The Kyocera ECOSYS PA4000wx is a print-only monochrome laser printer built for small offices and home offices that need wired or wireless networking and fast black-and-white output. Kyocera rates it at up to 42 pages per minute on Letter paper and includes automatic duplex printing. It is a less suitable fit if you need color, scanning or copying, or if you want an independently tested account of print quality and real-world speed: the available performance figures are manufacturer specifications, not independent test results.
What the PA4000wx does—and what it does not
The PA4000wx is a business-oriented, black-and-white printer, not an all-in-one. It prints but does not scan, copy, or fax. If you regularly digitize documents or need color output, a multifunction or color model will fit better. Kyocera’s US product page describes the model and its consumables.

The printer supports Hi-Speed USB and gigabit Ethernet, with wireless LAN on the PA4000wx wireless model. Kyocera’s 2024 announcement describes a five-line LCD and wireless connectivity. The operation guide lists PCL6, KPDL3 (PostScript 3 compatible), XPS, OpenXPS, and PDF emulations. It lists Windows 10 and 11, Windows Server 2016, 2019, and 2022, and Mac OS X 10.9 or later; Kyocera’s announcement also says the range is compatible with Chrome OS. Confirm current driver availability for your exact operating system and version on the PA4000wx support and downloads page, since support can change.
How fast is it?
Kyocera’s US specification guide rates Letter printing at up to 42 pages per minute (ppm), duplex printing at 21 ppm, and Legal printing at 34 ppm. The 2025 operation guide specifies up to 40 sheets per minute on A4 and a first print in 6.4 seconds or less from the cassette. These are manufacturer-rated figures; they do not establish the speed you will see with your documents, network, settings, or printer condition.

Kyocera lists a resolution of 600 × 600 dpi, up to Fine 1200 dpi. The documentation provides specifications, not independent assessments of text, graphics, photo output, noise, or reliability. Treat the speed and resolution figures as a basis for comparison, not a substitute for testing in your own workflow.
Paper handling, duplexing, and space
Automatic duplex printing is standard. The listed US configuration has a 250-sheet cassette and a 100-sheet multipurpose tray. The operation guide documents optional extra paper-feeder capacity, but check the current listing for the exact compatible accessory before purchasing one.

The printer measures approximately 14.8 × 15.5 × 10.7 inches (375 × 393 × 272 mm). Kyocera gives its weight as 14 kg without the toner container. Allow extra room for access to the paper trays and toner, and check the dimensions of the specific regional configuration or bundle you plan to buy.

PA4000wx toner: included cartridge versus replacement
For the US model, Kyocera identifies the replacement cartridge as TK-1262 and rates its yield at up to 10,000 pages under ISO 19752. The toner cartridge included with the printer is rated at 3,600 sheets in the operation guide. Those are different figures for different cartridges: do not assume the included cartridge will deliver the replacement cartridge’s stated yield. Kyocera notes that actual pages depend on print data and toner usage.
Part numbers and yields vary by region. The operation guide identifies TK-1264 for Oceania and TK-1265 or TK-1267 for Asia, with different stated yields. Check the cartridge code for your country before ordering; the US TK-1262 specification does not apply worldwide.

No current region-specific toner price is established here, so a cost-per-page figure would be misleading. To estimate your own supply cost, divide the local price of the correct replacement cartridge by its stated yield, then account for your coverage and printing habits. That estimate is not a guarantee of actual yield.
Kyocera recommends using a genuine toner container and warns that a non-genuine one may cause image defects or product failure. This is the manufacturer’s guidance, not an independently demonstrated outcome. The 2025 operation guide describes toner replacement, and the support page lists a toner installation guide.

Who should consider the Kyocera ECOSYS PA4000wx?
- A good match: a small office or home office that mainly prints black-and-white documents, wants wired networking or Wi-Fi, and values automatic duplexing and a manufacturer-rated high print speed.
- Consider another type of printer: you need color, scanning, copying, or faxing, or your workflow depends on independently verified output quality, speed, or reliability.
- Check before buying: the exact regional model, operating-system driver support, compatible paper-feeder option, and local replacement-toner code and price.
Kyocera’s PA4000wx specification guide and 2024 product announcement are manufacturer sources.
