Play Wet Dreams Don’t Dry first if you want Larry’s story in order. It establishes his jump from the late 1980s into modern Lost Wages, his pursuit of Faith, and the fictional Timber dating app that drives the first game. Choose Wet Dreams Dry Twice instead if you mainly want the larger tropical-island adventure and are comfortable starting in the middle of an ongoing story. The sequel can be enjoyed on its own, but its opening follows directly from the earlier game and some character and plot context will be missing.
Neither game replaces the other with a radically different puzzle system. Both are traditional point-and-click adventures built around conversation, exploration, inventory management and combining objects. The sequel changes the scenery, adds island travel and construction-style puzzles, and was described by a contemporary review as longer while remaining very similar mechanically and visually.

Wet Dreams Don’t Dry: Larry meets the modern world
The first game begins with Larry’s familiar fish-out-of-water premise: he comes from the late 1980s and lands in a contemporary version of Lost Wages. Instead of simply repeating the series’ older settings, the game makes modern dating culture and technology central to the plot. Larry pursues Faith while using Timber, a fictional dating application that provides both story motivation and comic opportunities.

- [Deep Bass with Clear Vocals] High-performance drivers produce punchy bass while keeping vocals clean and detailed for everyday listening.
That setup gives the game a clear identity. Its puzzles and conversations are filtered through an urban world of apps, social expectations and technology that Larry does not understand. If you want to see the premise introduced rather than explained after the fact, this is the natural starting point.
Wet Dreams Dry Twice: the search moves to Kalau’a
The sequel starts after the events involving Faith and moves Larry’s search to the Kalau’a archipelago. The tropical-island setting is the largest immediate contrast with the first game’s city-focused environment. You are still following the same protagonist and continuing the same search, but the visual language and travel structure change.
Its story assumes that the first game exists. That does not make it inaccessible to a newcomer: Meristation judged the first game unnecessary for enjoying the sequel, while recommending it for context. You can understand the broad objective in the sequel, but you will not experience the earlier setup, relationship history and escalation in the intended order.
Which game should you play first?
Choose Wet Dreams Don’t Dry when story continuity matters
- You want to watch Larry’s transition from the late 1980s into modern Lost Wages unfold from the beginning.
- You prefer to meet Faith and understand the Timber dating-app premise before the search continues.
- You usually play a series in release or narrative order.
- You want the urban, technology-centered setting rather than an island adventure.
The first game supplies the context that the sequel builds on. Playing it first also lets you judge the series’ humor, puzzle logic and adult tone before committing to a longer follow-up.
Choose Wet Dreams Dry Twice when the island setting is the priority
- You are most interested in the Kalau’a archipelago and a change from the city setting.
- You want the larger published location and character counts attached to the sequel’s store listing.
- You are willing to accept some missing backstory in exchange for starting with the continuation.
- You want a longer adventure that keeps the same classic point-and-click foundation.
The sequel is not a mechanical reinvention. Its appeal is the new setting, additional travel and continued story, not a completely different control scheme or puzzle genre.
If you only want one game
Pick based on the setting and story entry point, not on a dramatic difference in quality. Meristation gave both games 8/10 in its 2018 and 2020 reviews. Published coverage describes the sequel as longer, but also as very similar in gameplay and visuals. The practical choice is therefore straightforward: the original for the setup and urban dating premise, the sequel for the island continuation.

How the gameplay compares
The shared point-and-click foundation
Both games use the classic adventure format. You move Larry through hand-drawn environments, talk with characters, collect objects, inspect clues and combine inventory items to solve obstacles. Progress depends on interpreting dialogue and trying actions rather than on reflexes or combat.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
This structure makes the two games feel related even when the scenery changes. If you enjoy one, the other will not require learning an entirely new control model. Conversely, if you dislike inventory puzzles or experimentation with dialogue, the sequel’s island setting will not remove that underlying style.
Puzzle logic and difficulty
The review of Wet Dreams Don’t Dry notes that some puzzle logic can be obscure. In practice, that means a solution may depend on an unusual interpretation of a conversation, an item combination that is not immediately obvious, or a chain of actions that the game does not spell out. Expect to revisit locations, exhaust dialogue options and test combinations rather than assuming every clue has a single conspicuous answer.
Wet Dreams Dry Twice retains that challenge and adds item-construction puzzles associated with island travel. The sequel’s new systems expand what you do with collected objects, but they do not turn the game into a crafting or survival title. Exploration and inventory reasoning remain the central skills.
Travel and pacing in the sequel
The Kalau’a archipelago gives the sequel a broader travel framework. Moving among islands changes how you think about the game’s map and where an item might be useful. That structure supports the sequel’s longer length, while the underlying loop—explore, talk, collect, combine and return—remains familiar.

Urban technology versus tropical travel
Wet Dreams Don’t Dry uses contemporary Lost Wages to satirize dating and technology through Larry’s outdated perspective. The city setting keeps the story focused on social interactions and the Timber app.

