Lenovo’s figures come from its Tab P12 product specification and PSREF material accessed on October 13, 2026; Lenovo notes that specifications can vary by configuration and may change. Samsung’s display, battery, brightness and storage figures come from its India Wi-Fi product information accessed on the same date, so another country or carrier may offer different memory, storage, color or connectivity combinations.

Pick the Lenovo Tab P12 for a larger digital notebook
The Tab P12’s 12.7-inch panel gives a wider page for handwritten notes, split-screen reading and a document or slide deck displayed beside a note-taking app. Its 2944 × 1840 resolution also provides more pixels than the Galaxy Tab S9 FE’s 2304 × 1440 panel. That combination is useful when you annotate full-size PDFs, keep a textbook open while writing, or place several columns of a spreadsheet on screen.

Lenovo lists the Tab Pen Plus as part of the package, so a compatible stylus is included rather than being an additional purchase on the referenced configuration. Confirm that the retailer’s box contains the pen, because Lenovo sells configuration-specific packages.
Pick the Galaxy Tab S9 FE for a lighter, smoother-feeling study tool
The Galaxy Tab S9 FE is smaller at 10.9 inches-class, which can make it easier to hold in one hand or fit on a crowded desk. Samsung lists an adaptive refresh rate of up to 90Hz. A higher refresh ceiling can make scrolling through web pages and moving supported interface elements appear smoother than a 60Hz panel, although the specification alone does not measure pen latency or overall performance.
Samsung includes the S Pen in the box and describes magnetic attachment to the tablet. That makes the pen easier to keep with the device, but check the precise regional package and replacement-accessory availability before ordering.
Display: workspace versus refresh rate
Lenovo’s 12.7-inch, 2944 × 1840 panel
The P12 offers the larger canvas and higher stated resolution. More physical area helps when a PDF page, lecture notes and reference material must remain visible at once. It can also reduce the need to zoom while editing diagrams or marking up two-column documents.
Lenovo lists a 60Hz refresh rate. That is sufficient for ordinary reading, writing and video, but it does not provide the higher refresh ceiling Samsung advertises. The specification does not indicate how consistently a particular app renders at 60 frames per second, so do not treat the number as a complete smoothness or responsiveness test.

Samsung’s 10.9-inch-class, 2304 × 1440 panel
Samsung lists a 27.70cm diagonal, equivalent to a 10.9-inch class display, at 2304 × 1440. It is more compact and has fewer pixels than the Lenovo screen, but remains suitable for handwritten notes, ebooks, online classes and ordinary office documents.
The adaptive rate can reach 90Hz. Adaptive operation means the tablet can vary refresh behavior rather than running at the maximum constantly; the actual rate depends on software, settings and workload. Samsung also lists maximum brightness of 600 nits for the referenced product information. Maximum brightness is a peak specification, not a promise that every screen area or application will sustain that level.
How to decide on the screen
- Choose Lenovo when page area, PDF annotation and split-screen study are more important than scrolling smoothness.
- Choose Samsung when portability and a higher listed refresh ceiling matter more than maximum workspace.
- Measure your usual bag, desk and reading distance. A larger panel is useful only if you can comfortably carry and position it.
Pen input and handwriting
Both products include a manufacturer pen in the referenced offers: Lenovo lists Tab Pen Plus, while Samsung says the inbox S Pen is included. This removes the most obvious extra purchase for handwriting, diagrams and marking PDFs.
What the specifications establish
- Each tablet is sold with a stated pen on the cited configuration.
- Samsung specifies magnetic attachment for the S Pen.
- Neither cited specification set provides a comparative pen-latency measurement, digitizer test or handwriting-quality benchmark.
For study, app support and workflow matter as much as the stylus name. Before buying, open the note-taking, PDF and classroom apps you actually use and verify Android compatibility, export formats and cloud-sync behavior. If you annotate long documents, the P12’s larger screen may reduce page zooming. If you carry the tablet between classes, the S9 FE’s smaller footprint may be more convenient.
Durability and water resistance
Samsung says the Galaxy Tab S9 FE and inbox S Pen are rated IP68. Samsung defines the laboratory condition as submersion in up to 1.5 meters of fresh water for up to 30 minutes. It also warns that resistance can diminish with wear and advises against beach or pool use.

