Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman said he expected Apple to introduce its first touchscreen MacBook Pro in fall 2026, potentially as early as October, with a possible slip to November. Apple has not confirmed the product or a launch date.
When could the touchscreen MacBook arrive?
In a report published October 1, 2026, MacRumors quoted Gurman saying on his Power On podcast: “Apple, I believe, will introduce its first touchscreen MacBook Pro this fall, as early as October,” and, “It could slip to November, but as early as October.” The report therefore points to an October-or-November introduction window, not a definite November release. The phrase “next month” comes from the October context surrounding the claim. It should not be read as an official Apple schedule or as a guarantee that the laptop will be available to buy in November.
What is reportedly coming?
The report describes 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models with OLED displays and touch input. Those details, like the timing, are attributed to reporting rather than confirmed Apple specifications. A June MacRumors article also reported that leaker Instant Digital called a touchscreen MacBook “100% confirmed,” but that was the leaker’s confidence—not confirmation from Apple. Earlier forecasts cited in that coverage ranged from late 2026 to early 2027. MacRumors’ June report

Reports have also mentioned a thinner design and a Dynamic Island-style camera treatment, but neither is confirmed. Chip predictions have shifted, so no specific processor should be treated as established. The laptop could keep the MacBook Pro name or receive a different name; “MacBook Ultra” is speculation, not a confirmed product label. October timing report and MacRumors on possible branding
Should you buy a MacBook Pro now or wait?
That depends on whether you need a laptop now or can comfortably wait for an unannounced product. Apple’s current MacBook Pro lineup is documented on its official MacBook Pro page; it is a confirmed product family, not the rumored touchscreen model.

| Consideration | Current MacBook Pro | Rumored touchscreen model |
|---|---|---|
| Availability | Current lineup documented by Apple; availability and configurations are shown on Apple’s product page. | Not confirmed by Apple; Gurman’s reported introduction window is October or November 2026. |
| Display and input | Refer to Apple’s current product specifications for the models available. | OLED touchscreen is reported, but unconfirmed. |
| Design and branding | Refer to Apple’s current product information. | A thinner design and Dynamic Island-style camera treatment have been reported but remain uncertain; branding is also unsettled. |
If your current computer is limiting work or study, compare the available models and specifications rather than postponing a needed purchase for a rumor. If touch input or an OLED display is important to your next laptop, waiting for Apple to make a formal announcement may help—but the timing and final configuration are not assured.
Has Apple confirmed a touchscreen MacBook?
No Apple confirmation appears in the cited reports. Gurman’s October statement is an attributed expectation, while the June “100% confirmed” wording belongs to leaker Instant Digital. Until Apple announces a model, its release date, name, display, and other specifications remain unconfirmed.
