Leesa describes its feel as medium, but that is the company’s characterization—not a guarantee that it will feel medium to every sleeper. The mattress may suit shoppers seeking an all-foam design and a long trial; those deciding on comfort, cooling, or durability should treat the available claims cautiously because they have not been independently verified here.
What this review can—and cannot—establish
This is the Leesa Original, an all-foam model. Leesa also sells an Original Hybrid with a spring core, but the available product information does not support a performance head-to-head between the two. This review therefore focuses on the Original’s published construction, company-described feel, and purchase terms rather than presenting hands-on findings.

Comfort, cooling, pressure relief, and durability depend on the sleeper and conditions. Leesa makes claims about these areas, but the information available here does not independently establish how the mattress performs for different people over time.
How the Leesa Original is built
Leesa lists four layers and a total height of 10 inches. The standard cover is breathable knit fabric; an optional Cooling Quilt Top is also offered for the Original.
#1 Best Overall
- SUPPORT FOR ALL SLEEPERS: Meticulously designed with all sleep positions in mind (back, stomach, or side)
- TARGETED PRESSURE RELIEF: Premium all-foam mattress for cooling, contouring, and pressure relief— helps reduce lower back pain
- SOFT, STYLISH COVER: Featuring Leesa’s signature four-stripe design, this breathable, beautiful gray twill mattress cover has no tapered edges
- CRAFTED WITH CARE: Meticulously designed and assembled in the USA with high-quality materials
- BETTER SLEEP, BETTER WORLD: Leesa donates one mattress to nonprofits for every ten sold—because everyone deserves better sleep
- Cover: Standard breathable knit, listed as 87% polyester and 13% viscose. The optional Cooling Quilt Top is listed as 73% polyester, 25% polyethylene, and 2% spandex.
- Comfort layer: 2 inches of 3-pound GreenFlex BioFoam.
- Comfort layer: 2 inches of 3-pound memory foam.
- Base: 6 inches of support foam.
Leesa says its GreenFlex foam uses natural polyols from non-food crops and is certified under the USDA BioPreferred program. That is the manufacturer’s materials description, not an independent assessment of the mattress’s overall environmental impact.
Is the Leesa Original firm or soft?
Leesa calls the mattress medium. The company says that, based on its customer surveys, 76% of customers reported a medium feel. The page does not state the survey date, sample size, or method, so the figure should be read as Leesa’s customer-survey result—not an independent rating or a prediction of how it will feel to you.

- SIMPLE TO SET UP - Just move the box to the room you want to use it in, unbox and unroll your mattress, and watch it expand before your eyes. Your Nectar will be snooze ready in 24 hours!
- THE NECTAR SLEEP SYSTEM - Introducing our signature combination of fabrics and foams that makes up the top three layers of every Nectar mattress. We combine breathable cooling fabric, contouring memory foam, and dynamic support foam to deliver the most restful and rejuvenating sleep you’ll ever experience.
- PERFECT SUPPORT FOR ANY POSITION - Whether you're a side sleeper, back sleeper, stomach sleeper, or somewhere in between, Nectar offers the optimal level of firmness, coolness, breathability, and comfort.
- FIRM WITH A TOUCH OF COMFORT - We consider the Nectar Classic to be firm, giving you solid support with a bit more cradling than an extra-firm mattress. Firm mattresses are great for stomach sleepers and those with back pain.
- RELIVIEVES BACK PAIN - Contouring memory foam layer relieves pressure and reduces stress on high-tension areas like your hips and back, and adaptive support layer promotes proper spinal alignment for long-term comfort and wellbeing
Its two foam comfort layers provide a different construction from a mattress with a spring core, but the listed materials alone cannot establish an individual sleeper’s firmness impression, pressure relief, or preferred level of sink. Leesa also displays a quotation attributed to The New York Times Wirecutter describing the Original as a “Goldilocks foam mattress—not too firm, not too sinky.” This is a vendor-displayed quotation; it is not an independent test result presented here.

Motion isolation, pressure relief, and temperature
Movement between sleepers
Leesa’s product page displays a motion-transfer statement attributed to Naplab: “The Leesa has extremely low motion transfer. In fact, it’s among lowest motion transfer we’ve tested to date over the years.” This is a lab-attributed statement shown by the seller; the full test methodology and context have not been independently reviewed here. It can inform a shopper’s questions, but it is not a guarantee that a partner’s movement will go unnoticed.

Pressure relief and support
Leesa markets the foam layers as pressure-relieving and says the mattress supports all body types and sleeping positions. Those are company claims, not established outcomes for every body or sleep position. If pressure points or support are a concern, the trial terms may give an eligible buyer time to assess the mattress at home.
Sleeping cool
Leesa says the foam is designed to keep sleepers cool and offers a Cooling Quilt Top as an upgrade. The available product information does not demonstrate that the mattress sleeps cool for all users. Hot sleepers should weigh the all-foam construction and cover choice carefully rather than treating “cooling” as a guaranteed result.

Eligible customers can initiate a return from night 31 through night 365. The limit is the first two mattress purchases per household and shipping/billing address.

What the Leesa warranty covers
For mattresses purchased after February 1, 2025, Leesa’s policy describes a limited lifetime warranty for the original purchaser in the United States, excluding U.S. territories, or Canada, when bought from Leesa or an authorized retailer. The warranty is not transferable. Covered-defect repair or replacement is non-prorated at no cost during years 1–10; from year 11 onward, the policy lists prorated replacement charges based on the then-current retail price.
| Warranty period | Listed prorated replacement charge |
|---|---|
| Years 1–10 | No cost for covered-defect repair or replacement |
| Years 11–15 | 50% of then-current retail price |
| Years 16–20 | 60% of then-current retail price |
| Year 21 onward | 75% of then-current retail price |
These terms remain subject to the policy’s exclusions and documentation requirements. Leesa says removing the mattress cover voids a warranty claim. Purchases made before February 1, 2025 are governed by the terms applicable when purchased, so the current warranty description should not be assumed to apply to an older mattress.

The Original is most relevant to shoppers who specifically want an all-foam mattress with a medium feel as described by its manufacturer, multiple foam comfort layers, and a 365-night trial subject to eligibility and return terms. It is less straightforward for someone who needs independently established cooling or comfort performance, or who has already decided that a spring-core mattress better fits their preferences.
Leesa lists an Original Hybrid as a separate spring-core option, but the available information does not establish a fair performance comparison on feel, bounce, motion isolation, heat, edge support, weight, or price. Compare current details for the same size before choosing between them. Prices and discounts vary by size and promotion, so check the live price rather than relying on a previously displayed sale.
