For October 2026, invest first in Ulfrid (Brian), Marlena, and Arthur. Pocket Gamer’s latest standard ranking places all three in S tier: Arthur is the strongest tank, Marlena is a high-damage Warrior carry, and Ulfrid (Brian) is a Warlock tank. Bella and Grenwald are practical substitutes when Arthur or Marlena is unavailable. This ranking was updated September 16, 2026, for version 1.0.63, so treat it as a patch-specific guide rather than a permanent power order.
Last Asylum: Plague launched in March 2026, with 37Games credited as developer by the secondary source GamsGo. Jack Brassell of Pocket Gamer sums up the premise: “It’s up to you to rebuild your town and cure its inhabitants in Last Asylum: Plague.”

October 2026 tier list at a glance
The table below reports Pocket Gamer’s placements, not a new independent ranking. Its tier article is dated September 16, 2026 and labeled version 1.0.63.
| Placement | Hero | Known role or distinction | How to use the result |
|---|---|---|---|
| S | Arthur | Strongest tank in the ranking | Make Arthur your first defensive investment when available. |
| S | Marlena | High-damage Warrior carry | Build around Marlena as a primary damage dealer. |
| S | Ulfrid (Brian) | Warlock tank | Use Ulfrid for durable frontline coverage and team synergy. |
| Substitute | Bella | Useful when Arthur or Marlena is unavailable | Use her to keep a developing roster functional rather than waiting for a perfect pull. |
| Substitute | Grenwald | Useful when Arthur or Marlena is unavailable | Consider Grenwald when your account lacks one of the S-tier options. |
| Lowest SSR in this list | Ash | Lowest-ranked SSR | Do not spend scarce materials on Ash ahead of the S-tier core unless your roster leaves no alternative. |
| C | Durant, Robin, William, Kafa | SR heroes | Use them as interim options; their C-tier placement makes them poor long-term priorities when stronger heroes are available. |
Why Arthur, Marlena, and Ulfrid (Brian) form the practical core
Arthur: the defensive anchor
Pocket Gamer identifies Arthur as the strongest tank in its version 1.0.63 ranking. That makes him the clearest first choice for players who need a reliable frontline before spending heavily on damage or utility upgrades.

Marlena: the damage priority
Marlena is ranked as a high-damage Warrior carry. If she is in your roster, she gives the team a defined source of offensive pressure; protect that investment with a durable frontline and support choices that fit the mode you are playing.
Ulfrid (Brian): a second durable option
Ulfrid (Brian) is listed as a Warlock tank and is also in S tier. His value is not simply his rarity: he fills a tanking function that can improve survivability when the rest of the squad cannot withstand a battle’s incoming damage.
Rank #2

Substitutions and lower-priority heroes
Bella and Grenwald
Bella and Grenwald are the recommended practical substitutes when Arthur or Marlena is unavailable. The ranking does not establish that either is a universal replacement in every game mode, so choose between them by checking which role your five-hero squad is missing and which one you can upgrade consistently.

Ash is the lowest-ranked SSR in Pocket Gamer’s list. SSR rarity alone therefore does not justify spending your best materials on Ash; the guide’s placement is a warning to compare actual performance and roster fit instead.
Rank #3

Durant, Robin, William, and Kafa
These four SR heroes are placed in C tier. They can bridge an early roster gap, but they are weak long-term investments if an S-tier hero or a stated substitute is available.
How to choose the best five-hero squad
A tier list answers “which hero is strongest in isolation?” It does not automatically answer “which team wins with the heroes I own?” Compare every candidate on the following axes:

- Please Note: To reach 10Gbps speed, keep the cable under 3.3 ft. For USB A Male to USB C adapters, try flipping the USB C connector. USB C Male to USB A adapters support bidirectional 10Gbps transfer within 3.3 ft
- Role fit: cover tanking and damage before adding a duplicate role.
- Damage and survivability: a high-damage hero that dies early may contribute less than a slightly weaker carry that survives the full fight.
- Utility: shields, healing, and debuffs can matter as much as raw damage in a difficult mode.
- Synergy: evaluate how the five heroes operate together, not just each hero’s individual tier.
- Target mode: a squad that excels in one activity may not be the best choice elsewhere.
- Rarity and shard access: account for how reliably you can obtain and upgrade a hero.
- Upgrade cost: scarce materials should follow the heroes you can keep in your final lineup.
The Last Asylum Wiki uses two different measures that are easy to confuse. Its standalone list is based on maximum Might, while its squad page models five-hero teams over a 30-second reference fight using survivability and damage per second. The squad model ranks 169,911 possible five-hero combinations. Use Might to compare theoretical individual ceiling; use the squad model and your own battle results to choose a team.
- Lock in Arthur if you have him; otherwise test Bella or Grenwald as the available substitute.
- Add Marlena as your main damage investment when she is available.
- Use Ulfrid (Brian) when you need another durable option or his Warlock-tank profile fits the encounter.
- Fill the remaining two places by correcting your roster’s largest weakness—survivability, damage, or utility—rather than chasing rarity.
- Recheck the lineup after upgrades and in the specific mode where you are losing; a five-hero result is more meaningful than a single Might number.
UR heroes, purchases, and free-to-play access
Shadow and Cynthia are premium UR heroes and were excluded from Pocket Gamer’s standard tier ranking because obtaining them requires a purchase. That exclusion describes acquisition, not combat strength: whether a hero is paid and whether a hero performs well are separate questions.
Best Value
- 5-in-1 Connectivity: Equipped with a 4K HDMI port, a 5 Gbps USB-C data port, two 5 Gbps USB-A ports, and a USB C 100W PD-IN port. Note: The USB C 100W PD-IN port supports only charging and does not support data transfer devices such as headphones or speakers.
- Powerful Pass-Through Charging: Supports up to 85W pass-through charging so you can power up your laptop while you use the hub. Note: Pass-through charging requires a charger (not included). Note: To achieve full power for iPad, we recommend using a 45W wall charger.
- Transfer Files in Seconds: Move files to and from your laptop at speeds of up to 5 Gbps via the USB-C and USB-A data ports. Note: The USB C 5Gbps Data port does not support video output.
- HD Display: Connect to the HDMI port to stream or mirror content to an external monitor in resolutions of up to 4K@30Hz. Note: The USB-C ports do not support video output.
- What You Get: Anker 332 USB-C Hub (5-in-1), welcome guide, our worry-free 18-month warranty, and friendly customer service.
Free-to-play players are not locked out of UR progress. Pocket Gamer’s best-team guide, updated October 5, 2026 for version 1.0.65, says UR shards can be obtained through the Alliance Shop, quests, and events. Shard availability still depends on the event or shop rotation, so plan around the heroes you can actually obtain rather than assuming an immediate full unlock.
For scale, the Last Asylum Wiki recorded 1,075,906 maximum Might for Shadow at the opening of Tier S. That figure was checked August 31, 2026 on version 1.0.87 and is a maximum-Might data point, not proof that Shadow belongs in every five-hero team or that a purchase is necessary to progress.
How much should you invest?
Prioritize materials in this order: the tank that keeps your squad alive, the carry that supplies dependable damage, then the utility or replacement hero that completes your target-mode lineup. Keep a reserve for heroes whose shards you can obtain regularly. A lower-rarity hero with reliable shards and a clear role can outperform a rarer hero left underdeveloped.
Recommended Free Tools
Do not dismantle a working team solely because a new tier list changes. First check the patch label, then compare your actual five-hero survivability and damage. Replace a hero when the new option can be upgraded to a similar level and solves a demonstrated weakness.
Version and freshness notes
This list is time-sensitive. Pocket Gamer’s tier placements come from version 1.0.63 (updated September 16, 2026); its free-to-play UR-shard information comes from the version 1.0.65 best-team guide (updated October 5, 2026). The Wiki’s maximum-Might and squad figures were checked on version 1.0.87 on August 31, 2026. Because these sources describe different versions and different measurements, check the in-game patch notes before committing a large stockpile of upgrade materials.
