The manual distinguishes customer-replaceable units (CRUs) from field-replaceable units (FRUs); a part appearing in a replacement procedure does not automatically mean Lenovo classifies it as a self-service upgrade.

Which upgrades does Lenovo document?
Memory
The HMM includes memory-module shielding and memory-module replacement procedures. For the 15IPH11 variant specifically, Lenovo’s PSREF dated September 10, 2026 lists two DDR5 SODIMM slots and up to 32 GB of DDR5-5600 memory based on Lenovo’s current offerings. Do not assume that capacity applies to another machine type without checking its own specification and parts information.

Storage
The HMM includes an M.2 SSD removal and installation procedure. For the 15IPH11, Lenovo’s September 10, 2026 PSREF describes support for up to two M.2 SSDs and identifies the second slot as available for user self-expansion. The same reference lists M.2 2242 SSD offerings up to 2 TB while also identifying two M.2 2280 PCIe 4.0 x4 slots. Because those dimensions are inconsistent within the reference, confirm the physical slot and compatible drive length for your exact machine before buying a drive.

Check the replacement part before buying
Use Lenovo Parts Lookup with your machine type or serial number. The HMM directs readers there for CRU/FRU information, part descriptions, part numbers, and substitutions. For an SSD, verify the exact physical slot, drive length, interface, and relevant Lenovo parts information rather than relying on the generic term M.2 alone.
Lenovo’s Parts Lookup is also the right place to verify a replacement component when the machine’s configuration is uncertain. Do not infer compatibility solely from a product-family name or from a video showing a different listed machine type.
