The KTC M27P6S combines a glossy 27-inch 4K 160Hz display with a 2,304-zone Mini LED backlight and a 1080p 320Hz alternate mode. DisplayNinja’s review found it delivers very high HDR brightness and restrained blooming in many scenes, but the faster mode looks soft at this size, HDR color needs refinement, and local dimming brings some latency and transition flicker. It is best suited to players who value a glossy, high-impact HDR image and genuinely want both refresh-rate modes—not buyers expecting OLED-like blacks or a free resolution switch.

What the KTC M27P6S offers

KTC specifies a 27-inch Fast IPS panel with native 3840×2160 resolution, a Mini LED full-array local-dimming backlight with 2,304 zones, and two operating modes: 4K at up to 160Hz or 1080p at up to 320Hz. The screen has a glossy “Obsidian” surface. KTC lists 8-bit plus FRC color, 99% DCI-P3, 99% sRGB, 97% Adobe RGB and 1,400 cd/m² HDR brightness. Those are manufacturer specifications; measured review results differ in some areas. KTC’s product page has the full specification listing.

DisplayNinja describes the monitor as DisplayHDR 1400 and reports USB-C with 65W power delivery and a built-in KVM. KTC lists two HDMI 2.1 ports, one DisplayPort 1.4, three USB 3.0 ports, USB-C and a headphone output. The stand supports height, tilt, swivel and pivot adjustment. The independent review tested firmware USA-1.0.1; it does not establish whether later firmware has changed the behavior discussed below. DisplayNinja’s review was published September 29, 2026.

Does the 1080p 320Hz mode make sense?

It is a real trade-off: 4K 160Hz prioritizes detail, while 1080p 320Hz prioritizes refresh rate. The 320Hz mode is not a sharper, faster version of native 4K. At 27 inches, 1080p is below the panel’s native resolution, and DisplayNinja reports visible softness because the monitor interpolates the lower-resolution image rather than using integer scaling. That may be acceptable for competitive games where motion and frame rate matter more than fine detail, but it is a noticeable compromise for desktop text and detailed scenes.

  • 27" 4K UHD MINI-LED DISPLAY Experience exceptional detail with a 27-inch 4K UHD 3840x2160 resolution and mini-LED backlight featuring 1152 local dimming zones for deeper contrast and vivid HDR visuals.
  • ULTRA-SMOOTH 160HZ GAMING Enjoy fluid gameplay with up to 160Hz refresh rate at 4K resolution through HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort 1.4 connectivity.
  • 1MS GTG RESPONSE TIME React faster with 1ms GtG response time, reducing motion blur and ghosting during fast-paced gaming sessions.
  • HDR1000 & G-SYNC COMPATIBLE Experience immersive visuals with VESA Certified DisplayHDR1000 and NVIDIA G-SYNC Compatible support for smoother tear-free gameplay.
  • NEXT-GEN CONNECTIVITY & ERGONOMICS Features HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort 1.4, USB 3.2 hub, height adjustment, swivel, pivot, tilt adjustment, VESA mount compatibility, and headphone output for flexible gaming setups.

At native 4K, the screen’s 163 pixels per inch make small text dense; DisplayNinja says scaling is needed for comfortable reading. Modern applications generally handle display scaling, but users moving between modes should expect the 1080p mode to look less crisp.

HDR brightness, color and dimming

DisplayNinja measured brightness at different white-window sizes with local dimming set to High. These are distinct test conditions, not interchangeable ways to state one maximum:

Test condition DisplayNinja result
3% average-picture-level white window; local dimming High 1,105 cd/m²
10% white window 1,467 cd/m²
Full white window 1,749 cd/m²

KTC’s listed HDR brightness is 1,400 cd/m². The review’s window-based measurements show why HDR brightness figures need their test conditions attached: the result changes substantially with the size of the bright area.

The 2,304-zone backlight helps the monitor produce bright highlights while keeping blooming low in most scenes, according to the reviewer. It is not a guarantee of OLED-like pixel-level control: DisplayNinja still saw blooming in some circumstances, particularly when viewing at an angle. The review says the STW polarizer improves black levels at an angle and reduces IPS glow and blooming compared with the M27P6, but does not eliminate those effects.

Color is a more mixed result. DisplayNinja measured 94.8% DCI-P3 coverage, against KTC’s 99% claim, and suggested that colorimeter and test-method differences may account for some of the gap. The reviewer found SDR performance more convincing, describing the sRGB and Adobe RGB modes as well calibrated. For HDR, the review flags calibration, saturation accuracy and color temperature as areas needing improvement. A wide-gamut specification alone therefore does not establish accurate HDR color.

Motion, response and gaming behavior

At 4K 160Hz, DisplayNinja recommends the Advanced overdrive setting. In that mode, its review measured 4.63ms gray-to-gray response time, 3.9% average overshoot error and 86.67% refresh-rate compliance. These are review results for that specific resolution, refresh rate and overdrive setting—not guarantees for every mode or transition.

In 1080p 320Hz mode, the overdrive controls are locked in the on-screen display. DisplayNinja says they can be adjusted through KTC’s MCC desktop application. The reviewer also reports that variable refresh rate can run alongside motion-blur reduction, but the combination has substantial strobe crosstalk, which can appear as multiple or trailing images around moving objects.

With local dimming enabled, the review found latency slightly higher than ideal, though still playable at high refresh rates. It also noted subtle brightness flicker during some dark-to-bright transitions; this may be more noticeable at 60Hz than at higher refresh rates. These are relevant trade-offs for sensitive players, even though the review’s overall assessment of gaming performance was positive.

Connectivity and everyday use

USB-C with 65W power delivery and a built-in KVM, as reported by DisplayNinja, can make the monitor useful in a desk setup shared by a gaming PC and a laptop. The listed video and USB ports provide room for multiple devices and peripherals. Confirm that your laptop’s USB-C connection supports the video mode you need and that 65W is sufficient for its charging needs; the available specifications do not establish compatibility for every laptop or dock arrangement.

The glossy finish can give images a more direct, vivid look, but it reflects room light more readily than a matte surface. The review identifies the glossy screen as a central part of the viewing experience; whether it suits your desk depends on window placement and lighting. The stand’s height, tilt, swivel and pivot adjustments add flexibility for positioning.

Price, warranty and buying caveats

Prices in the available sources conflict. At the time its page was accessed, KTC’s US product page showed $549.99 sale pricing and $669.99 regular pricing, alongside a 30-day return period, three-year warranty and 30-day price-match offer. DisplayNinja listed a $600 MSRP and a then-current $400 price, as well as an Amazon discount-code mention. These are different retailer or promotion snapshots, not a settled current street price. Check the live listing, seller, terms and date before comparing offers.

DisplayNinja also noted a quality-control concern, but the review does not establish a population-wide defect rate or long-term reliability. Neither source establishes warranty-claim experience, and no firmware release after the USA-1.0.1 review test is confirmed here.

Who should consider the M27P6S?

  • A good fit: players seeking a glossy 4K gaming display with very bright Mini LED HDR, 160Hz at native resolution, and the option to prioritize 320Hz in competitive games.
  • Think twice: if you need consistently crisp 1080p on a 27-inch screen, highly accurate HDR color out of the box, minimal reflections, or pixel-level black control.
  • Check your setup: verify laptop USB-C video and charging requirements, preferred KVM workflow, and whether your room’s lighting works with a glossy panel.

When comparing alternatives, use like-for-like brightness test windows and local-dimming settings, and weigh blooming, latency, color accuracy, response behavior, surface finish, connectivity and actual current price. The available review does not establish a complete market ranking.
