The Marvel Skyline (67006) is the best choice when you want many Marvel locations in a compact, shallow display. It is not a smaller version of Avengers Tower or Daily Bugle: it is a microscale panorama. The other three sets are substantially larger buildings designed around minifigure-scale rooms, removable sections and, in The X-Mansion’s case, LEGO’s Super Hero modular street.

The short answer: choose by format before choosing by franchise

These four LEGO Marvel displays serve different purposes. The Marvel Skyline compresses a city’s worth of settings into a 21 cm-high, 40 cm-wide and 11 cm-deep scene. Avengers Tower and Daily Bugle are tall, openable buildings with extensive interiors. The X-Mansion is a two-level X-Men building that occupies a wider, deeper footprint and is designed to sit with other Super Hero modular buildings.

If shelf depth is your limiting factor, the Skyline is the clear fit. If you want a towering centerpiece, Avengers Tower is the largest and tallest of the four. Spider-Man-focused collectors get the most character-driven building experience from Daily Bugle. X-Men fans who want a dedicated building that can join a larger street layout should look at The X-Mansion.

At-a-glance comparison

Set Pieces Published size Display format Characters or figures Best fit
The Marvel Skyline 67006 1,261 21 × 40 × 11 cm Microscale city panorama Galactus minifigure; Spider-Man and Human Torch trophy figures Broad Marvel coverage in a shallow horizontal display
Avengers Tower 76269 5,201 Over 90 cm high Tall MCU building with accessible interior 31 figures A vertical centerpiece and large interior scenes
Daily Bugle 76178 3,789 Over 82 cm high Four-story Spider-Verse building 25 characters Spider-Man stories, figures and an openable skyscraper
X-Men: The X-Mansion 76294 3,093 27 × 40 × 25 cm Two-level X-Men building; Super Hero modular context 10 minifigures X-Men display and a modular-style street

The dimensions and counts above are LEGO’s published specifications. “Over 90 cm” and “over 82 cm” are height descriptions rather than exact measurements, so they should not be treated as precise shelf-clearance figures.

What The Marvel Skyline 67006 actually is

A compressed Marvel city, not a single building

The Skyline’s defining choice is scale. Instead of giving one location enough room for minifigure rooms, it places recognizable Marvel settings next to one another in a single microscale composition. LEGO identifies Avengers Tower, Daily Bugle, Baxter Building and X-Men Mansion among the represented locations. The scene also includes Wakandan Embassy, Rand Enterprises, Pym Laboratories, Hammer Industries, Roxxon, Oscorp and Fisk Tower.

That list gives the model unusual breadth. A single building set usually asks you to commit to one story world; the Skyline lets an MCU location, a Fantastic Four setting, an X-Men reference and several fictional corporations share one skyline. The trade-off is that those buildings are viewed as architectural icons. You are not getting full-size rooms, elevators, laboratories or offices to populate with standard minifigures.

Small footprint, strong horizontal presence

At 40 cm wide, the Skyline still needs meaningful shelf length, but its 11 cm depth is substantially shallower than The X-Mansion’s 25 cm depth and far less demanding than a tall building with a deep interior. Its 21 cm height also fits under shelves and in display cabinets where a 90 cm tower cannot.

The shallow profile makes the Skyline suitable for a mantel, narrow bookcase or desk shelf. Leave enough width for the projecting vehicles and visual details, and avoid placing it where a nearby object will hide the rear portion of the panorama. Because it is a single composition, it reads best from the front and from a slight angle rather than as a building intended to be opened repeatedly.

Included display details

LEGO’s product description includes a Galactus minifigure and Spider-Man and Human Torch trophy figures. The Skyline also supplies the X-Jet, Fantastic Four rocket ship and Spider-Mobile. These elements reinforce the set’s role as a curated Marvel overview: vehicles and character markers identify stories without requiring full interiors.

LEGO positions the set as adult-oriented room décor and mentions Build Together mode in the LEGO Builder app. That makes it a reasonable shared project for builders who want a shorter, more approachable commitment than a 3,000- or 5,000-piece building, while still producing a substantial display.

How the building displays differ in scale and use

Avengers Tower 76269: the vertical centerpiece

With 5,201 pieces and a published height of over 90 cm, Avengers Tower is the most piece-heavy and tallest option in this comparison. It is intended to dominate a display rather than sit quietly on a small shelf. Measure the vertical clearance above your intended location before buying; a cabinet designed for ordinary modular buildings will not automatically accommodate it.

