which GPU it includes. The benchmark results here concern the tested Core Ultra 9 and RTX 4060 combination.
- Panel: Verify IPS versus Mini-LED, resolution, refresh rate, and brightness; these differ across configurations.
- Memory and storage: Treat the listed RAM as fixed. Check the supplied SSD capacity and confirm any intended second-drive upgrade against the SKU.
- Power and portability: Consider whether the display and GPU configuration’s weaker unplugged endurance fits your routine, and confirm the correct adapter type.
- Ports and displays: Lenovo’s guide lists two USB-A ports, USB-C/USB4 and Thunderbolt 4 capabilities, HDMI, an SD card slot, and a 3.5 mm audio jack. Check the exact guide if a particular port, dock, or external-display setup is essential.
