LEGO Pokémon Pikachu and Poké Ball Set vs. LEGO Pokémon Eevee: Which Should You Buy?

By Freedom251 Team · · 11 min read

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

For most buyers, LEGO Pokémon Eevee 72151 is the practical value choice. LEGO lists it at $59.99 in the United States, with 587 pieces and a relatively small display footprint. Choose LEGO Pokémon Pikachu and Poké Ball 72152 if Pikachu is the character you want, you have room for a much larger model, and a roughly $200 centerpiece fits your budget. LEGO lists that set at $199.99 and 2,050 pieces.

Both sets carry an 18+ label and launched on February 27, 2026. The published specifications establish price, size, piece count and display features; they do not establish build time, difficulty, structural stability or comparative enjoyment. This guide uses the official specifications to match each set to a buyer, shelf and budget.

Quick answer: which set should you buy?

Buy Eevee 72151 when cost, shelf space or a shorter-looking project matters most. It gives you a movable Eevee figure for $140 less than the listed US price of the Pikachu set. Buy Pikachu and Poké Ball 72152 when Pikachu is the priority and you want a large display scene rather than a compact character model.

LEGO Pokémon Eevee 72151 Value-focused buyers, smaller shelves, Eevee fans and pose-oriented displays Fewer pieces and no Poké Ball scene
LEGO Pokémon Pikachu and Poké Ball 72152 Pikachu fans, centerpiece displays and buyers who want two presentation modes $140 higher listed US price and a substantially larger footprint

The right answer is therefore character- and space-dependent, not a simple ranking. Eevee is the sensible default for a budget-conscious purchase; Pikachu is the more ambitious display purchase.

LEGO Pokémon Eevee vs. Pikachu and Poké Ball: official specifications

Specification Eevee 72151 Pikachu and Poké Ball 72152
LEGO US price shown on the current product page $59.99 $199.99
Price in LEGO’s January 2026 launch announcement $59.99 $199.99

Age label 18+ 18+
Launch date February 27, 2026 February 27, 2026
Official height Over 7.5 in (19 cm) Over 13.5 in (35 cm)
Official width 6 in (15 cm) 10.5 in (26 cm)
Official depth 8.5 in (21 cm) 15.5 in (39 cm)
Movement or display features Adjustable tail, head, legs, feet and ears Posable ears and limbs; Pikachu can launch from an open Poké Ball or rest with the ball closed

LEGO states each dimension as over the listed imperial and metric measurement in its launch material. Treat the figures as minimum planning dimensions, especially if a pose moves a part beyond the nominal footprint.

Price, piece count and what you are paying for

The $140 gap is the first buying decision

The official US prices are $59.99 for Eevee and $199.99 for Pikachu and Poké Ball, a difference of $140. Those figures appeared both in LEGO’s January 2026 announcement and on the current US product pages cited for the sets. They are listed prices, not a guarantee of a future sale price, retailer discount or stock status.

On a simple price-per-piece calculation, Eevee is about 10.2 cents per piece ($59.99 divided by 587), while Pikachu and Poké Ball is about 9.8 cents per piece ($199.99 divided by 2,050). This arithmetic can help explain why the larger set does not cost proportionally more for every brick, but it is not a quality score. Piece size, printed or specialized elements, engineering and the finished display all affect what a set delivers.

Piece count measures project scale, not enjoyment

Pikachu’s 2,050 pieces are roughly three and a half times Eevee’s 587. That is a meaningful difference in the amount of construction represented by the boxes, but the published specifications do not say how many hours either build takes or whether one is more difficult. Do not treat the count as a promise of a longer or better experience; use it as an indication that Pikachu is the larger project.

Regional prices are not interchangeable

A LEGO product page in Estonia displayed Pikachu and Poké Ball at €209.99 and marked it available for that locale. That regional price should not be converted and presented as the US price. Taxes, currency, distribution and availability vary by country. If you are outside the United States, check the LEGO store serving your country and compare the local price directly rather than applying the US figures.

How much display space does each model need?

