If your older Kodak all-in-one printer calls for a Series 30 color cartridge, search for a Kodak 30 color cartridge, often marked 30C. Before paying, read the printer model from its label or menu and confirm that the listing names that exact model and the 30 Series color designation. Kodak no longer sells new ESP and HERO ink cartridges to retailers, so online listings represent remaining, remanufactured, refilled, or third-party stock rather than a currently supported Kodak printer line.
The short answer
A Kodak 30 color cartridge is the color member of Kodak’s legacy 30 Series ink system. It is commonly identified as Color 30 or 30C, while the matching black cartridge is identified as Black 30. The correct purchase depends on the printer model, not just the number printed in a search result.

- Find the exact Kodak printer model on its exterior label, setup screen, or manual.
- Check that the listing explicitly says Kodak 30 Series color, Color 30, or 30C.
- Check the listing’s compatibility section against your model.
- Identify whether the cartridge is genuine, remanufactured, refilled, or another third-party product.
- Review the seller, return policy, stock status, storage or expiry information, and delivered price before ordering.
No current inventory, price, seller rating, yield, or shipping estimate is established here. Those details change by seller and must be checked on the live listing you are considering.

Color 30 is a separate cartridge from Black 30
Kodak’s cartridge comparison material separates the 30 Series into a color cartridge and a black cartridge. A listing that says only “Kodak 30” is incomplete for a color replacement: verify that the product is marked Color 30 or 30C, not Black 30.

| Marking | What it denotes | When to choose it |
|---|---|---|
| Color 30 / 30C | Legacy 30 Series color ink cartridge | When your compatible printer requires the color position of Series 30 |
| Black 30 | Legacy 30 Series black ink cartridge | Only when replacing the printer’s black cartridge |
| Kodak 10 Series | A different Kodak cartridge series | Only for a model whose manual or support instructions specify Series 10 |
The “C” in 30C is a color designation used by sellers and cartridge references; it should not be treated as proof that every 30C listing fits every Kodak printer. Cartridge recognition and fit remain model-specific.
Compatibility comes before the seller or price
Locate the printer model
Look at the printer’s front or rear identification label, the information panel inside the access door, or the model information shown in the printer menu. Write down the complete model designation, including any letters or suffixes. “Kodak all-in-one” is not specific enough because Kodak used more than one cartridge series across its printer line.
Use the model-specific manual
Open the manual or cartridge table for that exact model and find the required series. The manual is the authority for the cartridge bay, color/black arrangement, and replacement procedure. Do not infer compatibility from a photograph of a cartridge, a seller’s title, or another printer that looks similar.

Kodak’s comparison document marks four printer models as compatible with “30,” but the retrieved table does not expose those model names alongside the row. Because the names are not established in the available material, a complete supported-model list cannot be given responsibly here. Use your own model manual rather than relying on an online list that omits the model-specific source.
Why a recognition message needs careful interpretation
In Kodak’s troubleshooting guidance for a 3603 color-cartridge-not-recognized situation, the instruction is: “IMPORTANT: You must install a KODAK Ink Cartridge 10 Series or 30 Series in the printer.” That instruction belongs to that cited recognition-error case. It does not mean every Kodak printer accepts either series. If your printer is not the model covered by the message, follow its own manual.