A side of the tower and the roof lift off to expose the interior. That access changes how the model works: you can arrange scenes inside, inspect construction details and use the building as a display that rewards viewing from more than one angle. LEGO presents it as a build-and-display project featuring scenes from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The tower’s advantage is immersion through height and interior volume. Its disadvantage is commitment: it consumes the most vertical space, uses the most pieces and requires a display surface that can safely support a very tall model. It is the logical choice when the building itself is meant to be the main event.

Daily Bugle 76178: a four-story Spider-Verse set

Daily Bugle contains 3,789 pieces and 25 characters. LEGO describes it as a four-story building standing over 82 cm high, with floors, roof and façades that are removable or detachable to reveal the interior. Those removable sections make the building easier to access than a sealed skyscraper and let you change the emphasis from exterior architecture to interior scenes.

The Bugle is narrower in theme than the Skyline but deeper in one story world. Its character count supports Spider-Man’s large supporting cast and the visual chaos associated with the newspaper building. Choose it when Spider-Man characters, newsroom action and a tall urban façade matter more to you than representing many Marvel franchises in one model.

Like Avengers Tower, Daily Bugle needs serious vertical clearance. The published “over 82 cm” height does not include a universal allowance for opening or removing sections, so leave room to handle the roof and façades without striking a shelf above.

  • GIFT IDEA FOR BOYS & GIRLS – Makes a standout birthday or holiday present for those who love superhero toys and challenging building projects

The X-Mansion 76294: a two-level modular-style building

The X-Mansion uses 3,093 pieces, carries an 18+ age rating and includes 10 minifigures. Its published dimensions are 27 cm high, 40 cm wide and 25 cm deep. Compared with the Skyline, it is the same width but more than twice as deep and 6 cm taller. That extra depth is the cost of a building with usable interior space rather than a shallow panorama.

LEGO describes the model as suitable for play or display and places it in the Super Hero modular line alongside Sanctum Sanctorum, Daily Bugle and Avengers Tower. Designer Justin Ramsden explained the design goal this way: “We wanted to tie it into our Super Hero modular street.” In practical terms, that means the X-Mansion is the strongest option here if your display plan involves a connected superhero streetscape rather than isolated models.

The two-level format gives X-Men fans a dedicated architectural home while keeping the model much shorter than the two skyscrapers. Its 25 cm depth is still substantial, so check both shelf depth and front clearance before planning a row of buildings.

Microscale panorama versus minifigure-scale interiors

The most important comparison is not piece count; it is what the pieces are building. The Skyline uses microscale architecture to communicate identity through silhouettes, colors and landmark placement. Its Avengers Tower and Daily Bugle references are part of a unified city scene, so they should not be judged as substitutes for the full Avengers Tower or Daily Bugle sets.

The three building displays are designed around access. Removable walls, roofs, floors or façades let you see and arrange interior scenes. Their larger scale also gives minifigures a meaningful role in the model. If you enjoy posing characters, staging battles or revisiting rooms after the build, an openable building offers more interaction than the Skyline.

Conversely, a microscale display can communicate more franchises without becoming physically enormous. The Skyline is the efficient choice for someone who wants Fantastic Four, X-Men, Avengers and multiple fictional companies represented together, even if no one setting receives a complete room.

Theme and character focus

Choose the Skyline for Marvel variety

The Skyline is the broadest thematic survey. Its named locations span several corners of Marvel, and the included X-Jet, Fantastic Four rocket ship and Spider-Mobile add recognizable story cues. It works particularly well when your collection is mixed and you do not want the display to be dominated by one hero or one cinematic era.

Choose Avengers Tower for MCU scale

Avengers Tower is aimed at builders who want a large MCU landmark with enough interior access to stage scenes. Its 31 figures are the highest published character count among these four sets, and the building’s height makes it a natural focal point in a dedicated Marvel room.

Choose Daily Bugle for Spider-Man depth

Daily Bugle’s 25 characters and four-story form concentrate attention on Spider-Man’s city and supporting cast. It is a better thematic match than the Skyline when you want one large narrative environment rather than a cross-franchise overview.

