Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →If you want a display model of the original PlayStation, LEGO PlayStation (72306) is the clearest choice: its 1,911-piece console opens to reveal miniature Gran Turismo and Ape Escape scenes. It is not a standalone Gran Turismo car set or a playable racing game. If your nostalgia is for an arcade cabinet or the NES, compare it with LEGO PAC-MAN Arcade or the retired NES set instead.
What LEGO PlayStation 72306 includes
Announced by the LEGO Group on September 3, 2026, set 72306 is an age-18+ display model representing the original PlayStation at near 1:1 scale. Its 1,911 pieces build the console and an original controller that plugs into it. The model has functional Open and Power buttons, and the console opens to reveal brick-built scenes inspired by Gran Turismo and Ape Escape. LEGO dates the original games to 1997 and 1999, respectively. LEGO’s announcement gives a US suggested retail price of $179.99 and a general release date of October 4, 2026, after Insiders early access beginning October 1.

The Gran Turismo feature is a miniature track with small cars, tucked inside the console. The scenes can also be pulled out for separate display. The format is best understood as a nostalgic console replica with hidden vignettes—not a collection of detailed racing cars or a game to play.

How the alternatives compare
| Set | What it builds | Pieces | Price and listing status | Best fit |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| LEGO PlayStation 72306 | Near 1:1 original PlayStation replica, plug-in controller, functional Open and Power buttons, and concealed Gran Turismo and Ape Escape scenes. | 1,911 (LEGO, 2026) | $179.99 US suggested retail price announced by LEGO in 2026; retailer prices may differ. Choose by the kind of gaming set you want
Pick PlayStation for console nostalgia and hidden game scenes
Choose 72306 if the original PlayStation is the point. The controller, working model buttons, and concealed Gran Turismo and Ape Escape scenes all support that console-first display idea. Gran Turismo is one of the references inside the larger build, so it is a weaker match if your main goal is a dedicated racing-car model.

- Retro Console Lighting: Color-changing accent lighting adds a vivid game-room glow around the gray console and controller, bringing out the disc lid, front controls and removable hidden dioramas. The layered light emphasizes the near 1:1 retro hardware silhouette and gives the display a nostalgic 1990s gaming atmosphere after dark.
- Touch Color & Multi-Effect Control: Use the touch area to turn the lights on or off and change the accent color; double-tap to switch among multiple lighting effects. Press and hold to adjust effect speed and brightness for different retro gaming display moods.

Pick NES for a console-and-TV centerpiece
The NES set offers a different format: console, controller, cartridge, and a TV with a scrolling screen. LEGO lists 2,646 pieces and marks the product retired in the US. Because that status affects where you can buy it, compare trusted sellers and total prices rather than assuming the original retail price still applies.
Pick PAC-MAN for an arcade-cabinet display
PAC-MAN Arcade is the closest alternative here if you want the object itself to be an arcade machine. Its mechanical maze and illuminated coin slot distinguish it from the PlayStation’s hidden dioramas. LEGO’s US page showed it sold out in the October 4, 2026 snapshot, so confirm the current listing in your region before deciding.

Look beyond these three for active play

- Match the franchise: decide whether PlayStation, NES, or PAC-MAN is the connection you most want represented.
- Match the format: 72306 is a console replica with pull-out scenes; NES pairs a console with a TV; PAC-MAN is an arcade cabinet with a mechanical maze.
- Check the space: compare the model’s dimensions on its current product page with the shelf or desk where it will go. Piece count alone does not tell you how much display space it needs.
- Verify the seller and price: the PlayStation figure is LEGO’s announced US suggested retail price, not a guarantee of another retailer’s or future price. For retired or sold-out sets, stock and prices may vary substantially by seller.
- Check regional listings: the cited prices and listing statuses are for LEGO’s US market; they do not establish prices or availability elsewhere.
The official pages establish product features, piece counts, the announced PlayStation price, and the listing statuses noted above. They do not establish build time, resale value, or which set an individual buyer will enjoy most. LEGO’s US catalog is available at LEGO Gaming; confirm live product details before purchasing.
