CHOICE identifies the AF701 as discontinued and lists a 73% Expert Rating, accessed in 2026. The score is not enough to establish how well it cooks particular foods: detailed cooking, ease-of-use and cleaning results are available only to members on CHOICE’s public product page. How the AF701 is meant to cook
Kmart’s manual describes rapid air circulation from multiple directions and a top grill. It says food can be cooked without oil, or with a small amount added to some ingredients. These are manufacturer descriptions and guidance, not independent test findings. The manual recommends preheating for three minutes at 180°C; it also says cooking times are approximate and may need adjustment for the amount of food. Safe setup and use
- Place the fryer on a stable, level, dry, heat-resistant surface. Leave at least 20cm between it and walls or heat-sensitive materials, and do not position it under overhead cabinets because steam may damage them.
- On laminated or vinyl benchtops, the manual recommends an insulated heat pad and does not recommend direct placement. If choosing a heat-resistant air fryer mat, check its temperature rating and dimensions; no particular mat has been verified for this model.
- Keep food below the MAX mark and inside the basket. Keep the air inlet and outlet uncovered. The basket, pan and outlet become hot during use.
- Do not fill the pan with oil. The manual warns: “WARNING: FIRE HAZARD. DO NOT fill the pan with oil.”
Cleaning the basket, pan and housing
Unplug the fryer and let it cool completely before cleaning. The manual says the basket and pan are dishwasher-safe; they can also be washed with hot water, dishwashing liquid and a non-abrasive sponge. Wipe the housing with a damp cloth—never immerse it. Avoid harsh abrasives, caustic cleaners and oven cleaners. The cleaning guidance is in the AF701 manual.

Owners have also asked whether they can buy a replacement basket or handle, and what size silicone liner fits. Those questions show that parts and accessory fit matter to users, but they do not establish that a compatible replacement is currently sold. Before buying a used AF701 with a missing, damaged or warped component, ask the seller to confirm what is included and whether any replacement part is explicitly confirmed as AF701-compatible.
What to check when buying one second-hand
- Confirm the exact model is AF701 and check that the pan and basket are present, fit properly and show no visible warping or damage.
- Ask to see the controls and appliance operating, if possible, and check for damage around the handle, inlet, outlet and housing.
- Measure the available bench space and allow for the manual’s clearance guidance, not just the appliance’s listed 39 × 33 × 37cm dimensions.
- Compare the seller’s price with other available options at the time of purchase. CHOICE’s displayed $49 is not confirmed as a current price.
- If you need an accessory or replacement component, require confirmation of AF701 compatibility from the seller or supplier rather than assuming a generic basket, handle or liner will fit.
