When did it release?

The Standard Edition went on sale worldwide on May 22, 2026. Warner Bros. Games announced Deluxe Edition early access for May 19, 2026, giving Deluxe buyers access three days before the standard launch. The official DC listing also identifies May 22, 2026 as the on-sale date.

TT Games described the release as its most ambitious LEGO game to date. Jonathan Smith, Head of the Development Team and Strategic Director at TT Games, said: "On behalf of the entire team at TT Games, we’re incredibly proud to launch LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, our most ambitious LEGO game ever."

PC system requirements

These are the current requirements listed for the Steam version. Both tiers require a 64-bit processor and operating system, Windows 11, 16 GB of system memory and 50 GB of available storage.

Component Minimum Recommended
Operating system Windows 11, 64-bit Windows 11, 64-bit
Processor Intel Core i5-10600K or AMD Ryzen 5 1600 Intel Core i7-12700 or AMD Ryzen 7 5800X
Memory 16 GB RAM 16 GB RAM
Graphics NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960 (4 GB), AMD Radeon RX 6400 (4 GB), or Intel Arc A580 (8 GB) NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER (8 GB), AMD Radeon RX 6650 XT (8 GB), or Intel Arc B580 (12 GB)
Storage 50 GB available 50 GB available

What the minimum tier means

A PC meeting the minimum list is within the publisher’s supported baseline, but the list does not promise a particular frame rate, resolution or graphics preset. The GTX 960, RX 6400 and Arc A580 are three alternative examples, not components that must all be installed. The same applies to the listed Intel and AMD processors: one of the specified or equivalent configurations is the relevant comparison.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

What the recommended tier means

The recommended list gives more processing and graphics headroom than the baseline. It pairs a Core i7-12700 or Ryzen 7 5800X with an RTX 2070 SUPER, RX 6650 XT or Arc B580, while keeping the memory and storage targets at 16 GB and 50 GB. Meeting this tier still does not guarantee a fixed FPS result because Steam does not publish tested frame rates or guaranteed resolutions for each GPU.

Check your PC before buying

  1. Confirm that Windows reports a 64-bit installation of Windows 11. A 32-bit operating system does not meet the listed requirement.
  2. Check the processor model in Windows’ System Information or your motherboard utility and compare it with the Core i5-10600K/Ryzen 5 1600 minimum or the Core i7-12700/Ryzen 7 5800X recommendation.
  3. Check the discrete or integrated graphics model and dedicated video memory. The minimum examples specify 4 GB for the GeForce and Radeon cards, while the Arc A580 example lists 8 GB.
  4. Verify that at least 50 GB is free on the drive where the game will be installed. Leave additional space for operating-system files and future updates rather than treating 50 GB as a comfortable reserve.
  5. Make sure the computer has 16 GB of RAM. Both published tiers use the same memory requirement, so adding RAM alone does not turn a below-minimum graphics card into a recommended configuration.

What the requirements do not tell you

The published table does not specify a target such as 1080p at 60 frames per second, ray-tracing settings, an upscaling mode or a laptop-GPU equivalent. Performance can vary with cooling, power limits, drivers, background applications and the selected resolution. Treat the minimum tier as a compatibility floor and the recommended tier as a stronger starting point, not as a benchmark promise.

What kind of game is it?

The campaign follows Bruce Wayne’s path from training with the League of Shadows to becoming Batman. The story includes allies and characters such as Jim Gordon, Robin, Nightwing, Batgirl, Catwoman and Talia al Ghul.

Gotham is presented as an open world rather than a sequence of disconnected stages. Named locations include Arkham Asylum, Ace Chemicals, Gotham Botanical Gardens and Wayne Tower. The game combines fluid-combo combat with stealth, gadgets and vehicle traversal.

Combat, vehicles and the Batcave

  • Fluid-combo combat is designed around chaining attacks rather than relying only on single strikes.
  • Stealth and gadgets provide alternatives to direct fights.
  • Batmobiles and Batcycles are available for movement and missions.
  • The Batcave can be customized, giving the hub a progression and personalization role.

The official description also makes clear that the playable cast and Gotham locations are part of the game’s central design, not separate downloadable demonstrations.

  • Play as Batman, Robin or more than 12 dastardly villains -- all in super-fun LEGO form
  • Master special superhero power-suits and new moves, along with the weapons unique for each character
  • Build and drive Lego versions of favorite vehicles like the Batmobile, Batboat and the Batwing
  • Customize characters, build and transform game environments, and challenge yourself with multi-layered collectibles and rewards
  • Designed for standard two-player, drop-in/out cooperative play

Does it have co-op or require an internet connection?