Eevee fits more easily on a desk or narrow shelf

LEGO lists Eevee at over 7.5 inches (19 cm) high, 6 inches (15 cm) wide and 8.5 inches (21 cm) deep. Its depth is greater than its width, so a shallow ledge should be measured front to back rather than judged only by the character’s apparent height. Leave additional clearance if you plan to angle the ears, tail, legs or feet into a pose.

Rank #2
LEGO Pokémon SMART Play: Eevee and Lapras's Treasure Hunt 72162
  • COMPATIBLE WITH LEGO SMART BRICK (NOT INCLUDED) – The LEGO Pokémon SMART Play Eevee and Lapras’s Treasure Hunt (72162) building toy is a LEGO SMART Play Compatible Set featuring 2 Pokémon figures, 3 SMART Tags and a buildable treasure chest
  • CREATIVE PLAY BUILDING TOY – Kids can become a Pokémon Trainer as they follow a map to a shipwreck, lower its mast to lift a rock and uncover a treasure chest full of coins and gems
  • YOU ARE THE TRAINER NOW – The buildable Eevee, Lapras and treasure chest each feature a SMART Tag that can activate a SMART Brick (not included) to trigger unique sounds and lights as it senses each tag and reacts to kids' movement
  • 2 POSABLE POKÉMON – Help the cute Eevee figure, with an adjustable tail and ears, and the large Lapras figure, with moving flippers, search for treasure, then add a SMART Brick (not included) to listen to music and battle with SMART Play interactivity
  • HOW TO ACTIVATE YOUR SET – Add a LEGO SMART Brick from an All-in-One Set (each set sold separately) to enable interactive play functionality. SMART Bricks are not available to purchase as a stand-alone product

At this size, Eevee can work on a desk, bookcase shelf or display cabinet where a larger centerpiece would crowd neighboring objects. The compact dimensions also make it easier to move the model when you reorganize a room, although LEGO’s published material does not rate its structural stability during handling.

Pikachu is a centerpiece with a deep footprint

The Pikachu set is listed at over 13.5 inches (35 cm) high, 10.5 inches (26 cm) wide and 15.5 inches (39 cm) deep. It is more than twice Eevee’s height and width, and its minimum depth is nearly double Eevee’s. The Poké Ball and stand are part of the visual footprint, so measuring only Pikachu’s body would understate the space required.

Before buying 72152, measure the exact shelf or tabletop area from front to back and side to side. Check vertical clearance under cabinets and the distance from the front edge; a 15.5-inch minimum depth can overhang a shallow shelf. Also account for room to open the ball and position Pikachu in its alternate display mode.

A practical space-check

  1. Measure usable width, depth and height at the intended location, not the outside dimensions of the furniture.
  2. Compare those measurements with the set’s official minimum dimensions: 15 × 21 × 19 cm for Eevee and 26 × 39 × 35 cm for Pikachu, listed as width × depth × height.
  3. Add a clearance margin for movable ears, limbs, tail and the Poké Ball opening.
  4. Decide whether the model will share the surface with books, a monitor or other collectibles. If it must share, Eevee is the safer fit.

What each set actually lets you display

Eevee 72151: a poseable character figure

Eevee’s defining feature is adjustability. LEGO says the tail, head, legs, feet and ears can all be adjusted for poses. That gives the model several presentation options without adding a second scene or container. You can orient the body toward a viewer, vary the ear and tail positions, and change the stance when you refresh a display.

The official description does not specify a set number of poses, articulation angles or a recommended pose. Consider the feature an invitation to arrange the listed parts rather than a guarantee of animation or toy-like play performance. The 18+ label and display-oriented scale also point toward collector presentation rather than rough play.

Pikachu and Poké Ball 72152: two named display modes

Pikachu has posable ears and limbs, but the larger attraction is the integrated Poké Ball. LEGO describes two ways to display it: Pikachu launching from an open Poké Ball, or Pikachu resting with the ball closed. The lightning-themed stand completes the scene and makes the set read as a presentation piece rather than only a standalone figure.

