Buy Kingdom Hearts Integrum Masterpiece when you want the complete package through Kingdom Hearts III and its Re Mind DLC. Buy Kingdom Hearts: The Story So Far when you specifically want the pre-III collections on PS4, or you already own Kingdom Hearts III elsewhere. The most important catch is the edition: the Nintendo Switch release called Integrum Masterpiece is a cloud version, while the newer Collection [I~III] is listed as a native Switch 2 and PlayStation release.
The short answer
These are not two differently arranged versions of exactly the same package. The Story So Far stops after the material collected in HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue. It does not include Kingdom Hearts III or the Re Mind expansion. Integrum Masterpiece contains those same two collections and adds Kingdom Hearts III + Re Mind.

The practical boundary is clear: this package gives you the material leading up to KHIII, but not KHIII itself. It also does not include Re Mind. If you buy The Story So Far expecting a single purchase that reaches the third numbered game, you will still need a separate KHIII release.

Why the stopping point matters
The difference is not a minor bonus disc. The Story So Far is a pre-KHIII set: its newest listed game is Dream Drop Distance HD, accompanied by 0.2 Birth by Sleep – A fragmentary passage and the χ Back Cover movie. Integrum extends that package with the complete KHIII release identified by Nintendo, including Re Mind.

- If you are building a collection from the beginning, buying The Story So Far and then adding KHIII later means managing two purchases and checking that the KHIII edition you choose includes or separately offers Re Mind.
- If you already own KHIII, The Story So Far avoids paying for another copy of a game you have. It supplies the earlier collections without forcing the third game into this purchase.
- If you want the package to reach the third numbered game immediately, Integrum is the direct fit, provided its platform and delivery method work for you.
Platform and delivery differences
The Story So Far is the PS4-oriented choice
Square Enix’s product listing identifies The Story So Far as a PS4 RPG. That makes it the straightforward option for a PS4 buyer seeking the 1.5+2.5 and 2.8 contents. The listing does not turn it into a KHIII bundle; KHIII and Re Mind remain outside its contents.
The named Switch Integrum release is cloud-streamed
Nintendo labels the Switch edition as Integrum Masterpiece for Cloud. You need an internet connection while playing because the games are streamed. Nintendo places this warning on the product page:

A cloud purchase therefore depends on more than storage space. Your connection must be reliable enough for the service, and play is tied to the continued availability of that cloud service. If you regularly play without internet access, this edition is a poor match even though its listed contents are comprehensive.
Switch 2 changes the format question
Nintendo describes the newer Switch 2 versions as native games rather than the older cloud implementation. Nintendo’s overview identifies KINGDOM HEARTS Collection [I~III] as containing 1.5+2.5, 2.8 and III + Re Mind. Square Enix’s Collection [I~III] page lists digital and physical purchase options for PlayStation and Switch 2.

Do not assume that a Switch 2 listing named Collection [I~III] is the same SKU as the discontinued Switch Cloud bundle. The contents are described as the same three collection components, but the hardware version and delivery method differ. Read the listing’s platform field and confirm that it says Switch 2, not Cloud.

The older Switch Cloud edition has a time-sensitive ownership issue. Square Enix Support says sales of the Nintendo Switch Cloud versions, including Integrum Masterpiece for Cloud, were discontinued at 14:59 UTC on June 9, 2026. The same notice schedules service discontinuation for 14:59 UTC on June 9, 2027. Read the current Square Enix Support notice before relying on an older listing.
The notice also says eligible owners of the Cloud versions can receive discounts on corresponding digital Switch 2 versions and transfer save data. The physical Switch 2 collection is not eligible for that owner discount. Eligibility and the applicable digital product should be checked in the live account and store flow; do not treat ownership of a Cloud copy as an automatic discount on every Switch 2 SKU.
For someone shopping now, this makes the old Cloud listing a special case rather than the default recommendation. A listing that appears in a search result may be unavailable for new sales, and a previously purchased Cloud title has a stated service end date. The native Switch 2 collection is the more durable format for a current Nintendo purchase, subject to the exact regional SKU.
Which collection should each type of buyer choose?
You are new to the series and want one broad package
Start with the package that includes all three components: Integrum where that edition is still legitimately available and suits your platform, or the newer Collection [I~III] on Switch 2 or PlayStation. The Story So Far alone cannot take you through KHIII because the game and its DLC are absent.

