That assessment applies to one tested configuration: an Intel Core 7 350, 16GB of memory, 512GB SSD and 15.3-inch 120Hz touchscreen. The Slim 3i name covers multiple generations and sizes, so check the exact model and configuration before buying.
What this review covers
This review concerns the 15-inch-class IdeaPad Slim 3i Gen 11, model 15IPH11, tested by Tom’s Guide reviewer Arif Bacchus. It is not a verdict on every Slim 3i. Lenovo’s separate Gen 10 family, for example, includes 14-, 15- and 16-inch Intel models with different processors, screens and other options. The generation, screen size and exact listing matter.

Lenovo’s Gen 10 Intel datasheet describes a different generation, not the tested Gen 11 machine. It lists various Gen 10 processors, 8GB or 16GB DDR5 memory and storage options from 256GB to 1TB, as well as different screen options by size and configuration. Those options should not be assumed to describe this review unit.

How well does it handle everyday work?
For ordinary productivity—web browsing, documents, email and multitasking—the reviewer found the tested laptop responsive. In a workload with around 20 browser tabs split between Edge and Chrome, it remained responsive. That makes the result relevant to school and office routines, but not proof that every Slim 3i configuration will behave identically.
Tom’s Guide recorded 2,669 single-core and 7,827 multi-core in Geekbench 6, and a HandBrake video-encoding time of 9 minutes, 22 seconds. These are the publication’s results for its tested Gen 11 configuration; they are not guarantees for other Slim 3i variants. The reviewer does not position this model for demanding video editing or gaming. In Shadow of the Tomb Raider at 1080p, Tom’s Guide reported 30 frames per second, a result that supports treating gaming as a limitation rather than a reason to buy it.

What are the screen and battery like?
Large, bright, high-refresh touchscreen
The 15.3-inch 16:10, 1920 × 1200 touchscreen is a central strength of the reviewed model. Tom’s Guide measured 408 nits of brightness, 116% sRGB coverage and 82.2% DCI-P3 volume. These are results from that review’s testing, not specifications to generalize across the Slim 3i family. The 120Hz refresh rate makes touch and motion feel smoother than on a standard-refresh screen, while the larger workspace suits reading and side-by-side tasks.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteBattery result from a web-browsing test
Tom’s Guide’s web-browsing battery test ran for 10 hours, 33 minutes and 51 seconds on the reviewed configuration. Treat that as a lab result under that publisher’s test conditions, not a promised runtime: actual battery life changes with brightness, applications, wireless use and power settings. Lenovo also notes that battery life varies by configuration, software, wireless use, power management and brightness.

What are the compromises?
- Plastic chassis: the reviewer noted the build material as a drawback compared with a more premium-feeling laptop.
- No keyboard backlight: Bacchus found the keyboard pleasant to type on, but the lack of backlighting inconvenient in dim conditions.
- Round-tip charging: the tested laptop uses a round-tip power connector. That can be less convenient than USB-C charging when its USB-C port is occupied.
- Not a demanding-work or gaming choice: the review’s assessment and gaming result point to everyday productivity, rather than intensive creative workloads or gaming, as the better fit.
Is the IdeaPad Slim 3i worth its price?
Tom’s Guide reported a US list price of $1,299 and discounts around $799–$999 when its review was published on August 4, 2026. Those figures are dated review context, not a current price guarantee. Check the live listing and verify that it is the same Gen 11, 16GB/512GB configuration.
The reviewer’s value case is strongest near $799: Bacchus wrote, “For $799, the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3i 15 (2026) offers a bright 15-inch touchscreen and solid battery life for work or school.” At the reported $1,299 list price, he considered the trade-offs harder to justify. The price should therefore shape the decision: the tested model is more compelling at a substantial discount than at its reported list price.
Lenovo’s US Gen 10 product page is for a Gen 10 model, not the reviewed Gen 11. It illustrates why a search result or product name alone is not enough to confirm that a listing matches the machine reviewed here.

Quick Recap
Who should consider it?
- Students and office workers: a good match if the priority is a roomy, bright touchscreen and reliable everyday productivity, and the price is attractive.
- People who work in dim rooms: consider the lack of keyboard backlighting before choosing it.
- Frequent travelers who prefer USB-C charging: check whether the round-tip power connector and single USB-C port fit your setup.
- Gamers or demanding video editors: look at laptops designed for those workloads instead; this review does not present the Slim 3i as one.
- Anyone comparing Slim 3i listings: compare generation, CPU, memory, screen size and specification, storage, ports, charging and price—not just the family name.
