Dream Drop Distance HD
This is the package’s remastered full game. The original, KINGDOM HEARTS 3D: Dream Drop Distance, was released in 2012; the story follows Sora and Riku during their Mark of Mastery exam, according to Square Enix.

0.2 Birth by Sleep
This is a new playable chapter centered on Aqua, set after Birth by Sleep and intended to lead toward KINGDOM HEARTS III. It adds a distinct perspective rather than another complete game.

Back Cover is a movie about the Foretellers and the series’ earlier history, not a playable adventure. It may be the least immediately appealing piece for someone primarily looking for gameplay, but it supplies story context.
What does the Switch 2 release include?
Square Enix’s listing places HD 2.8 inside KINGDOM HEARTS Collection [I–III], with an October 8, 2026 release date. That is a collection-level listing; it does not establish a separate standalone HD 2.8 Switch 2 release. The publisher says the physical edition requires an internet connection and an additional data download. It does not specify the download size, what is stored on the cartridge, or whether the full collection can be played offline after installation. There is an important platform distinction. Square Enix described the earlier Nintendo Switch releases as cloud versions, saying, “The beloved KINGDOM HEARTS series is now available on Nintendo Switch™ via Cloud.” That announcement refers to the earlier Switch releases; it does not establish whether the Switch 2 collection also offers cloud streaming. The new listing describes a physical Switch 2 edition with an additional-download requirement, which is not enough to infer its complete offline behavior.

Can the Switch 2 version be reviewed on performance yet?
