Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 Gen 11 vs Acer Aspire 3: Which Budget Laptop Is Better in 2026?

For most students and office workers, the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3i Gen 11 15 is the better buy when its street price is about $799–$999. Its 15.3-inch 1920×1200 touchscreen reaches 408 nits, runs at 120Hz and lasted 10 hours 33 minutes in Tom’s Guide’s web-browsing test. Choose the Acer Aspire 3 A325-53 instead when the exact Acer configuration is substantially cheaper, you need built-in Ethernet, or the lower 1.5 kg weight matters more than screen quality.

These are families of laptops rather than single fixed specifications. CPU, display, memory, ports, battery size and warranty can change by country and model number, so match the full SKU before comparing prices.

The two configurations being compared

The Lenovo data here comes from Tom’s Guide’s review of the IdeaPad Slim 3i 15 (2026), identified in the comparison as an Intel Core 7 350 model with 16GB of memory and a 512GB PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD. Lenovo’s official PSREF documentation lists other Gen 11 versions, including models with Intel Core Ultra processors and different screen types. “IdeaPad Slim 3 Gen 11” therefore does not describe one universal specification.

The Acer data refers specifically to the Aspire 3 A325-53 configuration listed with a 13th-generation Intel Core i5-1334U, 16GB DDR4 and a 512GB SSD. Another A325-53 listing can have a different panel, memory arrangement or storage drive. Treat the model number and the configuration code as part of the product name.

The dollar and rupee figures are snapshots from different markets, not an exchange-rate comparison. Taxes, retailer promotions, keyboard layouts and bundled software can change the final price.

Display: Lenovo is the clear winner

The Lenovo’s panel is the largest practical difference between these laptops. Tom’s Guide measured 408 nits on the 15.3-inch IPS screen. That brightness is useful near a window, in a classroom or under strong office lighting, where a dim budget panel becomes tiring to read.

The 1920×1200 resolution provides 120 extra vertical pixels compared with a 1920×1080 panel. That gives documents, web pages and spreadsheets a little more room before scrolling. The 16:10 shape also makes the display feel taller while keeping a conventional 15-inch footprint.

A 120Hz refresh rate makes scrolling and pointer movement look smoother than 60Hz, and the reviewed Lenovo is touch-sensitive. Touch is valuable for annotating a PDF, navigating a presentation from a desk or using tablet-style Windows controls. It also adds a reflective surface and a feature you may never use, so do not pay extra for it if you always work with a mouse and keyboard.

The cited Acer A325-53 has a 15.6-inch 1920×1080 non-touch display. Its listing does not establish brightness, refresh rate, panel technology or color coverage. A different Acer SKU may use a better or worse screen; confirm those fields in the exact listing rather than assuming every Aspire 3 has the same panel.

Performance for school and office work

Both configurations target everyday productivity: browser tabs, word processing, email, video calls, accounting software and streaming. Neither uses a dedicated graphics processor, so graphics-intensive applications share system resources with the CPU.

Lenovo’s measured result

Tom’s Guide recorded 2,669 single-core and 7,827 multi-core in Geekbench 6 for the Core 7 350 configuration. In practical testing, the reviewer kept about 20 browser tabs open and described the system as responsive. That is a useful indication for a student or office workload, although browser extensions, video meetings and large spreadsheets can still raise memory use.

What the integrated graphics mean

The Lenovo uses integrated Intel Graphics and the Acer uses Intel UHD Graphics. They are suitable for office applications, media playback and casual or older games at modest settings. Tom’s Guide specifically says the Lenovo is not intended for video editing or demanding gaming. Expect the same general limitation from the Acer configuration: a dedicated gaming laptop or creator workstation is a more appropriate choice for sustained 3D rendering, modern games or multi-stream 4K editing.

Do not choose on the processor name alone

“Core 7” and “Core i5” identify different Intel generations and product lines, so the labels do not provide a reliable speed ranking by themselves. The benchmark above applies only to the reviewed Lenovo SKU. Acer performance can vary with firmware, cooling, memory configuration and the exact i5-1334U implementation. If a retailer lists a different processor, compare that model rather than carrying over this result.

Battery life: a measured Lenovo result, but no direct Acer verdict

In Tom’s Guide’s web-browsing battery test, the Lenovo lasted 10 hours and 33 minutes. The reviewer also completed a workday at 44% screen brightness. That is strong enough for a typical school or office day when brightness, video calls and background applications are kept reasonable.

The same review notes that the result trails some competitors and is far below the 15 hours 30 minutes achieved by the MacBook Air in that publication’s testing. The Lenovo is therefore a good all-day budget option, not a battery-life leader across the entire laptop market.

No Acer Aspire 3 A325-53 result using the same test method was available. Battery-capacity figures or a retailer’s “up to” claim cannot be compared directly with Lenovo’s laboratory runtime. If long unplugged use is decisive, ask the seller for the exact battery capacity and look for an independent test of that exact Acer SKU.

Weight, size and everyday portability

The Lenovo starts at 3.51 pounds, approximately 1.59 kg. The cited Acer weighs 1.5 kg, about 90 grams less. That difference is noticeable only after repeated carrying, but it gives Acer a small advantage for commuters who already carry books, a charger and accessories.

Screen size partly explains the comparison: Acer’s panel is 15.6 inches while Lenovo’s is 15.3 inches, yet Acer remains lighter in the cited configuration. Starting weight also means a different SSD, display, battery or chassis option may change the Lenovo figure. Neither source establishes a comparable thickness measurement, so thickness should be checked in the individual product page if it matters for a sleeve or bag.

