Notebookcheck reported on October 8, 2026 that Lenovo’s US store was selling the Tab Plus Gen 2 for 35% off, bringing the 8 GB RAM / 128 GB storage configuration to just under $257 when the coupon EXTRASAVEAFF is applied. The headline’s $143 saving is the gap between that price and a reference price of about $400. Notebookcheck’s 35% figure implies a reference price in the mid-$390s, so the exact dollar saving depends on which original price you use. Check the live Lenovo US page before you buy, because the offer may have ended or changed since it was reported.
The tablet itself is an entertainment device. Its defining feature is a nine-speaker array, and the rest of its specifications are built around watching video and listening to audio on a large screen. It is also large and heavy, which matters more than the discount when you decide whether it suits you.

What the reported discount covers
The deal article attributes the offer to Lenovo’s US store and gives three conditions that matter:
Recommended Free Tools
- Configuration: 8 GB RAM and 128 GB storage. The price does not apply to other memory or storage options.
- Coupon: EXTRASAVEAFF, entered at checkout.
- Date: reported October 8, 2026. Notebookcheck states that deal prices and availability may change.
Lenovo’s list price is not part of the reported figures beyond the 35% reduction and the just-under-$257 result, so do not treat the $143 headline number as a fixed price comparison unless the Lenovo page shows the original price on the day you buy.

How to confirm the deal is still live
- Open Lenovo’s US store and find the Tab Plus Gen 2 product page. Make sure you are on the US storefront, not a regional site.
- Select the 8 GB / 128 GB configuration before adding the tablet to your cart. Changing memory or storage can change the price.
- Enter EXTRASAVEAFF at checkout. Confirm the order total is just under $257 before you pay.
- If the coupon is rejected or the total is higher, the offer has ended or changed. The reported price cannot be assumed to still apply.
- If you buy from Amazon instead, confirm the storage size in the listing. The review’s Amazon listing is a 256 GB model, which is a different configuration from the reported deal.

How good is the sound?
The speaker layout is the device’s headline feature. Notebookcheck’s deal report counts nine speakers in total:
- Four tweeters for higher frequencies.
- Three subwoofers for low-frequency output.
- Two passive radiators, which add bass output without their own amplifier.
The published specifications describe this layout but do not include a loudness, frequency-response or distortion measurement, so this article does not rate the sound quality. A nine-speaker count tells you about the design, not how it sounds in a room. If audio is your main reason for buying, listen to the tablet or check a detailed audio test before you decide.

Battery life: one test, not a guarantee
The nearly 29-hour figure is Notebookcheck’s own result from a Wi-Fi web-browsing test. The published summary does not give the full test conditions, such as screen brightness or the exact site list, so treat the number as an indication for that test only. Real use with video, higher brightness or cellular connectivity will differ.

Trade-offs: size, weight and support
Size and weight
At 775 g and 22.7 mm thick, the tablet is a poor fit for one-handed reading or carrying in a bag for long periods. The integrated stand and large screen suit a desk, a bed rest or a shared media setup, but a lighter tablet will be easier to use on the move.
Software and update window
Notebookcheck’s review says Android 16 comes preinstalled, that two major Android upgrades are planned, and that security updates are expected through 2030. These are expectations stated in the review, not a binding commitment from Lenovo in the sources examined. Do not assume support beyond what the review describes.

- 12.1" 2.5K (2560 x 1600), IGZO, Multi-Touch, AF Coating, 800 nits, 120Hz
- 128 GB UFS 3.1
- 8 GB LPDDR5 (Soldered)
- Android 16 or Later
Expandable storage and accessories
The review says storage can be expanded with microSD. It also says the Lenovo Tab Pen Plus is sold separately. Confirm that a specific memory card or pen works with your model before you buy either accessory, because compatibility with third-party cards and cases was not established in the review.

Is it worth buying?
The discount makes the tablet a more reasonable purchase if all of the following apply:
Best Value
- Quality tempered glass screen protector exclusively designed for 12.1" Lenovo Idea Tab Plus Gen2(2026)/Gen1(2025) / Lenovo Tab K12 (TB361FU/TB361ZU) 2025. Not compatible with any other devices
- 9H hardness surface with Super HD transparency
- True touch sensitivity; Ultra thin (0.33mm thickness); Rounded edge integration
- Bubble-free installation, only take seconds; Advanced silicon adhesive, no residue when removing
- Scratch resistant; Shock-resistant; Anti-oil
- You mainly watch video, play audio or browse on a large screen, and speaker output matters more to you than portability.
- You are happy with 8 GB RAM and 128 GB storage, or you plan to add microSD storage.
- The Lenovo US page still shows just under $257 with EXTRASAVEAFF on the 8 GB / 128 GB configuration.
- You accept the weight and thickness and the update window described in Notebookcheck’s review.
Skip it if you need a light, thin tablet for carrying, or if you need a longer software support commitment than the review describes. The headline’s “budget” label is the publication’s framing. The sources examined do not include a comparable set of rival prices, so the article does not rank the tablet on value against other models.
Publish-check note for readers: the deal was reported on October 8, 2026, and the review on September 18, 2026. Prices and stock can change without notice.