Are Kodak 30 color cartridges still available?
Kodak Shop Support states that Eastman Kodak Company stopped selling ink cartridges for its ESP and HERO series printers to retailers on September 30, 2020. The same notice says replacement cartridges may still appear in stores or online while stocks last. This is a historical sales-policy statement, not confirmation that any particular listing has inventory now.
Consequently, an online search can return several different supply conditions:
Recommended Free Tools
- Old genuine stock: an unused Kodak cartridge remaining from earlier retail distribution.
- Remanufactured: a used cartridge that has been processed and refilled by a specialist supplier.
- Refilled: a cartridge filled again after its original ink was exhausted.
- Third-party compatible: a newly manufactured alternative that claims to work with the 30 Series.
- Out-of-stock or stale listings: pages that remain indexed even though the seller cannot dispatch the item.
Read the actual stock indicator and dispatch terms on the seller page. “Available online” in a support article should not be converted into a claim that a cartridge is available today.
How to choose a listing step by step
- Record the model. Copy the complete printer model exactly as printed on the machine.
- Search with the series and color. Use a phrase such as
Kodak 30 color ink cartridge,Kodak 30C color cartridge, or the model plus “30C.” Including the model reduces results for other Kodak series. - Read the technical title. Confirm that the listing identifies Color 30, 30C, or 30 Series color. A title that says only “Kodak 30” needs clarification.
- Check the compatibility field. Your exact model should appear, or the seller should provide a documented series list that you can reconcile with the manual.
- Identify the condition. Determine whether the item is genuine Kodak, remanufactured, refilled, or third-party. Do not assume “compatible” means genuine.
- Inspect photos and markings. The cartridge label, packaging, and contacts should correspond to the stated series and color. Ask the seller about an unclear or mismatched photograph before buying.
- Check stock and dispatch. Confirm that the seller can ship the quantity you need now, rather than accepting a back-order with no date.
- Check storage or expiry information. If the listing supplies a manufacture date, expiry date, seal condition, or storage statement, compare it with the seller’s return terms. If no such information is supplied, do not invent a shelf-life assumption.
- Calculate delivered cost. Add shipping, taxes, and any minimum-order requirement. A low item price can be offset by delivery charges.
- Read returns and support terms. Look for the period allowed for a defective or incompatible cartridge and whether the seller requires unopened packaging for a return.
- Save the listing details. Keep a copy of the model, series, condition, seller, and return terms in case the page changes after purchase.
Genuine, remanufactured, refilled, and third-party options
The label describing condition is as important as the cartridge number. A genuine Kodak cartridge has the Kodak branding and original-series identification, but age and storage still matter because these are legacy supplies. A remanufactured or refilled cartridge may cost less or be the only stock available, yet quality depends on the supplier’s process and the condition of the reused cartridge. A third-party compatible product is not a Kodak cartridge even when it uses the same 30C terminology.
Kodak’s support guidance warns that it is not responsible for the compatibility or performance of non-Kodak or refilled cartridges. That is Kodak’s stated limitation, not an independent test showing that every third-party cartridge will fail. If you choose a non-genuine option, make sure the seller offers a practical replacement or refund policy and that the exact printer model is covered.

What to do when the cartridge arrives
Inspect before opening
- Compare the package marking with the order: Color 30 or 30C, not Black 30.
- Check for broken seals, leaking ink, crushed packaging, or a cartridge that differs from the listing photographs.
- Photograph a mismatch before contacting the seller; leave the cartridge sealed if you intend to return it.
General replacement sequence
Kodak’s C315 guide illustrates the basic replacement sequence. It is a model example, not proof that every C315 configuration or every Kodak model uses Series 30, so verify the cartridge number first.
- Turn the printer on and wait until it is idle.
- Open the ink-cartridge access door.
- Allow the carriage to move into its replacement position and stop.
- Press or release the color-cartridge latch according to the model manual.
- Remove the old color cartridge without touching the electrical contacts or ink outlet.
- Remove the protective materials from the replacement cartridge as directed by its package.
- Insert the color cartridge into the color position and press it down until the latch secures it.
- Close the access door and allow the printer to complete its initialization.
- Run the alignment or test-page procedure specified for your model.
If the carriage layout, latch, or menu differs, stop and use the model-specific manual rather than forcing the cartridge into place.
Fixing a “cartridge not recognized” message
Check the series and color first
Remove the cartridge and compare its label with the requirement in the manual. A Black 30 cartridge cannot replace a Color 30 cartridge, and a Series 10 cartridge is not automatically interchangeable with Series 30.
Reseat the cartridge
Power the printer off if the manual instructs you to do so, remove and reinstall the cartridge, and make sure the latch closes fully. A partially seated cartridge can produce the same symptom as an incompatible one.
Inspect contacts and protective material
Check that no shipping tab, tape, or packaging remains and that the electrical contacts are clean and undamaged. Do not scrape the contacts or apply liquid unless the model manual specifically directs it.

