Do not install the newest Forge build or a different Minecraft profile simply because it has a similar number. A 1.20.1 Forge pack is not interchangeable with a Fabric profile, a newer Minecraft release, or an older pack revision. When troubleshooting, check the exact release number before changing anything else.

What you play: the main systems
Quest and story progression
Quests provide the intended route through the world rather than leaving you to assemble a progression order from random recipes. The pack also includes a written storyline, so read quest descriptions and narrative text instead of treating objectives as disposable checklists. Rewards and descriptions were substantially revised in version 4.2, which means screenshots or instructions written for an earlier build can show different wording, textures or payouts.
Hunting the Mimic’s Eyes
The central objective is to hunt powerful beings that guard the Eyes. This gives exploration a purpose: structures, unfamiliar regions and dangerous encounters are part of a search for progression items, not merely scenery. Keep track of which quest points you have completed and which Eye-related objective is active before leaving an area.
Combat and animation
Combat is enhanced with Epic Fight-related additions and improved animations. Expect timing, positioning and weapon handling to matter more than in an unmodified Minecraft world. The pack also added weapon leveling to most weapons in version 4.2, so a weapon can become part of your progression instead of being replaced immediately by a marginally stronger item.
World generation and structures
Overhauled world generation, improved structures and quest-giving NPCs make travel and settlement discovery important. Version 4.2 added further structures and NPCs, so older maps or guide videos may not match the current arrangement. Generate a new world for a clean playthrough; changing generation-heavy content on an established save can produce uneven borders or missing features.

Dragons, mounts and visual upgrades
Aquamarie and Saint’s Dragons received new dragons, armor and tools in the 4.2 update. The same update introduced a mount-summon feature, giving you another way to approach long-distance travel. The pack also advertises upgraded textures, sounds and visuals, so the presentation is intentionally more demanding than a vanilla installation.
Boss encounters and cutscenes
Multiple boss fights are built around cinematic cutscenes. Prepare before starting a major encounter: bring the equipment your current quests support, clear your inventory for rewards, and make a backup of the world. A cutscene or boss trigger can move the story forward, so avoid starting one while another player is still sorting storage or exploring far away.

The safest installation is a fresh profile for the exact 4.5 release. Do not copy individual mods into a vanilla folder; the pack’s configuration, dependencies and scripts are designed to work as a set.
- Install a launcher that supports CurseForge modpacks. Sign in if the launcher requires an account, and let it install or select the Java runtime it recommends for Minecraft 1.20.1.
- Open the modpack browser and search the exact project name. Use “Lees Fantasy – Chronicles of the Mimic” and verify that the author is adriiann_lee. Similar fantasy packs are not interchangeable.
- Select the file marked Lee´s Fantasy RPG 4.5. Confirm that the profile says Minecraft 1.20.1 and Forge before pressing Install. The official listing dates this release to September 13, 2026.
- Install into a new profile. A separate instance prevents unrelated mods, shaders or configuration files from contaminating the pack. If your launcher offers an instance-folder choice, use a folder dedicated to this pack.
- Allow every mod and configuration file to finish downloading. Do not launch while the launcher still reports pending files. A partial download can look like a Forge crash even though the real problem is a missing archive.
- Start the profile once without extra additions. The first launch may take longer while Forge builds caches. Do not add shaders, performance mods or resource packs until the unmodified pack reaches the title screen.
- Open the quest interface before creating a long-term world. Confirm that quests, story text and the pack’s menus load correctly. If the interface is missing, close the game and repair or reinstall the profile rather than beginning a save with an incomplete installation.
Use the launcher’s repair or reinstall option if a download is interrupted. Reinstalling the profile is usually faster and more reliable than manually replacing one suspected mod, because a single wrong version can create a chain of dependency errors.