This is a manufacturer statement, not an independent durability test. IP ratings do not make a tablet waterproof in every situation: salt water, chlorinated water, pressure, drops, damaged seals and aging can change the outcome. Keep the charging port dry and follow Samsung’s care guidance after any exposure.
The Lenovo materials reviewed for the Tab P12 do not establish an equivalent IP rating. Do not infer water or dust resistance from the absence of a warning or from general build quality. If you need a tablet for wet environments, the Samsung’s documented rating is the meaningful specification difference, but it is still not permission to use the tablet at the beach or pool.
Storage and microSD expansion
Both manufacturer sources describe microSD expansion up to 1TB. Samsung explicitly says the card is sold separately. A card can hold downloaded lectures, ebooks, videos and photos, but it does not increase the tablet’s working memory and may not match internal storage for every app.
Check the exact internal-storage configuration before comparing prices. Samsung’s cited source is an India Wi-Fi 128GB page, while Lenovo’s PSREF covers multiple configurations. A retailer may use the same product family name for different RAM, storage, cellular and regional versions.
Before you buy a microSD card
- Confirm that the tablet model has a card slot; do not rely only on a product-family name.
- Check the card’s capacity and speed class against the manufacturer’s guidance.
- Plan where your note-taking app stores files. Some apps keep active databases in internal storage even when media is moved to a card.
- Back up important coursework separately. Removable storage is not a substitute for a second copy.
Battery: capacity is not the same as runtime
Lenovo lists a 10,200mAh typical battery for the Tab P12. Samsung lists an 8,000mAh typical battery for the Galaxy Tab S9 FE. Those numbers describe stored charge under the manufacturers’ stated measurement conventions; they do not prove that Lenovo will last longer in real use. Screen size, brightness, radio activity, processor load, software, temperature and battery health all affect runtime.

Lenovo’s datasheet advertises up to 10 hours of video playback or web browsing for a specified rest-of-world configuration. This is a manufacturer claim, published around the P12’s 2023 launch, rather than an independent measurement. The result may not apply to every region or configuration.
Samsung notes that battery life depends on usage. No comparable standardized runtime result is established for the two tablets here, so choose based on charging access and workload rather than capacity alone. A student who streams lectures at high brightness over Wi-Fi may see a different result from someone reading downloaded PDFs with radios disabled.

Lenovo keyboard configurations
Lenovo’s PSREF records keyboard-pack availability on some Tab P12 configurations. The keyboard can make long emails, essays and spreadsheet entry more practical, but the pack is not necessarily included with every retail SKU. Verify the exact bundle, keyboard layout and connector compatibility.
Samsung keyboard and DeX
Samsung lists a Book Cover Keyboard as a separately sold accessory and provides DeX mode on the Galaxy Tab S9 FE. DeX changes the interface toward a desktop-style layout for supported multitasking and window management. It does not turn the tablet into a laptop, and app behavior still depends on Android support.

Software support and long-term ownership
The Lenovo Tab P12 launched with Android 13. Lenovo’s launch-era datasheet expected Android 14 and Android 15 upgrades and four years of security updates until 2027. That was an expectation recorded near launch, not a current guarantee of remaining support in 2026. Confirm the latest update policy and the device’s current security-patch status before purchase.
The cited material does not establish a directly comparable, current software-support commitment for the Galaxy Tab S9 FE. Samsung’s update terms can depend on model, region and carrier. Check the support page for your exact model number rather than assuming that every S9 FE variant receives identical updates.
Regional models, bundles and prices
Model names do not guarantee identical hardware worldwide. Samsung’s source is specifically an India Wi-Fi product page, and Samsung notes regional variation. Cellular versions, RAM and storage, colors, included chargers, keyboard bundles and retailer promotions can differ. Lenovo likewise states that its PSREF specifications are configuration-specific and may change.

Use this purchase checklist
- Record the full model number, not just “Tab P12” or “Tab S9 FE.”
- Confirm screen size, Wi-Fi or cellular connectivity, RAM and internal storage.
- Check that the advertised box includes the Tab Pen Plus or S Pen, as applicable.
- Price the keyboard separately if you plan to type regularly.
- Confirm microSD support and the maximum capacity for that exact model.
- Read the seller’s return policy and warranty terms for your country.
- Check the latest operating-system and security-update information for the model number.
Which one should you buy?
Choose the Lenovo Tab P12 when
- You want the largest writing and reading area in this comparison.
- You frequently annotate full-size PDFs or use split-screen study layouts.
