Gizmodo reported the grey KYY 15.6-inch portable monitor with cover at $59.49 on Amazon on October 5, 2026, down from $69.99. That is a dated deal, not a confirmed current price: check the Amazon listing and deal coverage for today’s price, stock, seller, and return terms before buying.
What the KYY portable monitor offers
TechRadar identifies this model as the KYY K3. It is a basic 15.6-inch Full HD (1920 × 1080) IPS display intended to add screen space to a laptop or another compatible device. Its resolution and size suit documents, browser windows, video calls, travel, and casual console play; it is not a higher-resolution replacement for a desktop monitor.

Gizmodo reports 178-degree viewing angles, a 0.3-inch profile, and a weight of 1.7 pounds; TechRadar puts the weight at about 1.8 pounds. The small difference reflects the sources’ reported figures, so expect a monitor weighing about 1.7–1.8 pounds rather than relying on a more exact number. Both sources describe a magnetic cover that protects the panel and folds into a stand. Gizmodo says it has two grooves, giving you two stand positions rather than a wide range of adjustments.

It has two full-function USB-C ports and one Mini-HDMI input, according to Gizmodo and TechRadar. A single USB-C cable can carry video and power only when the connected device’s USB-C port supports video output. A USB-C connector by itself does not guarantee that capability. Gizmodo cites Thunderbolt 3 or USB-C 3.1 support, but device implementations vary; check the specifications for your particular laptop, phone, or tablet and the cable you plan to use.

If your device cannot send video over USB-C, the monitor’s Mini-HDMI input is an alternative when the source has a compatible video output and cable. The display has no built-in battery, so it still needs power separately. Gizmodo lists laptops, PCs, smartphones, PS4, and Xbox among device categories, but actual compatibility depends on the specific device, its video output, and the connection used.
What the reported specs mean in practice
TechRadar reports a 1000:1 contrast ratio and measured color coverage of 64% sRGB and 49% AdobeRGB and P3 in its coverage of the KYY K3. Those color-coverage figures make it a poor fit for color-critical photo or video work, where accurate, broad color reproduction matters. It is better framed as an inexpensive extra screen for everyday tasks than as a creative reference display.

Gizmodo’s October 5 article showed an Amazon rating of 4.4 out of 5 from more than 13,200 ratings. Marketplace scores and counts can change, and they are not a substitute for hands-on testing. In TechRadar’s KYY K3 coverage, Bryan M. Wolfe wrote that “it’s lightweight, and it does everything a basic 1080p portable monitor should do. Considering the outrageously cheap price, there’s a lot to like – and a lot of flaws I’m willing to look past.” That assessment captures the trade-off: low-cost basic utility, with limits that matter for some buyers.
