What do independent reviews say about its cooking performance?
CHOICE’s exact-model page does not publicly show the expert rating, low- or high-setting cooking-performance results, ease-of-use score, or end-of-cooking food temperatures. Those results are behind member access. The available public information therefore supports a summary of listed specifications and discontinued status, not a verdict that this particular cooker performs well or poorly.
Do not substitute results or features from another Anko slow cooker. Canstar Blue’s 22 February 2022 article discusses the range rather than publishing a verified test result for the SA-SC-1235. Its commentary says that, in the range it reviewed, only the 6.5 L model had an automatic keep-warm setting and digital timer; that does not establish the SA-SC-1235’s controls. Canstar Blue’s dated range commentary also quotes Home & Lifestyle Editor Megan Birot describing the range as offering “the basic functionally and budget price tag we expect to see from any standard Kmart appliance.” That is an attributed opinion about the range, not an exact-model test finding.

What should you check before buying one second-hand?
Because the public exact-model listing does not answer several ownership questions, inspect the individual cooker rather than relying on assumptions about the range.
- Check the model label to confirm it says SA-SC-1235; manuals and specifications for other Anko models are not automatically applicable.
- Inspect the ceramic bowl and glass lid for cracks, chips or other damage, and check that the bowl sits securely in the base.
- Ask the seller to demonstrate that the controls and heating work. The public exact-model material does not state the full control layout, timer availability or keep-warm behavior.
- Ask whether the original manual is available and follow model-specific safety, cleaning and operating instructions. No exact-model manual is established in the sources cited here.
- Confirm the cooker’s condition and any return arrangement with the seller; its discontinued status means the old listing price does not establish current availability or value.
Is Kmart’s current 3 L slow cooker the same model?
No evidence identifies Kmart’s currently listed 3 L cooker as a successor to, or a parts-compatible equivalent of, the SA-SC-1235. Kmart Australia lists a separate cooker under SKU 42688648. It shares the stated 3 L capacity, but that similarity alone does not establish that its bowl, lid or other parts fit the older model.

The current cooker’s shorter listed width and greater listed height make its external dimensions different, even though both are described as 3 L models. Compare the actual measurements and product details before choosing one for a particular space or household. Kmart’s listing describes SKU 42688648, not the discontinued SA-SC-1235. Canstar Blue’s 2022 range commentary described Kmart’s 3 L model as an option for a one- or two-person household. That is dated, general guidance about the range, not a current endorsement or a precise serving guarantee for the SA-SC-1235. Consider the quantity you normally cook and the usable capacity of the individual bowl; the listed 3 L figure is claimed capacity.
