What makes the PlayStation set different?
LEGO describes PlayStation 72306 as a near 1:1-scale-style replica of the original console, measuring over 6 cm high, 26 cm wide, and 19 cm deep (over 2.5 × 10.5 × 7.5 inches). Its controller plugs into the console, and its Open and Power buttons work as physical features of the model. Those details make it a display model, not a functioning PlayStation. The buttons and hidden scenes add interaction and a reveal, but the set does not play games. Its appeal is specifically the original console’s shape, controller, and associated game references—not a TV-and-console arrangement like the NES set.

Choose PlayStation 72306 for the original Sony console
Pick this set if the original PlayStation is the centerpiece you want on a shelf and you value details tied to its games. At 1,911 pieces and over 26 cm wide, it is a substantial display build. LEGO announced a US retail price of $179.99 and general purchase beginning October 4, 2026; Insiders early access was announced for October 1, 2026. Those are announced dates and prices, so check the current LEGO listing or retailers for live stock and actual price.
Choose Game Boy 72046 for a compact handheld replica
The Game Boy is the practical alternative if you want a smaller build and a handheld rather than a living-room console. Its 421 pieces recreate the handheld’s controls and other details, with interchangeable Game Paks and lenticular screens and a stand for display. LEGO’s US gaming category showed $59.99 when checked. It is not a substitute for the PlayStation if your priority is that console’s design or its game-themed scenes.

Consider Atari 2600 10306 for cartridges and vignettes
The Atari’s presentation centers on the joystick, three cartridges, miniature game scenes, and a hidden 1980s room. It has the highest piece count among these four sets, at 2,532, but that does not by itself make it a better or more involved build. LEGO marks the product retired. The $239.99 displayed on its US page is a page figure, not a confirmed price for a new set available to buy now.

Consider NES 71374 for a console-and-TV display
The NES set includes a console, controller, Game Pak, and retro TV. Turning a handle moves the TV’s scrolling screen, making its display interaction mechanical rather than playable: it is not a working NES. LEGO labels the set retired, and the $269.99 displayed on its US product page should not be treated as a current offer or a secondhand-market price.

Check availability before comparing prices
LEGO announced October 4, 2026, as the PlayStation set’s general release date. However, LEGO’s US gaming category still showed the set as “Coming Soon” when accessed. Because those listing details can change, confirm the current product page and retailer stock before making a purchase decision. The announcement lists £139.99 for the UK, €159.99 for the euro area, and $179.99 for the US; these are announced regional prices, not a promise of local taxes, discounts, or third-party stock.
For Atari and NES, “retired” means the official page’s displayed price cannot establish that a new set is available at that amount. Check seller, condition, completeness, and total price when evaluating a listing. The Game Boy’s $59.99 category price is also a captured listing, so verify it before buying. LEGO’s US category additionally showed a SEGA Genesis Console at $39.99, but without verified product details here it is best treated only as another smaller option to investigate on its listing.

A simple decision order
- Start with the console or game franchise. Buy for the system you actually want to display: PlayStation, Game Boy, Atari, or NES.
- Check the form and shelf space. The Game Boy is the handheld option; PlayStation is a console replica over 26 cm wide; Atari and NES add their own accessories and display setups.
- Decide whether accessories or mechanisms matter. PlayStation has its plug-in controller and working buttons; Game Boy has interchangeable display elements; Atari emphasizes cartridges and vignettes; NES includes a moving TV-screen mechanism.
- Confirm status and real-world price. Check live LEGO and retailer pages, and treat retired-set listings according to their actual seller, condition, and asking price.
Which should you buy?
Buy LEGO PlayStation 72306 if you are specifically an original PlayStation fan and want its console, controller, and game-inspired scenes in one display build. Choose Game Boy 72046 if handheld nostalgia, a smaller model, or the lower listed price matters more. Atari 2600 10306 and NES 71374 make sense for their particular retro-console displays, but their retired status means availability and price require extra scrutiny. None is an objectively superior build on the evidence available; the right choice depends on the console you care about and what is actually available at a price you accept.