You own a PS4 and want the earlier games
The Story So Far is the purpose-built choice. It contains the PS4-listed 1.5+2.5 and 2.8 collections, including the cinematics and movie identified in Square Enix’s contents list. Add KHIII separately only if you do not already own it.
You already own KHIII
Buy The Story So Far when your gap is the earlier material. Integrum’s extra KHIII component would duplicate the game you already have, although you should still check whether your existing KHIII edition includes Re Mind before deciding that no additional content is needed.
You want KHIII and Re Mind included from the start
Choose Integrum or the current Collection [I~III] equivalent for your hardware. Verify that the listing explicitly says Kingdom Hearts III + Re Mind, rather than assuming that a title containing “1.5+2.5” or “2.8” also includes the third game.
You are shopping for Nintendo Switch
Separate three situations: the older Switch Cloud listing, an already owned Cloud copy, and the newer native Switch 2 collection. The Cloud version requires internet, is no longer sold according to Square Enix’s June 2026 notice, and has a scheduled service end in June 2027. For a new purchase on current Nintendo hardware, look for the native Switch 2 listing and confirm whether you want physical or digital media.
You need an offline or travel-friendly copy
Do not select the older Switch Cloud edition for that use. Nintendo’s warning makes continuous internet access a requirement. Investigate a native version on supported hardware instead, and confirm the specific SKU before purchase.

You prefer physical media
Square Enix currently lists physical options for Collection [I~III] on PlayStation and Switch 2. The existence of a physical option does not mean every retailer, region or platform has the same package, so check the box or product description for the three included components and the platform logo.

- Start with your hardware. Write down whether you are buying for PS4, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch or Switch 2. A collection name can appear in more than one platform context.
- Check the contents line. For the full package, look for all three entries: 1.5+2.5, 2.8 and Kingdom Hearts III + Re Mind. If KHIII is not listed, you are looking at the pre-III package.
- Identify cloud versus native delivery. On Nintendo, “for Cloud” means streamed play and an internet requirement. “Switch 2” refers to the newer native versions described by Nintendo.
- Check the publication or service status. The Switch Cloud sales cutoff was June 9, 2026, and the scheduled service cutoff is June 9, 2027. Treat an old Cloud listing as a time-sensitive product, not a normal evergreen purchase.
- Test before committing to Cloud. Nintendo explicitly recommends trying the free demo. Use it on the connection and network where you expect to play.
- Verify physical or digital format. The current publisher page lists both formats for PlayStation and Switch 2, but a local retailer may stock only one of them.
- Review region and account details. Availability, discounts and save-transfer eligibility can depend on the regional store and whether you own an eligible Cloud version.
What the newer Collection [I~III] means for this comparison
The newer name can make older buying guides confusing. Nintendo’s overview and Square Enix’s collection page describe Collection [I~III] as the three-part package: 1.5+2.5, 2.8 and III + Re Mind. It therefore occupies the same “complete collection” role as Integrum in terms of listed story components, but it is presented for current PlayStation and Switch 2 purchasing, with physical and digital options shown by Square Enix.
That does not retroactively change The Story So Far. The PS4 package still ends with the 2.8 material. Nor does it make every Integrum listing native: the Nintendo product page for the older named Integrum release specifically identifies Cloud delivery. When comparing a retailer page with an older guide, match the platform and SKU first, then compare the contents.

The meaningful value question is whether you need KHIII and which delivery format you can actually use. If you need only the first two collections, the additional KHIII component in Integrum may be unnecessary. If you need all three, buying a pre-III collection and then adding KHIII creates a second purchase and another edition check.
Prices, promotions and inventory change by region and date, so a current store page is the only reliable place to compare the amount you will pay. Use the official contents and platform information above to eliminate the wrong edition before comparing prices. A lower price is not a saving if it is a Cloud version you cannot reliably play or a package that stops before the game you intended to buy.
Final recommendation
For the broadest story package, choose Integrum Masterpiece only when the specific edition available to you includes KHIII and Re Mind and its platform works for you. On current Nintendo hardware, pay particular attention to the newer native Switch 2 Collection [I~III] rather than the discontinued Switch Cloud product. For a PS4 buyer seeking the pre-KHIII material, or for anyone who already owns KHIII, The Story So Far remains the focused choice.
