Choose LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight if you want Batman, Gotham, and Bruce Wayne’s journey to becoming a hero at the center of the game. Choose LEGO DC Super-Villains if creating your own villain and joining the Legion of Doom sounds more appealing. The choice is about which story and player fantasy you want—not a proven winner: the available official descriptions do not provide a like-for-like review, length, or replayability comparison.

Choose Legacy of the Dark Knight if you want Batman’s story
Legacy of the Dark Knight is the more direct fit if you want the Caped Crusader—not a custom character or a villain team—to drive the adventure. Its premise follows Bruce Wayne’s development into Batman, and the publisher frames it as an open-world action-adventure in Gotham.

The combat description also makes this the clearer pick if Batman-style fighting is part of the appeal: Warner Bros. Games specifically names attack chains, counters, takedowns, and gadgets. That describes the advertised emphasis; it is not evidence that its combat is better than Super-Villains.

LEGO DC Super-Villains gives you a different point of view: you create a villain and take part in a story centered on the Legion of Doom and the Justice Syndicate. It is the natural choice if building your own character and playing on the villains’ side matter more to you than following Bruce Wayne’s rise.
#1 Best Overall
- Main Story - Bruce Wayne’s journey from origin to legend as he trains with The League of Shadows, becomes the hero of Gotham City, and forges a new family of allies with Jim Gordon, Catwoman, Robin, Nightwing, and Batgirl. Confront an ever-growing threat from across Batman’s Rogues Gallery as you face The Joker, The Penguin, Mr. Freeze, Poison Ivy, Bane, and more
- 7 Playable Characters - Batman, Jim Gordon, Robin, Nightwing, Batgirl, Catwoman, and Talia al Ghul each bring unique skills and signature gadgets as you uncover crimes, complete challenges, and explore an immersive Gotham City full of secrets and surprises
- 100 Suits - Inspired by Batman’s 86-year legacy, you’ll find an array of Batsuits alongside individual outfits for every playable character
- 20+ Vehicles - A range of Batmobiles and Batcycles to drive around Gotham City's open world in style. Including iconic rides like the legendary Tumbler
- 250+ Batcave Props & Trophies - Customize and display a wide range of items to personalize your Batcave and celebrate your achievements
Its listed settings extend beyond Gotham to Metropolis and Smallville. The official page establishes that broader DC premise, but does not support a detailed comparison of combat mechanics with Legacy of the Dark Knight.
Check your platform and co-op needs
Platform availability is edition-specific, so confirm the listing for the exact console or PC you own rather than relying on a general platform label. DC lists Super-Villains for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC, and Nintendo Switch. Legacy of the Dark Knight has a separately dated Nintendo Switch 2 version; check its current official listing for platform and edition details.

What the official information does not settle
There is no like-for-like evidence here to say which game is longer, better reviewed, or more replayable. Nor is there a basis for declaring one universally better. The supported recommendation is about fit: Batman’s origin and Gotham on one side, a custom villain and the Legion of Doom on the other.