- [Easy Disassemble] Making incidental repairs quick and easy! Very nice, flexible cable
- [Dont Hesite to Order] 24 hours customer services and professional technology team are standing by
Wet Dreams Dry Twice trades that urban focus for the Kalau’a archipelago. The change is more than a background swap: island travel becomes part of progression, and the environments support a different rhythm of exploration. Choose the first game for modern-city comedy; choose the sequel for an escapist tropical route through Larry’s continuing search.
Hand-drawn locations and characters
The Xbox listing for the first game advertises over 30 hand-drawn locales and characters. The PlayStation listing for the sequel advertises over 50 hand-drawn locations and over 40 new and returning characters.
Those figures should be read as store-description marketing claims, not as a standardized census. “Locales and characters” is not the same category as “locations” plus “new and returning characters,” so the numbers cannot prove that the sequel is exactly a particular percentage larger. They do indicate the sequel’s intended broader cast and island scope.
Story order: can you start with the sequel?
Yes. The sequel is playable without finishing Wet Dreams Don’t Dry. Meristation explicitly said the first game is not necessary to enjoy the sequel, while recommending it for context. That makes Wet Dreams Dry Twice a viable entry point for someone attracted to the island setting or unable to obtain the earlier title.
Starting with the sequel still has a cost. Its story begins immediately after the earlier game’s events, so the emotional and narrative significance of Larry’s search for Faith will be clearer if you have seen the setup. You will also encounter returning characters and references without the same history a first-time player would have built.
- Play Wet Dreams Don’t Dry to learn Larry’s modern-day premise, meet the central characters and follow the initial Faith storyline.
- Continue with Wet Dreams Dry Twice for the direct follow-up in Kalau’a.
- If you start with the sequel, treat the first game as optional background rather than a prerequisite for understanding the basic objective.
Adult humor and content considerations
Both games are aimed at adults and use irreverent humor and sexual references as part of their comedy. The review of Wet Dreams Don’t Dry says it does not show explicit sexual scenes, but that does not make it family-friendly: the subject matter and jokes are still adult.

The sequel’s official PlayStation metadata is more explicit about content categories, flagging crude humor, nudity, sexual content and strong language. A contemporary review likewise discusses sexual references without describing explicit scenes. Store metadata and review wording are not identical, so players should use the broader official content labels when deciding whether the game suits their household.
If you want an adventure game without sexual jokes, nudity references or strong language, neither title is a safe fit. If you are comfortable with adult satire and the series’ deliberately provocative tone, the content difference is not the main reason to choose one over the other; setting and story order are.

Availability is unusually time-sensitive. PC Gamer reported on October 9, 2026, that publisher Assemble Entertainment had announced both games would be removed from Steam on October 23, 2026. The announcement did not give a reason. Discussion that the change might involve an expired license is speculation, not an established explanation.
Because October 23 is close to the date of this article, check the live store page before planning a purchase. Store catalogs can change, and a delisting announcement does not by itself establish what happens to downloads, reinstallation or access for people who already own a copy. Do not assume those details without a current platform statement.

A practical decision guide
Pick the first game if your priority is narrative context
Start with Wet Dreams Don’t Dry when you want the complete progression from Larry’s arrival in modern Lost Wages through the Timber dating-app storyline. This route also lets you encounter the series’ puzzle conventions before the sequel adds island travel and construction tasks.
Best Value
Pick the sequel if your priority is setting and scope
Start with Wet Dreams Dry Twice when the Kalau’a archipelago is the feature that interests you most, or when you specifically want the longer follow-up described by Meristation. You will still get the familiar point-and-click format, but with a different environment and expanded travel structure.
Pick both if you enjoy traditional adventure design
The two games form a coherent sequence rather than competing versions of the same story. Playing both shows how the premise moves from a technology-centered city to a tropical archipelago while preserving dialogue-driven exploration and inventory puzzles. The order remains important for context, but the sequel’s standalone accessibility means you can adapt if platform availability determines what you can obtain.
What the reviews actually establish
Meristation awarded each game 8/10: the 2018 review covered Wet Dreams Don’t Dry, and the 2020 review covered Wet Dreams Dry Twice. Those are single-outlet assessments, not aggregate audience scores, sales figures or player-count measurements.

Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →The most useful qualitative distinction is that the sequel was described as longer while remaining mechanically and visually very similar. Final recommendation by player type
- New to the series: play Wet Dreams Don’t Dry first, then continue to Wet Dreams Dry Twice.
- Returning fan who wants more Larry: play the sequel for its direct continuation, island travel and larger advertised cast.
- Setting-first player: choose the sequel if tropical exploration matters more than seeing the original setup.
- Puzzle traditionalist: either game will feel familiar; choose by story order and environment because the core mechanics remain close.
- Content-sensitive player: read the platform’s current adult-content labels before buying; both games contain sexual humor, and the sequel’s PlayStation metadata additionally lists nudity and strong language.
For most players, the best answer is simple: play Wet Dreams Don’t Dry first, then Wet Dreams Dry Twice. Choose the sequel alone only when its island setting or current availability outweighs the value of experiencing Larry’s story from the beginning.
