What does the lawsuit allege?
The plaintiff is Washington consumer Michael Camilleri. In Camilleri v. Meta Platforms Inc., No. 2:26-cv-03300, filed in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington, he reportedly seeks to represent Washington residents who received Meta promotional emails advertising time-limited sales. The allegations are described in reports by Shopifreaks and Top Class Actions.

The reported example is a May 25, 2026 email to Camilleri and other Washington residents with the subject line “Ends today: AI glasses from $224.” According to the reports’ descriptions of the complaint, the email advertised discounts of up to 25% on Meta AI glasses.

Some pairs were reportedly still presented as 25% off a $299 regular price. His lawyers reportedly said they audited the website and found the offer available on all 33 days they checked. That account is an allegation attributed to the complaint and counsel; it is not an independently verified audit or a court finding.

Why does the plaintiff say the emails were unlawful?
Top Class Actions reports that Camilleri’s complaint invokes Washington’s Commercial Electronic Mail Act and Consumer Protection Act. The central claim, as reported, is that subject lines such as “Ends today,” “Last-chance” and “ends soon” created urgency by suggesting a sale deadline that the plaintiff alleges was not genuine because the discounts continued afterward.
That is the plaintiff’s legal theory, not a conclusion that the email wording violated either statute. The available reports do not establish how Meta has responded or how a court would evaluate the claims.

What is the lawsuit seeking?
According to Top Class Actions’ summary of the complaint, Camilleri seeks actual or statutory damages and says the proposed class includes at least thousands of potential members. The report describes a request for $100 in statutory damages per allegedly unlawful email. That amount is a claimed remedy, not a payment ordered by a court; the available reporting establishes no award.

A separate matter, In re Meta AI Glasses Litigation, No. 26-cv-01897-EMC, is pending in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California. A September 24, 2026 order in that case set an initial case management conference for October 13, 2026, according to the order. It is not procedural activity in Camilleri’s Washington lawsuit.
