LEGO and PlayStation’s “PLAY LIKE IT’S 1994” campaign promotes a LEGO replica of the original PlayStation—not a new working game console. Its film turns the console’s four controller symbols into a nostalgic scavenger hunt, then reveals the completed 1,911-piece build and its tactile details.
What happens in the “PLAY LIKE IT’S 1994” film?
The film opens with the familiar orchestral swell of the PlayStation startup audio, followed by a high-pitched beep and a rhythmic beat. Friends set out to gather the Triangle, Circle, X and Square components, moving through scenes of dancing, 1990s rave culture, screen printing, skateboarding and DJ-ing.

The fragments come together as a brick-built version of the original console. LBB describes the film as both a product demonstration and a celebration of PlayStation’s early years. A handheld-video-camera look reinforces the period feel, while a Gran Turismo mini track and an Ape Escape diorama connect the film’s nostalgia to details in the set.
What does the LEGO PlayStation set include?
The LEGO PlayStation Building Set for Adults is a display replica of the original console and controller. PlayStation lists 1,911 pieces and a console measuring over 10.5 inches (26 cm) wide. Its details include functional Open and Power buttons and a controller that plugs into the console. The set also contains removable, customizable Ape Escape and Gran Turismo dioramas that can be displayed separately. Interactive 3D building instructions are available through the LEGO Builder app.
