If adding role-specific League of Legends guides made your site feel disconnected, check the links and paths before changing the content structure. Make sure readers can reach each important guide from a relevant hub, that each guide links back where it should, and that links still resolve correctly from nested URLs. There is no required hub-and-spoke or silo layout; the goal is a clear, working route through the pages.
Start by mapping the pages you want readers to find
Write down the intended path from the site’s main guide area to a role guide and then to any related guides. For example, a site might use a League of Legends guide landing page, role hubs such as top, jungle, mid, bot, and support, and individual guides beneath them. Those are possible categories, not a required taxonomy. Use the categories that fit your actual content.

Draw the relationships before editing templates: which page introduces the guide collection, which pages group guides, and which guides naturally refer readers to one another? A logical structure should be understandable to people, not just reflected in URL folders. Google recommends logical site organization and relevant links to important pages, but does not prescribe a specific game-guide hierarchy (Google Search Central: Sitelinks).

Check that every important guide is reachable
Start from the homepage or the most relevant guide landing page and follow visible links to each new guide. Then open each role guide and check that it links back to its hub or parent page where that would help a reader. Add contextual links to related material when they genuinely help someone continue; do not add links simply to connect every page to every other page.

Google’s guidance is direct: “Every page you care about should have a link from at least one other page on your site.” A page that exists at a known URL but has no incoming internal link is harder for readers to discover through the site, and may be harder for Google to find as well (Google Search Central: Link best practices for Google).
Confirm the links are real destinations, not just clickable-looking controls
Inspect the rendered navigation and guide links. For a standard crawlable link, Google recommends an HTML anchor element with an href destination. A control that responds only to a script event, or an anchor without an href, may look interactive without providing an ordinary link destination for a crawler.

For example, a link to a real guide should render in the equivalent of <a href="/lol/guides/jungle-pathing/">Jungle pathing guide</a>. Verify that the destination is the intended page and that clicking it works in the browser. The exact path should match your site’s routing.

Read each link label without relying on the surrounding layout. Labels such as “Jungle pathing guide” or “Support warding guide” are useful only when they accurately describe their destinations. Repeated “read more” labels provide little context when separated from nearby text, while keyword-stuffed labels can feel unnatural.

Google recommends anchor text that is concise, descriptive, relevant, and natural, with surrounding text that helps explain the destination. It also says there is no magical ideal number of links on a page; prioritize useful connections over a target count (Google Search Central: Link best practices for Google).
Test links from the URLs where they actually appear
A relative path can resolve differently depending on the current page’s URL. A link that works from a top-level page may point somewhere else when used in a guide several directories deep. From each affected page, follow the link and check the actual destination URL in the browser.

For example, if a nested page uses a parent-relative path such as ../guides/, check how the browser resolves it from that page’s location. Google documents a case where a misplaced parent-relative link produces an unintended URL and describes a root-relative path as one way to avoid that class of problem. A root-relative path such as /lol/guides/ starts from the site’s root, but use it only if that matches your routing and deployment setup (Google Search Central: URL structure).

Use navigation and URLs to clarify, not substitute for, page links
Clear navigation can help readers and search engines understand how pages relate. Google’s example of menu-to-category-to-subcategory navigation is written for ecommerce; for a game-guide site, the transferable idea is that important pages should be connected by understandable links, not hidden behind a search box or an unclear route. It is not a requirement to copy an ecommerce hierarchy (Google Search Central: Help Google understand your ecommerce site structure).
Keep URLs readable and stable where practical, and use paths that make sense for the content. But folders in a URL do not by themselves create a usable site structure: readers still need working links and useful navigation to move between pages (Google Search Central: URL structure). Links also connect users and search engines to other pages and can provide context about their destinations (Google Search Central: SEO Starter Guide).
A practical repair checklist
- Map the intended hierarchy. Identify the main LoL guide landing page, any role hubs, and the individual guides that belong under them.
- Trace reachability. Starting from the homepage or relevant guide hub, follow visible links to each important new guide; from each guide, check for a useful route back to its parent or hub.
- Inspect rendered markup. Confirm navigation and guide links use ordinary anchors with valid
hrefdestinations. - Review labels in isolation. Make sure each link gives a concise, accurate preview of its destination.
- Test nested pages. Follow links from the actual guide URLs and check whether relative paths resolve to the intended destination.
- Check URL clarity and stability. Make paths readable where practical, while relying on links and navigation—not folders alone—to express relationships.
If the problem persists, record the affected guide URLs, one example of a broken link, and the relevant navigation or template code. Without those site-specific details, it is not possible to tell whether the cause is an omitted link, a bad relative path, or a routing issue. Google’s guidance supports reachable pages and coherent contextual links; it does not establish that role-specific guides themselves harm SEO or that one fixed hierarchy is mandatory.