LEGO Pokémon SMART Play: Mewtwo's Lab Break 72163
  • COMPATIBLE WITH LEGO SMART BRICK (NOT INCLUDED) – The LEGO Pokémon SMART Play: Mewtwo’s Lab Break (72163) building toy is a LEGO SMART Play Compatible Set featuring a Legendary Pokémon, a SMART Tag and a buildable Master Ball
  • POKÉMON BUILDING TOY – Turn the dial at the front of the chamber to capture the iconic moment where the posable Mewtwo figure breaks out of the tank and uses its psychic-type powers to escape
  • YOU ARE THE TRAINER NOW – The buildable Mewtwo figure includes a hidden SMART Tag that can activate a SMART Brick (not included) to trigger unique sounds and lights as it senses the tag and reacts to kids' movements
  • INTERACTIVE MEWTWO MODEL – Kids can have fun creating their own pretend play adventures as they pose the brick-built Mewtwo toy, or add a SMART Brick (not included) to the Legendary Pokémon to see how it responds to their movements with SMART Play interactions
  • HOW TO ACTIVATE YOUR SET – Add a LEGO SMART Brick from an All-in-One Set (each set sold separately) to enable interactive play functionality. SMART Bricks are not available to purchase as a stand-alone product

The open-ball arrangement emphasizes action and uses the set’s full vertical presence. The closed-ball arrangement creates a more contained resting display. Switching between them is the reason to choose this set over a larger Pikachu figure without a ball; you are buying a character plus a changeable scene.

Which display feature matters more?

  • Choose Eevee if you prefer changing a single figure’s stance and want the character to remain the visual focus.
  • Choose Pikachu if opening and closing the Poké Ball is central to the appeal and you want a dramatic battle-style presentation.
  • If the model will be viewed from several angles, remember that the published specifications describe movement but do not document rear-view details or structural performance.

Build commitment and the 18+ label

Both sets are adult-labeled products

LEGO gives both sets an 18+ age label. That is the official audience designation, not a statement that younger builders cannot physically assemble bricks with supervision. Families should follow the packaging, local safety guidance and their own judgment about small parts. The label is useful when comparing these with children’s Pokémon toys: these are marketed as display builds for adult fans and collectors.

Do not assume a build time

No official source in the available product information states an assembly time, difficulty rating beyond the 18+ label, number of bags or expected break points. A 2,050-piece model will generally represent a larger project than a 587-piece model, but the exact time depends on the builder, interruptions and sorting habits. Do not buy Pikachu solely because you expect a specific number of evenings of construction.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

What the specifications cannot tell you

The published pages do not establish comparative enjoyment, structural stability, color accuracy under different lighting, ease of rebuilding or how well either model survives frequent moves. Those are legitimate questions, but they require hands-on testing or independent reviews. Base this purchase on the documented price, dimensions, piece count and display functions rather than invented performance claims.

Which character and gift situation fit each set?

Eevee is the focused, lower-risk gift

Eevee is the better choice when you know the recipient likes Eevee specifically, when the gift budget is near $60, or when you cannot confirm a large display area. Its lower price also makes it easier to buy as an entry point into the LEGO Pokémon range without committing to a $200 centerpiece.

Because the figure can be adjusted at the tail, head, legs, feet and ears, Eevee suits someone who enjoys refining a pose or periodically changing a shelf display. The set remains a single-character presentation, so it does not require the recipient to like Poké Ball staging as well as the Pokémon itself.

Pikachu is the statement gift

Pikachu and Poké Ball is the stronger choice when Pikachu is non-negotiable, the recipient collects large display models, or the gift is intended to be the focal point of a room. The two described modes provide a clear reason for the extra size and price: the buyer can show an energetic launch scene or a closed-ball resting scene.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Confirm the recipient has somewhere to put a model over 13.5 inches tall and 15.5 inches deep. A surprise purchase can become inconvenient if the shelf is too shallow or has a low cabinet above it.

When the recipient likes both characters

If the buyer or recipient likes both Pokémon equally, budget and space should decide. Eevee costs $140 less and occupies a much smaller footprint. Pikachu offers 1,463 more pieces, a Poké Ball and two named configurations, but requires the larger financial and spatial commitment. There is no published evidence that one offers better building quality or enjoyment, so do not invent a tie-breaker beyond those documented differences.