Memory, performance and first-launch troubleshooting
No official minimum hardware specification or benchmark is published for this pack. The advertised 220-plus-mod load means it will require more memory and startup time than vanilla Minecraft, but there is no verified number that can be presented as a universal minimum.
- Start with the launcher’s recommended memory allocation rather than copying a value from another pack. Increase it only if the game consistently reports out-of-memory errors and your computer has unused RAM.
- Close other heavy applications during the first launch. A long “not responding” period can be Forge processing files rather than a permanent crash; check whether CPU or disk activity continues before force-quitting.
- Test with the pack’s default graphics settings. Add a resource pack or shader only after you have confirmed a stable unmodified session.
- If the game crashes before the menu, verify the profile is Forge 1.20.1 and that no Fabric instance or manually installed mod is being used.
- If a world loads but textures are missing, repair the profile so the launcher redownloads assets. Do not download random replacement files from third-party mirrors.
- If a save began on an older release, duplicate the world folder before opening it in 4.5. A backup lets you return to the prior state if a quest, structure or generation change behaves unexpectedly.

Read the first objectives
Open the quest book as soon as the world loads and read the descriptions in order. The storyline is part of the progression system; skipping text can leave you unsure whether a boss, structure or NPC is the next intended destination.

Enhanced structures and dangerous encounters make a temporary shelter useful even if you plan to move later. Store spare food, tools and quest rewards before scouting. Mark the route to a quest-giving NPC or important structure so a death does not turn the next objective into a blind search.
Treat weapons as progression items
Because most weapons can be leveled, keep a reliable weapon long enough to benefit from its progression rather than discarding it for every small upgrade. Compare the weapon’s level and handling with the raw damage shown on a new item; the strongest-looking tooltip is not automatically the best choice for your play style.

Use mounts deliberately
The mount-summon feature added in version 4.2 is useful for scouting and returning to distant objectives. Summon before a long trip, but still carry emergency supplies: a mount does not replace preparation for a boss or a hazardous structure.

When a quest points toward a powerful being, finish nearby errands first, empty unnecessary inventory slots and create a world backup. Boss rewards and cutscenes can advance several quest steps, and being prepared prevents a successful fight from becoming a recovery exercise.

The project publishes a dedicated Lee´s Fantasy RPG 4.5 Server Pack.zip for the same Minecraft 1.20.1 Forge line. That distribution is the correct starting point for a self-hosted multiplayer world; a normal client profile is not a substitute for server files.
- Download the server ZIP that matches the client release. For a 4.5 world, use the 4.5 server pack. Do not mix a 4.2 server with 4.5 clients or vice versa.
- Extract it into a new, dedicated server folder. Keep the folder separate from your client instance and from other Minecraft servers so configuration files cannot be overwritten.
- Run the included Forge setup or start script. Follow the files supplied with the ZIP; they contain the server launch command and any setup notes for that distribution. If the first run creates an EULA file, read and accept Minecraft’s EULA before starting again.
- Start the server once with no players connected. Wait for the console to report that the server has finished loading, then stop it cleanly. This creates the world and lets you inspect configuration files before inviting friends.
- Install the matching client profile for every player. Each player needs Minecraft 1.20.1, Forge and the same 4.5 modpack release. A different client revision can fail during the handshake or produce missing-content errors.
- Share the server address securely. Players on the same network can use the host’s local address; internet players need a reachable address and whatever network configuration your setup requires. Do not publish administrative credentials or the server’s operator information.
- Back up the world and server configuration. Stop the server before copying the world folder. Keep a dated backup before major updates, boss encounters or changes to generation-related settings.
The official material confirms the matching server ZIP but does not specify a hosting provider, price or hardware requirement. You can run it on your own machine or choose a provider independently; whichever method you use, version alignment remains the critical compatibility rule.

Version 4.2 changes that affect older guides
Version 4.2 is worth understanding because many screenshots and walkthroughs may predate it. Its changes included:
- A broad quest overhaul with new descriptions, rewards and textures.
- A mount-summon feature.
- New dragons, armor and tools for Aquamarie and Saint’s Dragons.
- Additional structures and quest-giving NPCs.
- Weapon leveling for most weapons.
- General fixes and gameplay tweaks.
If an older guide tells you to find a quest at a location that no longer matches, first check the current quest text and NPC placement in your 4.5 instance. Do not assume your installation is broken solely because an old video uses a different interface or reward.
