Lemon is an Android-only Nintendo Switch emulator derived from the Yuzu project. It first appeared in September 2026 and reached version 1.2.0 on October 13, adding built-in frame generation. “Picks up where Yuzu left off” describes Lemon’s code lineage and timing, not an official continuation or Nintendo partnership.
The practical questions are hardware, build choice, data migration and legal setup. Lemon requires Android 12 or newer on a 64-bit ARM phone or handheld, works best on supported Adreno hardware, now has newer Mali support, and requires you to supply games, keys and firmware dumped from your own console.

What is the Lemon Switch emulator?
Lemon is free, GPL v3-or-later software for Android. The project’s FAQ calls it an Android-only Switch emulator originally targeting Adreno GPUs; Mali support arrived in version 1.1. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by Nintendo.

What changed in Lemon 1.2.0?
The latest official release located is Lemon-Project v1.2.0, published October 13, 2026, at 20:59:25 UTC. Its headline feature is Lemon FG, an integrated frame-generation engine. In supported configurations, the frame-generation selector can use Lemon FG or Lossless Scaling if you provide your own Lossless.dll.
The project reports these measurements in its release notes:
| Game and device | Reported result |
|---|---|
| The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom on AYN Odin 3 | 48.1 → 47.9 fps |
| The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild on Galaxy S24 Ultra | 16.6 → 17.0 fps |
These are Lemon Project measurements, not an independent controlled benchmark. Treat them as examples from named devices and settings rather than a promise of a universal frame rate.

| Hardware | Support status | What to expect |
|---|---|---|
| Qualcomm Adreno | Original target | Best-supported path, particularly on recent high-end phones and handhelds. |
| ARM Mali | Supported from version 1.1 | Newer implementation; behavior can vary by game. |
| PowerVR | Unsupported | No tuned or supported path documented. |
| Samsung Xclipse | Unsupported | No tuned or supported path documented. |
On Mali GPUs, Lemon converts BCn textures to ASTC. Version 1.2 adds GPU conversion of BC4 and BC5 textures to EAC. Those conversions improve compatibility with texture formats the hardware does not handle natively, but they do not make every game equivalent to an Adreno configuration.
The bundled Lemon-Ade driver is based on the open-source Turnip driver. On Adreno 830 it is selected automatically; if a game fails to start, Lemon falls back to the system driver.
Should you download Lemon, Lemon Lite or Lemon Lite & Spoofed?
The FAQ documents three variants rather than one universally best APK.
| Variant | Intended use | Decision rule |
|---|---|---|
| Full Lemon | Recent high-end phones and gaming handhelds | Use when your device has a modern supported GPU and you want the normal feature set and defaults. |
| Lemon Lite | Adreno 6xx/7xx and Mali devices | Choose the lighter defaults when the full build is too demanding or unstable. |
| Lemon Lite & Spoofed | A separate lighter, spoofed configuration | Use only when a particular game or device needs that variant; the FAQ does not claim it is universally faster. |
Check your Android version, CPU ABI and GPU model before installing. A phone with an unsupported PowerVR or Xclipse GPU is not made compatible by selecting a different Lemon package.

How to install Lemon legally
- Use only the project’s stated distribution locations:
git.lemon-emu.org,lemon-emu.orgor its official GitHub mirror. The FAQ warns that the project cannot vouch for other sites offering a “Lemon APK.” - Install a release that matches Android 12-or-newer arm64 requirements and your GPU family.
- Open Lemon and use its launcher-style library to add content from your own legally dumped Switch games.
- Provide keys and firmware dumped from a console you own. Lemon does not provide them or help obtain them.
- Let Lemon manage a compatible graphics driver where available, and test the system-driver fallback if a title will not launch.
Emulation itself is legal, but distributing or downloading someone else’s games, keys or firmware is not the setup Lemon’s documentation supports. Lemon is not an official Nintendo product.
Can Lemon import Yuzu saves?
Yes. The project changelog says Lemon can import saves, keys and firmware from Eden, Citron and yuzu without opening the other emulator. It also supports save export and import within Lemon, so you can move a profile between installations while retaining your own data.
Migration still depends on having compatible files and a valid game dump. Keep a backup of the original save before importing, especially when changing emulator versions or moving between Android devices.

What controller works with Lemon?
A Bluetooth gamepad for Android is the most straightforward accessory choice. Version 1.0.0 added full controller navigation, per-game layouts and gamepad hotkeys, including documented combinations such as R3 + Start and the Guide button. You can configure layouts per game instead of forcing one mapping across the entire library.
Test the controller in Lemon’s interface before launching a title. If a game uses a different button arrangement, create a per-game layout rather than changing the global profile.

Known limitations and troubleshooting
If a game will not start
- Confirm the phone is Android 12 or newer and arm64.
- On supported Adreno hardware, try the bundled Lemon-Ade driver and then the system-driver fallback.
- Check whether the game is running on Mali, where support is newer and title behavior can differ.
- Do not expect a PowerVR or Xclipse phone to become supported through a software setting.
If graphics look wrong
The FAQ specifically lists FIFA 23 player faces rendering with incorrect colors. Mali texture conversion can also produce game-specific differences. Reported compatibility should therefore be treated per title, not as a guarantee for the whole Switch library.
If performance is inconsistent
Do not infer a fixed frame rate from the project’s two published examples. Device thermals, driver choice, resolution, game settings and frame-generation mode all affect results. Frame generation is an option to test, not proof that the underlying emulation speed has doubled.
Is Lemon really the new Yuzu for Android?
It is fair to call Lemon a Yuzu-derived Android project arriving after Yuzu’s development ended, but “new Yuzu” is shorthand rather than an official identity. Lemon has its own release cadence, Android-focused interface, driver work, migration tools and build variants. No controlled head-to-head test establishes that it is faster or more compatible than every other Yuzu-derived option.
For an Android owner with a supported Adreno or newer Mali GPU, Lemon is now a credible project to try: it has a current 1.2.0 release, save and firmware migration, controller-focused usability and experimental frame generation. The sensible approach is to match the build to the GPU, use only your own dumped software and keep normal in-game saves.
