The Kmart Anko Anti-Allergy Bagless Vacuum, model SL155B-H13, is a budget canister vacuum with an H13 exhaust filter and a 12-month warranty. The name and the filter are what most buyers notice, but the independent evidence available in October 2026 does not support its allergy positioning. CHOICE rated the model poorly overall, with a 56% Expert Rating and a 50% pet-hair removal score, and it argues that emptying a bagless canister can expose allergy sufferers to the dust they are trying to remove. If allergies or pet hair are your main concern, this is a hard model to recommend.
This review does not draw on hands-on testing by its author. It relies on CHOICE’s published testing and on Kmart’s and the manufacturer’s product documentation, and it separates what those sources measured from what they claim.

What the Anko SL155B-H13 is
Kmart sells this vacuum as a bagless canister model under Kmart SKU 43324996. Its Kmart product page and the official manual describe the same core features: a bagless canister, an H13 medical-grade HEPA exhaust filter and a 5 m cord. CHOICE’s test record uses different figures, which is why the two sets of numbers should be read side by side rather than mixed.

The gaps are not errors to choose between. The sources do not explain why the dust capacity or weight differ, so treat each figure as belonging to its own source. The 7.48 m reach and the 5 m cord are also different measures and should not be compared directly. CHOICE’s test record lists the tools supplied with the machine as a telescopic wand, hose, floor tool, combined crevice and dusting tool, and an upholstery tool.

What CHOICE found
CHOICE’s avoid-buying article, updated 28 September 2026, gives the model a 56% Expert Rating and a 50% pet-hair removal score. It describes the cleaning performance as low. The detailed model page is available to CHOICE members for scores and recommendations, so sub-scores beyond those two figures are not available here.
Is it any good for pet hair?
Not on CHOICE’s test. A 50% pet-hair removal score means the machine removed roughly half of the pet hair in CHOICE’s testing, and the published summary does not describe the test protocol. That makes it a relative verdict rather than a precise figure, but it is the only pet-specific number available for this model, and it is well below what a pet owner would want from a vacuum sold on its ability to handle household dust.

What the 56% rating tells you
The 56% Expert Rating is CHOICE’s overall score for the model. It is not a score for the anti-allergy feature. CHOICE’s editorial wording goes further, suggesting the vacuum “should probably be renamed ‘anti-cleaning'”. That is CHOICE’s own editorial judgement, not a quote from a named expert, and it is best read as a summary of the test results rather than as separate evidence.
Does the H13 filter make it suitable for allergies?
Not in the sense the name suggests. The H13 filter sits on the exhaust, so it governs air leaving the machine. It does not change how much dust the vacuum lifts from the floor, which is where CHOICE found the weakness.

The manual is more cautious than the product name. It states that the vacuum is approved by the National Asthma Council Australia’s Sensitive Choice program and has a HEPA exhaust filter. It then explains that HEPA filtration does not guarantee that only a tiny fraction of vacuumed particles is emitted: air can bypass the filter, and vacuuming can raise particles the machine did not capture. For people sensitive to household particulate allergens, the manual advises, where possible, not doing the vacuuming yourself and staying out of the area for at least 20 minutes afterward.
The Sensitive Choice mark and the H13 filter are therefore useful information about the exhaust, not proof of clinical benefit or a substitute for cleaning performance.

The emptying problem for allergy sufferers
CHOICE’s main allergy objection is about emptying rather than vacuuming. It argues that emptying a bagless canister can expose allergy sufferers to dust and allergens. It notes that a bagged vacuum can be sealed before disposal, which reduces contact during emptying. The manual’s 20-minute advice covers vacuuming and does not address emptying, so it does not answer this objection.

A user who vacuums often will therefore empty often, and each emptying is a separate exposure event.

Cleaning the filters and replacing the exhaust filter
The manual’s maintenance guidance is straightforward, and it is worth following because the filter is the part that protects the exhaust air.
- Empty the canister before the dust reaches the MAX line, or as soon as suction drops.
- Clean the filters regularly, following the manual’s procedure.
- Clean the exhaust HEPA filter every three months, or sooner if it needs it.
- If you wash a filter, let it dry completely before reuse. The manual warns against using wet or damp filters.
- Order a replacement through Kmart customer service, as the manual directs, or check the parts listed by H.E. Group, which lists an exhaust HEPA filter for the SL155B-H13 / KC43324996.
The H.E. Group listing confirms the part is made for this model. It does not confirm current stock or price, so check before you order, and confirm the part number against the one printed on your machine or in the manual.
Warranty, price and availability
- Warranty: 12 months, as stated in the manual.
- Price: Kmart displayed $79 on 7 October 2026, and CHOICE’s 28 September 2026 article gives a $79 RRP. Prices change, so confirm the current figure before buying.
- Availability: Kmart’s product page was live when checked. ProductReview.com.au labels its listing for this model as discontinued. Treat availability as uncertain and dependent on the retailer.
- User reviews: The ProductReview.com.au listing has only one review, so it is an anecdote rather than a representative sample.
What to check before buying any bagless vacuum
If you are comparing this model with others, use the measures that actually predict performance for your home:
- Independently tested overall cleaning performance and pet-hair pickup
- Carpet and hard-floor results, since a model can perform differently on each
- Dust exposure during emptying, and whether the design allows sealed disposal
- Filter type, replacement cost and parts availability
- Weight and reach, measured rather than just listed
- Warranty length and the current purchase price
Advertised wattage and an HEPA label are poor substitutes for these measures. This model’s listed 2000 W maximum rating, for example, is 1140 W in CHOICE’s measurement, and its HEPA filter does not in itself settle the cleaning question.
