Konami says it is looking beyond the latest Silent Hill releases, but the company has not announced which games would make up the “second and third waves.” The phrase comes from reporting on a recent interview with series producer Motoi Okamoto; it signals an intention to keep developing the franchise, not a confirmed slate or release schedule.
What “second and third waves” means
In reporting dated October 9, 2026, Famitsu attributed the “second and third waves” remark to producer Motoi Okamoto as he discussed the franchise’s future after its recent releases. MP1st supplied an English rendering of the comment, but the exact wording is not independently verifiable from the accessible Famitsu passage. The safe takeaway is that Konami is thinking beyond the current wave; neither the remark nor the available reporting identifies specific later-wave games. MP1st’s report

Which Silent Hill games are confirmed?
Konami’s 2026 investor report described SILENT HILL f as the first brand-new installment in twelve years and said the company was working on a remake of the original Silent Hill and a new title, SILENT HILL: Townfall. The report says Konami plans to develop the series further; it does not place those projects in a specifically named second or third wave. Konami Group investor report

Will Konami release a new Silent Hill every year?
Okamoto has said the company’s aim is, “hopefully,” to have an annual release of new games. That is an ambition, not a guarantee that a game will ship every calendar year; it does not establish a schedule for the remake, Townfall, or unnamed future projects. GamesRadar+ interview at Gamescom 2026
#1 Best Overall
- Experience the two classic Silent Hill titles previously released on PlayStation 2, Silent Hill 2: Restless Dreams & Silent Hill 3, that defined the Survival Horror genre in its early inception
- Both titles re-mastered to HD at 720p for improved graphics on PlayStation 3
- Completely updated in-game voiceover directed by series vocalist Mary Elizabeth McGlynn and soundtrack score enhancing the storytelling and ambient music within each re-mastered game
- Full PlayStation Network Trophies support integration
How the newer games can differ
Konami has described a collaborative approach in which outside teams interpret the series rather than simply following a single detailed template. In a PlayStation.Blog interview, Okamoto said Konami has internal storyline guidelines, but developers and writers are expected to analyze Silent Hill and build their own creative bible. He said Annapurna Interactive introduced Screen Burn Interactive to Konami, and that he had played the studio’s earlier games Stories Untold and Observation. PlayStation.Blog interview
That flexibility is visible in Townfall’s setting. Writer-director Jon McKellan said Scotland was familiar to the team and that its fog suited the series’ atmosphere; Konami describes the story as taking place on a fictional Scottish island. A different setting and creative team can shape a new entry without making it a confirmed member of any particular “wave.”

What the sales figures do—and do not—show
Konami reported more than 14 million cumulative sales for the Silent Hill series as of December 2025. Separately, it said more than 2 million SILENT HILL f units had shipped worldwide by April 22, 2026, counting physical and digital sales. It also reported more than 6 million SILENT HILL 2 players by April 24, 2026, a measure that includes units shipped, store downloads, and subscription services. These figures have different dates and definitions; the player count should not be compared directly with SILENT HILL f unit shipments. How to follow the next announcements
For now, distinguish announced projects from the broader signal that Konami wants to keep the franchise active. The remake and Townfall were named in Konami’s investor report; the “second and third waves” remark does not add titles, dates, or platforms. Readers interested in the recent release can also find Konami’s announcement of a physical PlayStation 5 Day One edition of SILENT HILL f, alongside its digital release information.