Choose The X-Mansion for X-Men and modular context

The X-Mansion is the specialist choice for X-Men collectors. Its 10 minifigures are fewer than the counts for the two skyscrapers, but the set’s value is its dedicated two-level building and its stated relationship to the Super Hero modular line.

Footprint, height and display planning

Display question Best-matched set Why
Do you have only about 11 cm of shelf depth? The Marvel Skyline Its published depth is 11 cm, the shallowest stated dimension here.
Do you want the tallest possible focal point? Avengers Tower LEGO lists it at over 90 cm high.
Can you provide roughly 80–90 cm of vertical clearance? Avengers Tower or Daily Bugle Both are skyscraper-scale displays; their published heights exceed 90 cm and 82 cm respectively.
Do you need a lower building with meaningful depth? The X-Mansion It is 27 cm high but 25 cm deep and designed as a two-level building.
Do you want a 40 cm-wide, front-facing panorama? The Marvel Skyline Its 40 cm width and 21 cm height create a broad, shallow composition.
Are you planning a connected Super Hero street? The X-Mansion LEGO explicitly places it in the modular line with Sanctum Sanctorum, Daily Bugle and Avengers Tower.

For any of these models, use a level surface and account for the space needed to remove roofs, façades or sides. A display that fits only when closed can become impractical if you want to use the interior features.

Piece count is useful, but it is not a value score

The piece totals show commitment more clearly than they show display quality. The Skyline’s 1,261 pieces explain why it can cover many locations without reaching skyscraper size. Avengers Tower’s 5,201 pieces reflect its exceptional height and interior scope. Daily Bugle’s 3,789 pieces support four stories and removable sections, while The X-Mansion’s 3,093 pieces build a substantial two-level structure.

Do not assume that the largest number automatically means the best purchase. A builder with limited space may get more practical value from the Skyline, while an X-Men collector may prefer the X-Mansion despite its lower character count. Match the construction scale to the way you intend to display and use the model.

A decision framework for choosing one set

  1. Measure the display location. Record usable width, depth and height, including clearance above the model for removable parts. Eliminate any set that cannot be safely accessed.
  2. Pick the visual format. Select the Skyline for a horizontal microscale panorama. Select one of the three buildings if you want minifigure-scale interiors and an openable structure.
  3. Choose the franchise emphasis. Use the Skyline for mixed Marvel coverage, Avengers Tower for MCU spectacle, Daily Bugle for Spider-Man, and The X-Mansion for X-Men.
  4. Decide whether modular compatibility matters. The X-Mansion has the clearest stated connection to the Super Hero modular street. The other sets can still be displayed together, but the cited modular-line description applies specifically to The X-Mansion and its named neighbors.
  5. Plan how you will interact with the model. If you expect to pose figures or inspect rooms, prioritize a building with removable sections. If the goal is a stable room-decor piece that communicates many landmarks at a glance, prioritize the Skyline.

Which combination makes sense for a larger Marvel display?

The sets are complementary rather than interchangeable. The Skyline can act as a compact overview behind or beside a larger building, while Avengers Tower and Daily Bugle provide the height and interior detail that a panorama intentionally omits. The X-Mansion can anchor an X-Men-focused section and connect visually with the named Super Hero modular neighbors.

When combining models, avoid treating the Skyline’s microscale landmarks as physically compatible with minifigure-scale doors or floors. Their shared subject matter makes them thematically coherent, but their architectural scales are different. A good arrangement can use that difference deliberately: place the Skyline as a city backdrop or overview, then give the full-size buildings separate foreground positions.

What is not established by the published specifications

The official specifications establish pieces, dimensions, included figures, access features and modular-line positioning. They do not establish a current retail price, stock status or resale value. Those details change by country, retailer and date, so confirm them separately before purchasing. The comparison above is about format and physical design, not a claim about which set offers the lowest price or the best investment.

Bottom line

The Marvel Skyline 67006 is the compact, shallow choice for collectors who want a wide survey of Marvel locations in one microscale scene. Avengers Tower 76269 is the tallest and most substantial centerpiece, Daily Bugle 76178 is the best fit for a large Spider-Man building with removable sections, and The X-Mansion 76294 is the dedicated X-Men building for a two-level display tied to LEGO’s Super Hero modular street. Decide first whether you want a panorama or an accessible building; that single choice narrows the comparison more effectively than piece count alone.