Local couch co-op

Two players can play together locally on a supported console or PC setup. This is shared-screen or couch-style multiplayer rather than a remote online mode.

No online co-op

There is no online co-op. Buying the game on a platform with an online multiplayer subscription will not add a network campaign mode, so choose this game for solo play or in-person two-player sessions.

Playing offline

An internet connection is not required to play. Online access is needed for updates, so an offline installation may not include later patches or content changes until the system reconnects.

Standard Edition versus Deluxe Edition

Edition Included content Who should consider it
Standard Edition Base game Players who want the main campaign and core Gotham experience
Deluxe Edition Base game, Legacy Collection and Mayhem Collection Players who want the additional character-themed packs, mission and mode
Deluxe Edition Upgrade Separately purchasable upgrade for Standard owners Existing Standard owners who decide to add Deluxe content later

What is in the Legacy Collection?

The Legacy Collection contains the Arkham Trilogy pack, Batman Beyond pack and Party Music pack.

What is in the Mayhem Collection?

The Mayhem Collection adds a Joker and Harley Quinn story mission, Mayhem Mode and the Sinister Pack. These additions are separate from the base game’s campaign content and are the main reason to select Deluxe rather than Standard.

Because Standard owners can buy the Deluxe Edition Upgrade separately, you do not have to decide permanently at launch. Check the storefront’s regional pricing and upgrade terms before purchasing; the content distinction is fixed, but prices and availability can vary by region.

Physical LEGO sets with game unlocks

Warner Bros. Games identifies four physical LEGO DC Batman sets that include redeemable content for the game. The value of a set is therefore partly physical—the model itself—and partly the digital item attached to its code or redemption process.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
Physical set Advertised game content
LEGO DC Batman: Batman Logo Unlocks a gold Batsuit
LEGO DC Batman: Batman v Superman Batmobile Unlocks the film Batmobile and an exclusive gold variant
LEGO DC Batman: The Batman Batmobile Unlocks the film Batmobile and an exclusive gold variant
LEGO DC Batman: Batman & Robin Batmobile Unlocks the film Batmobile and an exclusive gold variant

The Batman Logo set is the clearest choice if your only goal is a named digital unlock, because the publisher explicitly pairs it with the gold Batsuit. Retail listings, stock, regional availability and prices can change, so verify the current listing and redemption details before buying a set for the game rather than for the physical build.

How to choose the right version

Choose a console version when

  • You already own a PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S or Nintendo Switch 2 and want a straightforward installation without checking PC components.
  • You plan to play local co-op from the same room.
  • You prefer a controller-based experience and do not need adjustable PC graphics settings.

Choose PC when

  • Your Windows 11 computer meets at least the published processor, graphics, memory and storage requirements.
  • You want to choose between Steam and the Epic Games Store.
  • You value the ability to adjust resolution and graphics settings, while accepting that no fixed FPS result is guaranteed by the requirements.

Choose Standard when

Choose Standard if the base story, open-world Gotham and core characters are all you need. It is also the lower-commitment option for players who are unsure about add-on content, since a Deluxe upgrade is available separately for Standard owners.

Choose Deluxe when

Choose Deluxe if you specifically want the Arkham Trilogy, Batman Beyond and Party Music packs, plus the Joker and Harley Quinn mission, Mayhem Mode and Sinister Pack. The edition also covered the announced May 19, 2026 early-access period, while the Standard Edition launched May 22.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Assuming original Switch support: the listed Nintendo platform is Switch 2, not the original Switch.
  • Expecting online campaign play: multiplayer is local two-player co-op only.
  • Reading “recommended” as a performance guarantee: no official FPS or resolution target is supplied for individual GPUs.
  • Confusing franchise sales with this game’s sales: the often-quoted figure of more than 200 million units worldwide refers to the broader TT Games LEGO franchise, not to Legacy of the Dark Knight alone.
  • Buying a physical set without checking redemption terms: confirm that the retailer listing is current, the set is sold in your region and the included digital content can be redeemed where you play.

Bottom line

LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is available on the current-generation PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2 consoles, plus Windows PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store. PC players need Windows 11, 16 GB of RAM and 50 GB of free storage, with a GTX 960/RX 6400/Arc A580-class GPU at minimum and an RTX 2070 SUPER/RX 6650 XT/Arc B580-class GPU recommended. The game supports solo play and two-player local co-op, not online co-op. Standard delivers the base game; Deluxe adds the Legacy and Mayhem collections and had the announced early-access period.