Ports and connectivity

Port selection may decide the purchase when you work at a fixed desk or connect older equipment.

Acer is the easier fit for a dorm, office or lab that requires a wired Ethernet connection, and its lock port can be useful for a permanently installed computer. Lenovo’s SD reader is convenient for cameras and removable storage. Because the Lenovo review notes a barrel charger, check whether the USB-C port supports power delivery before buying a USB-C laptop charger; otherwise plan for the supplied barrel laptop charger or a compatible replacement.

Keyboard, warranty and upgradeability require SKU-level checks

The cited specifications do not establish whether either keyboard has backlighting. Do not assume that a backlit keyboard is included because two laptops share a family name; retailer photos and configuration codes often reveal the difference.

Warranty length, regional support terms and accidental-damage coverage are also not stated in the comparison data. A lower price can reflect a shorter warranty or a seller-imported unit. Verify the warranty provider, service country and return period before payment.

The available specifications do not establish whether memory is soldered, socketed or partly upgradeable on either configuration. Confirm the service manual or manufacturer specification for the exact machine if you expect to add RAM or replace the SSD. Buying 16GB from the start is safer than relying on a future upgrade when the upgrade path is unclear.

Price and value by market

United States snapshot

Tom’s Guide reviewed the Lenovo at a $799 sale price against a $1,299 MSRP on August 4, 2026. Its verdict was positive at $799 but advised skipping the laptop at the full $1,299 MSRP. That distinction matters: the same hardware can be excellent value during a discount and poor value when the promotion ends.

India snapshot

A 2026 Smartprix comparison listed the Lenovo at ₹61,890 and the Acer at ₹54,650. Acer is ₹7,240 cheaper in that snapshot, but the two prices may represent different sellers, warranties or configuration codes. Use the gap as a reason to inspect the SKU, not as proof that Acer is universally cheaper.

How much more should Lenovo cost?

There is no universal exchange-rate or fair-price adjustment because the markets and listings differ. Lenovo’s brighter 120Hz touchscreen and documented battery test justify a premium when you will use those benefits every day. If the Lenovo price approaches its $1,299 MSRP, the display advantage may not compensate for the cost; if the discount is near $799, it is the stronger all-round purchase on the evidence available.

Which laptop fits your priorities?

Choose the Lenovo when

  • You read and write for hours and want the brighter 408-nit, 1920×1200 IPS touchscreen.
  • You value smoother 120Hz scrolling and touch input.
  • You need a documented, roughly ten-and-a-half-hour web-browsing result and the exact SKU matches the reviewed configuration.
  • The sale price is around $799–$999 rather than the $1,299 MSRP.
  • An SD-card reader is more useful to you than built-in Ethernet.

Choose the Acer when

  • The A325-53 configuration is materially cheaper after accounting for warranty and return terms.
  • You need a physical Ethernet jack for a school, office or lab network.
  • You prefer the cited 1.5 kg weight.
  • You need a security-lock port for a fixed desk.
  • You are comfortable with a 15.6-inch 1920×1080 non-touch screen and the listing confirms its brightness is acceptable.

Consider neither for heavy creative or gaming work

The integrated graphics in both machines are aimed at everyday use. Video editors working with complex timelines, 3D artists, engineers running GPU workloads and gamers expecting modern high settings should look for a laptop with a dedicated graphics processor, stronger cooling and a display suited to that work.

Before you buy: a model-matching checklist

  1. Copy the complete model number. For Lenovo, verify that the listing is the 15-inch Gen 11 configuration with the Core 7 350, 16GB RAM, 512GB PCIe 4.0 SSD and 1920×1200 120Hz touch panel if those are the features you want. For Acer, confirm A325-53 plus the seller’s full configuration code.
  2. Check the display line, not just the family name. Confirm resolution, touch support, refresh rate, panel type and brightness. A listing that says only “15-inch IdeaPad Slim 3” or “Aspire 3” is incomplete for this comparison.
  3. Verify memory and storage. Confirm 16GB rather than 8GB, and check whether the SSD is 512GB and replaceable if that matters to you.
  4. Inspect every port in the seller’s diagram. Look for Ethernet, SD, HDMI, USB-A count, USB-C charging support and the physical charging connector.
  5. Read the battery and charger details. Treat Lenovo’s 10:33 result as a laboratory reference, not a guarantee. Compare Acer only with a test performed under the same conditions.
  6. Confirm weight, keyboard and warranty. The cited Lenovo weight is a starting figure, Acer’s 1.5 kg applies to the cited model, and keyboard backlighting and warranty terms must be established by the individual seller.
  7. Recheck the price immediately before checkout. The $799 Lenovo price and the ₹61,890/₹54,650 Smartprix figures are dated snapshots. Promotions, taxes and stock can change.

Final buying decision

Buy the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3i Gen 11 15 when its discounted price is close to $799–$999 and the listing confirms the bright 120Hz touchscreen configuration. It offers the more compelling screen, a tested all-day workload result and enough performance for normal school and office multitasking.

Buy the Acer Aspire 3 A325-53 when the exact unit is meaningfully cheaper or when Ethernet, the security-lock port and the slightly lower weight solve a real need. Its lower price is the reason to choose it, not an assumption that every Aspire 3 has the same screen or battery behavior as the Lenovo.