- Please Note: To reach 10Gbps speed, keep the cable under 3.3 ft. For USB A Male to USB C adapters, try flipping the USB C connector. USB C Male to USB A adapters support bidirectional 10Gbps transfer within 3.3 ft
Separate printer faults from cartridge faults
If a known-good, correctly specified cartridge is also rejected, the problem may be the carriage contacts, firmware state, or printer hardware rather than the listing’s cartridge. Record the exact error text and follow the model’s troubleshooting sequence. Kodak’s recognition guidance for the cited 3603 case specifically requires a Kodak 10 Series or 30 Series cartridge; it should not be generalized to an unlisted model.
Use the return policy when the evidence points to a bad item
If the model and series are correct but the cartridge leaks, is physically damaged, or remains unrecognized after the manual’s steps, contact the seller within its stated return period. Include the printer model, cartridge marking, error message, and photos. Do not keep trying to force a cartridge that does not fit.
Do current Kodak photo-printer cartridges replace Series 30?
No substitution should be assumed. Kodak’s current product pages list consumables for newer photo printers and mini printers as separate product lines. Those cartridges or cartridge-and-paper kits are not established as compatible with a legacy ESP or HERO printer that requires 30C. Buy a current photo-printer supply only for the model named on that product’s compatibility information.
The reverse is also true: a Series 30 color cartridge is not a generic replacement for a current Kodak photo printer. The product family, physical design, electronics, and printer firmware can differ even when the packaging uses the Kodak name.

A practical comparison of your buying choices
| Choice | What is established | What you must verify | Main risk |
|---|---|---|---|
| Genuine Kodak Color 30/30C | Matches the legacy 30 Series designation | Exact printer model, seal and storage condition, seller stock, returns | Older inventory may have been stored for an unknown period |
| Remanufactured 30C | Seller claims a reused cartridge was processed for 30C compatibility | Process description, model list, test or replacement policy | Performance depends on the supplier and cartridge condition |
| Refilled cartridge | Previously used cartridge has been filled again | Whether the cartridge electronics were reset or tested, plus returns | Recognition or print-quality problems can occur |
| Third-party compatible | Seller claims compatibility with the 30 Series | Exact model coverage, reviews on the relevant listing, returns | It is not Kodak-made and may not be covered by Kodak support |
| Current photo-printer supply | Belongs to a separate current Kodak consumables line | Only the current printer models named by that product | Assuming the Kodak name makes it fit a legacy printer |
There is no universally best option independent of the printer. For a working legacy machine, the best listing is the one that matches the exact model, clearly states Color 30 or 30C, discloses condition, and offers a credible return path.

Questions readers commonly ask
Is Kodak 30 the same as 30C?
30C is the color designation used for the Color 30 member of Kodak’s 30 Series. Verify the full label because “Kodak 30” by itself can omit whether the listing is color or black.
Which Kodak printer uses a 30 color cartridge?
Compatibility is model-specific. Kodak’s comparison document marks four models with the 30 series, but the available table text does not identify those models next to the marking. Use the exact printer manual or a listing that names your model rather than relying on a generic model list.
Can I use a Series 10 cartridge in place of 30C?
Not unless the manual for your particular printer says so. Kodak mentions Series 10 or Series 30 in a specific 3603 recognition-error instruction; that statement is not a universal cross-compatibility promise.
Does a Kodak 30 cartridge work in a current Kodak mini printer?
There is no established compatibility between the legacy 30 Series and current mini-printer or photo-printer consumables. Use the cartridge specified for the current printer model.
Why do some listings call a cartridge “new” when Kodak stopped selling it?
“New” can describe unused old stock held by a reseller, not a newly manufactured cartridge from Kodak. Check the package condition, date or storage information if supplied, and the seller’s return terms.
Should I buy a listing that does not name my model?
Only after obtaining written confirmation from the seller and reconciling it with your manual. A 30C label alone does not establish fit for every Kodak printer.
Bottom line
For a compatible legacy Kodak all-in-one printer, look for a Color 30 (30C) cartridge, then verify the complete printer model before ordering. Kodak ended retailer sales of ESP and HERO cartridges on September 30, 2020, so treat every online offer as remaining or aftermarket stock and evaluate its condition, compatibility evidence, delivered cost, and return policy. Current Kodak photo-printer cartridges are separate products and should not be used as substitutes without model-specific confirmation.
