The Kmart Anko P90J30AP-F1 is a 28L, 900W turntable microwave with 10 power levels, six auto-cook menus, and defrost by time or weight. CHOICE’s public buying guide endorses it as an affordable cooking and defrosting option, but the detailed scores on its model review page are member-only. The main practical check is space: Kmart and CHOICE publish different external widths, and the unit needs ventilation clearance.
What the P90J30AP-F1 offers
Kmart’s listing identifies this model as SKU 43156801. It has a 28L capacity, 900W microwave output and a turntable; CHOICE lists the turntable diameter as 28cm. Kmart specifies a 220–240V, 50Hz power supply and 1400W input. These are product specifications, not independent performance measurements. Does it cook and defrost well?
CHOICE kitchen-lab appliance tester Fiona Mair gives the model a public endorsement in CHOICE’s Anko buying guide: “If you’re looking for an affordable microwave that cooks well and is great for defrosting, then the Anko 28-litre model is a good buy,” says Fiona. This is a named expert’s assessment, not a published scorecard.
CHOICE’s detailed Expert Rating and cooking, defrosting, reheating and ease-of-use scores are restricted to members on the accessible review page. They cannot be used to quantify how this microwave performs against other models. The available public evidence supports reporting Mair’s recommendation, but not a numerical performance verdict.

Will it fit on your bench?
The published external measurements differ by source. Kmart lists 28.3cm high × 53.4cm wide × 38.8cm deep; CHOICE lists 28 × 51 × 39cm (H × W × D). Use the Kmart dimensions as the wider of the two published widths when checking a tight space, and verify the physical unit and manual before purchase or installation. Kmart’s listing and CHOICE’s review do not give the same width.
Kmart also publishes internal dimensions of 23.6cm high × 36.9cm wide × 37.2cm deep. These describe the cavity, not the amount of space available for every dish: allow for the turntable and the shape of the food container when considering what you regularly heat.

Ventilation clearance
CHOICE says the vents are on the left side and rear and specifies 20cm above, 10cm at the rear and 5cm at the sides. Include those gaps when assessing the intended countertop position; a microwave that fits between cabinets may still lack the clearance CHOICE specifies. Check the supplied manual for the applicable installation instructions. CHOICE’s model review provides the clearance guidance.

Price, warranty and safety information
CHOICE’s undated review page showed a $99 price when accessed on 8 October 2026, but said it had no current price links for the model. Treat that figure as a dated page observation rather than a guaranteed current price. Kmart’s undated product listing states a 12-month warranty; check Kmart’s current listing and warranty terms before buying, as price, stock and terms can change.

Kmart says the microwave was tested to applicable Australian electrical safety standards and certified as compliant. That is Kmart’s statement; it is not an independent audit of certification. Kmart also warns not to heat liquids or other food in sealed containers because they may explode. Read the P90J30AP-F1 user manual and follow its operating, installation and cleaning instructions.

For another countertop microwave, compare usable cavity space and exterior fit rather than capacity alone. Also check output power, whether it uses a turntable or flatbed, available controls and presets, required ventilation gaps, warranty terms and independently published cooking or defrosting results. CHOICE’s model page links to its wider microwave coverage, but the public information used here does not establish current comparative scores for alternatives.