Is Pikachu worth more than Eevee?

The answer depends on what the extra $140 buys for you. It buys a model listed at over 35 cm high instead of over 19 cm, over 39 cm deep instead of over 21 cm, 2,050 pieces instead of 587, and a Poké Ball with open and closed display modes. It does not buy a documented promise of easier construction, greater stability or more fun.

For a collector who wants a centerpiece and values the Poké Ball scene, those additions can justify the premium. For someone furnishing a small office, testing the theme for the first time or shopping near the $60 mark, the same additions may be unnecessary. Calling Pikachu “worth it” without stating that preference hides the real decision.

A decision framework you can use in two minutes

Pick Eevee when most of these statements are true

  • Your US budget is around $60 rather than $200.
  • Your available display area is closer to 15 × 21 × 19 cm than 26 × 39 × 35 cm.
  • You prefer a single poseable character to a character-and-Poké-Ball scene.
  • You want the lower-cost way to start with LEGO Pokémon display sets.
  • Eevee is the recipient’s favorite or the safer character choice.

Pick Pikachu and Poké Ball when most of these statements are true

  • Pikachu is the main reason for the purchase.
  • You can spend the listed US price of $199.99 without relying on an unverified discount.
  • Your shelf or table can accommodate at least the published 26 cm width, 39 cm depth and 35 cm height, plus movement clearance.
  • You specifically want an open-ball launch display and a closed-ball resting display.
  • A large centerpiece is more appealing than a compact model.

Stop and measure before ordering 72152

The most avoidable mistake is buying the larger set before checking depth. Pikachu’s listed depth is 15.5 inches, compared with Eevee’s 8.5 inches. A shelf that can hold the height may still be too shallow for the Poké Ball and stand. Measure first, then decide whether the larger scene can remain assembled in the intended location.

Buying and availability checks

  1. Verify the country store. Use the LEGO shop serving your location; the US prices cannot be assumed worldwide.
  2. Check the date beside the price. Prices and stock can change after the February 27, 2026 launch. Record whether you are seeing a current listing, a promotion or a marketplace offer.
  3. Match the exact set number. Eevee is 72151; Pikachu and Poké Ball is 72152. Confirm the number before checkout so a similarly named Pokémon product is not substituted.
  4. Confirm the physical dimensions. Compare the published minimum dimensions with your measured shelf, including clearance for movable parts and the Poké Ball opening.
  5. Keep the receipt and packaging information. LEGO’s product pages establish the official specifications, but return rules and shipping conditions depend on the seller and country.

Common buying mistakes and how to avoid them

Mistake: treating piece count as a quality rating

Pikachu has many more pieces, but that does not prove it is better designed or more enjoyable. Use piece count to estimate project scale and compare the physical model, not to declare a winner.

Mistake: comparing a foreign price with the US listing

The €209.99 Estonia listing is a local price. Exchange-rate conversion does not account for tax, shipping or regional pricing. Compare like with like in your own market.

Mistake: assuming “18+” means a required skill level

The label identifies the intended audience. It does not provide a measured difficulty score or a guaranteed build duration. If difficulty is your deciding factor, the available official specifications do not answer it.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Mistake: planning for only the figure’s body

For Pikachu, the Poké Ball and stand determine much of the depth. For Eevee, an adjusted tail, ears or feet can extend beyond a neutral pose. Use the stated dimensions as minimum planning figures and leave room to pose the model.

Final verdict

Buy LEGO Pokémon Eevee 72151 for value, flexibility and easier placement. Its $59.99 US listing, 587 pieces and compact over-19-by-15-by-21-centimeter dimensions make it the sensible choice for most budgets and shelves.

Buy LEGO Pokémon Pikachu and Poké Ball 72152 for the centerpiece experience. Its $199.99 US listing, 2,050 pieces, over-35-by-26-by-39-centimeter dimensions and two Poké Ball display modes earn the premium when Pikachu and a large scene are exactly what you want. Neither set has published evidence of superior build difficulty, stability or enjoyment, so let character preference, space and budget make the final call.
